Semi-trailer on a semi-trailer with a positively steered axle system The invention relates to a semi-trailer on a semi-trailer, with an axle system which is positively articulated in accordance with its angular position relative to the tractor.
As is known, this forced steering ensures that the width of the circular ring that the tractor with the semitrailer takes up when driving a curve on the roadway is smaller than when the axis of the wheels of the semitrailer is not steered.
In order to transfer the relative pivoting movement of the tractor in opposite directions to the axle support of the semi-trailer, rods, cables and hydraulic means have been developed. The linkages are complicated because of the large number of joints required and are therefore prone to failure. In the case of ropes, the permanent elongation, which is constantly growing during operation, results in inaccurate control of the axle carrier due to the considerable length over which the ropes have to be laid.
In the case of hydraulic transmission, a sealing fault can already result in the wheel axle of the semi-trailer tilting when driving straight.
It is also known to transmit the pivoting movement of the tractor in opposite directions to the axle beam of the semitrailer by telescopic link. However, this transmission, if carried out in the known manner, is not able to give the axle beam of the semi-trailer a rotation to the necessary extent. Vehicles that are equipped in this way are therefore not track-running, whereby track-running is the case in which one behind the other wheels of a vehicle move in the curve at least approximately on the same circular path, as otherwise only applies to rail vehicles.
A vehicle in lane takes up the smallest space in the curve. The width of the annulus segment beyond the edges of which no part of the vehicle protrudes is therefore a minimum in the case of a vehicle in track.
The invention has for its object to provide a semi-trailer with a positively steered axle system, in which the relative pivoting movement of the tractor is carried in opposite directions on an axle carrier by a telescopic member in a manner known per se.
Deviating from known Zwangslen effects according to the invention, the telescopic member is formed by a telescopic lever, which is mounted on the chassis frame of the semi-trailer in a point offset against the verti cal axis of the axle carrier, on the chassis of the tractor in a point offset against the vertical pivot axis of the fifth wheel and articulated is connected to the axle beam by a joint.
In this way it is possible to give the axle support a rotation of almost any size in relation to the pivoting angle of the tractor. In particular, it is then possible to bring the lever arms into a length ratio by which the axle carrier is given a rotation by an angle in the area of relatively small lever deflections, the amount of which is at least approximately the same as the angle of rotation of the tractor to the trailer,
in order to create tracking.
Relatively small deflections in the above sense are understood to mean the lever deflections that occur when driving on road curves. It is a particular advantage that the Zwangslen effect according to the invention can be designed so that with large deflections the rotation of the axle carrier is less than. the angle of rotation of the tractor to the trailer. Otherwise there would be the risk that when maneuvering, where the tractor is often turned by 900 to the trailer, the trailer could tip over.
This risk can be avoided with the trailer according to the invention, namely by a ratio of the arm of the lever connected to the axle carrier by the joint to the distance of the joint from the vertical axis of the axle carrier, which causes the axle carrier to rotate when the lever is fully extended issued less than 90o.
Among the various ways of arranging the pivot point of the telescopic lever and the joints that connect it to the chassis of the tractor and the axle carrier, the preferred embodiment of the invention deserves the preference in which the fulcrum and the lever connecting the tractor to the tractor Articulated between tween the vertical pivot axes of the tractor coupling and the axle carrier are arranged, while the joint connecting the lever with the axle carrier is located in the direction of travel behind the vertical pivot axis of the axle carrier.
This gives the most favorable leverage ratios with a particularly simple structure.
The fact that the tractor performs nodding movements relative to the semi-trailer can be taken into account by making the front arm of the telescopic lever pivotable about a horizontal axis lying transversely to the direction of travel.
The invention can be used accordingly on multi-axle semi-trailers. This is done, for example, in that the bogies of the axles are coupled to one another with respect to their rotations about the vertical, the telescopic lever being articulated on one of them.
The drawing schematically illustrates an embodiment. 1 shows a side view of a semitrailer coupled to a semitrailer with the features of the invention.
2 shows a view of the vehicle according to FIG. 1 from above, and FIG. 3 shows the vehicle according to FIGS. 1 and 2, again in a view from above, but when driving on a curve.
The semi-trailer 1 of the drawn Fahrzeu ges is connected to a semi-trailer 2 through the usual fifth wheel 3. This coupling ge equips the semi-trailer 1 a rotation about a vertical axis 4 relative to the tractor 2. The front of the wheels 5 of the tractor are steered in the usual way to testify for motor vehicles by stub legs not shown. The chassis 6 is provided in its rear ends 9 protruding beyond the axle 7 of the rear wheels 8 with a trailer coupling 10 which is used when the tractor is used by vehicles attached to the vehicle instead of semi-mounted.
The carrier of the th axis indicated by its center line 11 of the wheels 12 of the semi-trailer is designed as a bogie 14 with a turntable and rotatably mounted on the frame 13 of the trailer about a vertical axis 15. A telescopic lever 17 is rotatable about a vertical axis 18 in a bearing 16 attached to the frame 13 below. The left arm of this lever consists of two telescopic parts 19 and 20, the free end of the part 19 in the trailer coupling to 10 can be suspended.
The right arm 21 of the lever 17 engages with a bolt 22 in a slot 23 of the bogie 14. The two arms, which are at different heights, are connected to one another by a bushing 24 on which the left arm with the telescopic part 20 is horizontal Axis 25 lying transversely to the direction of travel is pivotably attached.
The mode of operation is explained with reference to Fig. 3, which reproduces the vehicle seen from above when driving a curve and shows that every rotation of the tractor 2 about the axis 4 of the fifth wheel through the telescopic lever 17 on the bogie of the wheel axle 11 of the Semi-trailer is transferred in opposite directions.
You can, as corresponds to the preferred embodiment of the invention, the distance of the axis 4 from the joint of the trailer coupling 10 and the distance of the axis 15 from the bolt 22 and the average lengths of the two arms of the telescopic lever easily choose so that the semi-trailer is practical is steered in the right direction.
This is the case with sufficient accuracy if it is ensured that the two angles a and b are approximately equal to each other, whereby the small deviations from this condition, which result from the lengthening and shortening of the two arms of the telescopic lever, are negligibly small are.
Within the ring area delimited by the two circular arcs c and d, the semitrailer steered in this way takes up the smallest possible space in terms of width. Because it moves in the curve like a rail vehicle. The axes 7 and 11 of the wheels 8 and 12 and the axes 26 and 27 of the front wheels 5 of the tractor all go through a point outside the drawing, which represents the center of the curve traveled.
It is essential for the trackability of the semi-trailer truck that a circular arc e passing through point 4 and struck around the center of the curve also goes through point 15, whereby this condition is practically not dependent on mathematically exact compliance.
The angles a and b are approximately equal in the area of relatively small deflections of the lever 17, as they occur in normal road bends. With larger deflections, the angle a grows much more slowly than the angle b. If the bogie 14 were to be controlled in such a way that the angles a and b were the same for all deflections, the trailer would tip over if the tractor moved by approximately 900 to the trailer. This does not occur with the described steering.
The lever 17 reaches its greatest deflection when the joint 10 is located at point 10 ', where the straight line passing through points 4 and 10' forms a right angle with the lever. With this lever deflection, the joint 22 is at point 22 'and the bogie has only rotated around 4511.
The pivotability of the left arm of the telescopic lever 17 about the horizontal axis 25 is used to accommodate nodding movements that the tractor performs relative to the semi-trailer.
