Hydraulic turbine The subject of the present patent is a hydraulic reaction turbine fitted with a shutter allowing the passage of water from the spiral sheet to the wheel to be interrupted, and consisting of a cylindrical shell, placed between the sheet and the wheel moves axially so as to be able to be brought from an open position to a closed position,
characterized in that this ferrule forms the plunger of an annular hydraulic booster for controlling the ferrule.
The accompanying drawings show, by way of example, an embodiment of the turbine according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a partial sectional elevation view of this embodiment; fig. 2 is a view of a detail, and FIG. 3 is a view of another detail.
The Francis turbine shown has the tank 1 through which the motive water accesses the mobile front distributor 3 before entering the wheel 4, from where it is discharged by the suction cone 5.
A thick cylindrical shell 6, axially movable, forms a piston in an annular chamber 7 constituting the cylinder of an annular hydraulic booster for controlling the shell.
This ferrule, placed between the front distributor 2 and the mobile distributor 3 is guided, on its outer surface, by three 120o front guiding lines covered with a bar 2a facilitating sliding. These three front guiding lines are extended by three vertical ribs 8 inside the booster to guide the ferrule over the lower part of its stroke.
The annular chamber 7 forming the cylinder of the hydraulic booster is connected to the tank 1 by a pipe 9 provided with a pump 10 and a valve 11, which constitute the device for supplying the booster.
The evacuation of the cylinder 7 of the booster is provided by a pipe 12 provided with a valve 13 and opening into the vacuum cleaner 5.
Two musical note section rings 14 and 14 'seal the upstream and downstream points between the shell 6 and the cylinder 7 and a ring 15 seals in the closed position of the shell against the upper flange.
In the open position, the ferrule 6 is completely lowered into the booster cylinder 7, according to the position 6 'indicated in dotted lines, its lower edge 6a resting on three stops 8a.
To interrupt the passage of water, the tap 13 is closed, the tap 11 is opened and the pump 10 is started. The overpressure in the servo motor, in relation to the pressure of the drop, is then approximately 2 kg / = 2 and this overpressure, acting on the lower face 6a of the shell, causes it to rise.
When the shell reaches the fully closed position, the pump is stopped, the valve 11 remaining open.
At the moment; the chamber 7 is in simple communication with the tank 1 so that the pressure. acting on the lower face 6a of the ferrule is the same as that acting on the upper face 6b of said ferrule (pressure of the, drop).
Now, the sealing ring 15 constituted by a hard rubber pad of special section fixed by dovetail around the entire contour of the cylindrical shell, the detail of which, in section, is shown in FIG. 2, is designed so that in the closed position of the shell, the seal is only ensured over the width 16 of the upper surface of the ring, the width 17 not being in contact with the ring. upper wear plate.
This width 17 is calculated so that in the closed position the shell is subjected to a resultant of vertical thrust originating from the differential action of the pressure on the complete underside 6a of the shell and the partial width 17 of the shell. the upper face 6b.
Under these conditions, the ferrule is kept in the closed position under the sole action of the pressure of the chute acting on its lower and upper faces, the pump 10 being stopped, the valve 11 both open and the valve 13 remaining closed.
Of course, the ring 15 could be placed on the upper flange at the location of the wearing part and the operation would be identical.
To open, the valve 11 is closed and the servomotor is evacuated via the pipe 12 by opening the valve 13.
The thrust resulting from the pressure of the fall acting first on the width 17 of the upper face 6b of the shell and then, after detachment on the whole of this upper face, increased by the weight of the shell, causes the descent of the shell and, consequently, its opening.
The speed of the descent of the ferrule can be adjusted by properly operating the discharge valve 13.
The rings 14 and 14 'ensure complete sealing when the chamber 7 is at an overpressure, because the beads of these rings are then pressed on the shell by the effect of this overpressure. This occurs during the ascent (closing) of the ferrule.
When the shell is in the closed position, the upstream ring 14 is subjected on both sides to the same pressure and no longer rests tightly against the shell. Moreover, the pressures on either side of this ring 14 being equal, sealing is unnecessary.
On the other hand, the downstream ring 14 'is subjected on its outer face to the pressure of the chute and presses on the downstream face of the shell with this pressure, ensuring on this side of the shell the necessary perfect sealing.
During the descent of the shell, the pressure of the fall tends to open the rings. In order to limit leaks, and consequently the diameter of the discharge pipe 12 of the booster, the rings 14 and 14 'are supported by sufficiently long support angles 18.
The ferrule can take different positions depending on the operating conditions - the unit comprising the turbine is stopped in power reserve: the ferrule is in the closed position, the distributor is in the idle position to decompress the com region. taken between the ferrule and the guide lines; - the group is in normal power operation the shell is in the open position; the dispenser is open; the rubber pad is flush with the bottom of the front guides; - the unit operates as a synchronous compensator: the shell is closed; the distributor is in the idle position.
