Device for preheating and preparing thermoplastics
It is known to preheat thermoplastic plastics, in particular polyvinyl chloride acetate, intended for pressing records, this preheating consisting in blowing a heated gas through a measured amount of plastic. The known devices are not particularly suitable for use in the mass production of z. B. records, and also these known devices have the disadvantage that the heated gas blows successively through several containers with plastic, so that any impurities such. B. grains of sand are scattered. Such impurities can have a destructive effect on the matrices.
The device according to the invention is particularly suitable for use in serial or mass production and is characterized in that it has a horizontally arranged and stepwise rotatable in a horizontal plane, preferably electrically driven, circular table which has an even number of lockable and regular can occupy positions distributed over its circumference, with as many recesses regularly distributed over the circumference as positions in the tabletop, and with the gas heated and supplied by a stationary device being blown through the substance located in a recess in at least one position.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the preheated gas flows vertically through the fabric in one position of the table, while in one of the next positions the preheated gas is blown through the fabric in the opposite direction. This ensures that the fabric is heated as evenly as possible. An even smaller temperature gradient in the material is achieved if, according to a further embodiment of the invention, the table has six positions and six recesses and the angle between the two positions in which the material is heated is 1200 and there is one between these positions, in which no heat is supplied to the material.
In order to achieve a brisk operation, according to a further embodiment of the invention there is a fixed metering device which fills a recess with an amount of substance in a table position, while in another position which, measured in the direction of movement of the table, lies 2400 further, a preferably pneumatically moved ejection device is provided which removes the heated substance from the recess, optionally with a perforated support plate lying on the bottom of the recess.
It is known to design a fan in such a way that the gas to be heated blows along a preferably electrically heated body. According to one embodiment of the device, this known fan is designed in such a way that it can simultaneously deliver both a controllable heated gas flow from above the table downwards in terms of quantity and a controllable heated gas flow in the opposite direction. In this case, only one fan is sufficient, which benefits the simplicity of the device.
It is usually desirable to also preheat the labels that are affixed to a record. This is important because paper is generally very hygroscopic and when pressed, the steam released from the paper can damage the label. According to one embodiment of the invention, the table also has recesses for receiving the labels required in the production of records, wherein, according to a further embodiment, the labels are also preheated in one or more of these recesses. It is then expedient to provide the table with three recesses in which two stacks of labels can be located radially next to each other, possibly in cassettes, these recesses being evenly distributed between the recesses for the substance to be heated.
In general, it is desirable to heat the labels less than the fabric. For this purpose, according to one embodiment of the invention, means are provided by which the amount of heated gas is reduced when the labels are in the position in which they are heated. These means can consist of a controllable shut-off valve with two layers, which is arranged in each supply pipe for the heated gas and is preferably pneumatically moved, which enables the gas to be fed in freely in one position, with small openings being provided in the valve body which, in the other position, in which the valve closes the supply pipe, allow a lower flow.
According to a further embodiment of the invention, a preferably pneumatically movable connection piece is present at the outlet end of the supply pipe of the heated gas, which is lifted during the movement of the table and causes a gas-tight connection between the pipe and the upper or lower edge of the recess when the table is stationary. This ensures that the heated gas actually blows through the material to be heated or the label.
The table rotates according to a further embodiment of the invention in a stationary box-shaped housing which is provided with an opening in each table position, with the exception of those between the two heating positions, and with which the supply and discharge ends of the tubes for the heated gas as well the ejection device, the metering device and a receiving mechanism for the labels are rigidly connected.
In order to avoid jolts when starting the table, whereby plastic grains could fly out of the recesses, the table is driven according to one embodiment of the invention by an electric motor with as many separately excitable poles as there are recesses.
The invention is explained in more detail with reference to the drawing, in which an embodiment of the invention is shown. Show it:
1 shows a view of a heating turntable for preheating and preparing granular polyvinyl chloride acetate and for preheating labels.
Fig. 2 is a front view of this turntable, seen in the direction of the arrow,
3 is a plan view of the turntable,
4 is a schematically illustrated top view of the turntable,
Fig. 5 shows a cross section of the table according to the line X-X in Fig. 4,
6 shows a cross section through the heating device with an associated control valve for regulating the heated gas flowing through and
7 shows a cross section of a connection piece of a supply pipe for the heated gas on the turntable.
First, the general structure of the device is explained with reference to FIGS. 1, 2 and 3. A box-shaped housing 2, in which a turntable 14 can rotate, is mounted on a frame 1 made of steel tube. This turntable is driven by a six-pole electric motor 3. A fan 4 is driven by an electric motor 6 via a belt 5. The air sucked in by the fan 4 first flows through an electrical heating element 7, enters the fan after passing through a control valve 8 and is then blown through pipes 9 via a connection piece 10 through recesses in the table, whereupon the air after passing through a filter enters the radiator 7 again. So there is a closed cycle. There are two sets of pipes 9 and fittings 10.
An ejection device 11 is fixedly mounted under the can-shaped housing 2, and two label lifting devices 12 and a metering device 13 are arranged on the can.
The table 14 rotating in the box-shaped housing 2 will first be described with reference to FIGS. The table 14 has six recesses that are regularly distributed over its circumference.
Of these recesses, the recesses 15, 16 and 17 z. B. intended for the inclusion of granular polyvinyl chloride acetate; they are closed at the bottom by means of a perforated steel plate 18 which lies loosely in the recess. The recesses 19, 20 and 21 have such a shape that two cassettes with stacks of labels 23 and 24 can lie therein. The labels 23 lie with the printed side up in the cassette, while the labels 24 lie with the printed side down. The bottom of the recesses 19, 20 and 21, labeled 25, is firmly connected to the table 14 and is also perforated. The table is driven by means of a shaft 26 and rests on a ball bearing 27. In FIG. 4, the lid 28 of the can is omitted for the sake of clarity.
The six positions of the Ti cal are indicated in Fig. 4 with the letters a, b, c, d e and f. It is assumed that the recesses 15 and 16 are filled with a granular amount of polyvinyl chloride acetate and that the ejector 11 is located at d, below the can, while the label lifting device 12 is attached to the lid at e and the metering device 13 is attached to the lid at f is. Furthermore, the connections 10 with pipes 9 for the heated air are located on the cover at a and c.
In the position shown, the polyvinyl chloride is now heated at a and c; nothing happens in recess 17 at e, and this recess is empty.
In the next position, in which the recess 17 is at f and the other recesses in corresponding positions, the recess 17 is filled with a certain amount of grain at f by means of the dosing device on the lid. The recess 19 with the cassettes with labels present therein is now heated at a, while the amount of plastic lying in the recess 15 and now heated rests at b, so that the temperature gradient in the plastic becomes smaller. At c is then the recess 20 in which the labels are heated again, and the then fully heated material of the recess 16 is removed at d. Two labels are removed from the recess 21 at e. These operations are repeated as the table continues to rotate.
A recess for the plastic thus runs through the following positions: filling, heating, resting, heating, removing filling, and an empty position. A label recess runs through the following positions: heating, resting, heating, resting, removing, resting. The table is provided with a locking device in a known manner, not shown. The electric motor 3 has six poles which are excited separately; When the engine is started, there must be no jolts in the rotation of the table, as otherwise there is a possibility that a number of grains will be thrown out of the containers. The table must also be stopped without bumps. When switching off, the electric motor continues to run for a moment and then slows down until the pawl of the locking device engages.
In Fig. 6, the heating device 7 for the air and the control valve 8 is shown in cross section.
In the can-shaped heating device 7 there is a filter 29 through which the air enters the heating space according to the arrow shown in dashed lines. In this heating space there are two insulated heating elements 30 which are electrically heated by connecting plugs 31 to their ends. In the heating space there is also a fixedly arranged cone-shaped body 32 around which the air flows. A connecting cone 33 is provided with a valve set 34. In the connection cone there is a movable valve body 35, which can come into contact with the seat 34 via a sealing edge 36 and then prevents the heated air flow from entering the connection cone 33.
The valve body 35 is pressed against the seat 34 by means of a spring 37; but if air is admitted under pressure into the line 38, the valve body 35 is pressed to the right, against the force of the spring 37, until a stop 39 abuts against a pin 40 fixed angeord designated. Much less warm air is required when heating the labels. The valve body 35 is then moved completely to the left, so that the sealing edge 36 rests on the seat 34. However, a plurality of holes 41 are provided in the valve body 35 so that an amount of air sufficient to heat the label still emerges. This also offers the advantage that the temperature of the heating elements 30 is not increased too much.
On the lower side of the can there is a collecting cone 42 (see FIG. 1) through which the air, after it has given off heat to the molding compound or the label, returns via the line 43 and the filter 29 to the heating chamber.
The connection piece 10 for connecting the supply pipe 9 to the upper side of the can is shown in FIG. 7. A conical body 44 is fixed immovably on the upper side of the can 2. A cylinder 45, in which a pressure piston 46 can move, is fixedly arranged in the conical body 44. An annular body 47 is connected to a central part 49 by a plurality of ribs 48, and this central part is pressed against the pressure piston 46 by means of a tension spring 50. The ring 47 is connected to the lid of the can 2 by means of an elastic annular disk 51. If air is now admitted under pressure into the line 52, the piston 46 moves downwards and the ring 47 presses on the table 14 around a recess, so that the air is blown through the plastic present in the recess or through the label .
The ejection device 11 consists of a simple, pneumatically acting lifting cylinder. The metering device 13 has a valve, not shown, which is moved by a pneumatically moved piston with cylinder 53.
It is evident that the operation of the device can be fully automated in that the removal of the heated plastic and the removal of the heated and lifted labels are carried out by hand. The power supply to the electric motor of the turntable and the operation of the various taps, which let air under pressure into the lines, can be controlled by relays, which can be operated by a rotating, possibly electrically moved collector or a switching drum.
The device described offers the further advantage that if a stagnation suddenly occurs in the production process of the record or another press article, a maximum of three relatively small amounts of raw materials are lost by staying at a relatively high temperature for too long without being processed further, and thus decompose; in a known oven, in which a large number of portions are slowly heated by flowing warm air, then sometimes fifty or more portions of raw material are lost.
In the embodiment shown, the number of complete revolutions of the table was 1 per minute. The time elapsed between filling a recess and removing the preheated plastic was 40 seconds. The actual preheating of each serving took 2 X 10 seconds, as opposed to the known process, which takes 20 minutes.
Although the drawing shows an embodiment in which the air flows from top to bottom in the two heating positions, the device can be changed by a simple modification in such a way that the heated air flows from bottom to top.
This sometimes offers advantages in connection with a uniform heating of the plastic.
Placing the labels in cassettes and inserting such cassettes in the depressions intended for this purpose offers the advantage that the operation does not need to be interrupted for this insertion.
