Fig. 2 zwischen der Ausgangsöffnung 9 des Autoklaven
Device for sterilizing, in particular medical instruments
The invention relates to a device for sterilizing, in particular medical instruments, having an autoclave operated with steam, to which the steam is supplied by a steam generator in which it is generated by injecting an evaporation agent.
In such devices, which are known per se, it is important to be able to shorten the time it takes to heat the autoclave to the sterilization temperature as much as possible without requiring large amounts of heat. The steam generator, which can be heated up easily and can also be kept at the desired temperature very economically by means of a thermostat, has the task of storing the amount of heat required to evaporate water in order to obtain a sufficiently large amount in a relatively short time to be able to generate steam, especially water vapor, which is very heat-capacitive and can also be brought to a suitable high temperature. In this way, the desired sterilization of the instruments and the like located in the autoclave can be achieved in a relatively short time under optimal conditions.
The aim of the invention is to perfect a sterilization device of the type mentioned, not only in order to improve its economic efficiency, but also in order to enable a completely automatic mode of operation. It is also important here that the air, which is relatively unfavorable in terms of heat capacity, is released from the sterilization room quickly and properly. What is also important here is a particularly favorable repeated use of the water required for the formation of steam and, if necessary, automatically supplementing it. Finally, there is also the fact that the autoclave is quickly and automatically vented in such a way that no reinfection can occur in the autoclave, as the air used for this can only enter the autoclave in a sterile state.
The invention is based on the object of creating a device in which the specified conditions are met.
According to the invention, this is achieved in that a conduit is provided which supplies the steam generator with evaporation agent to the steam generator and can be connected to a water container that receives the condensed water flowing out of the autoclave at the bottom of the autoclave, with a condensed water container connected to a condensed water container , which opens into a water reservoir via a thermal valve.
The device according to the invention allows the required amount of sufficient hot steam to be quickly replenished with economical water consumption while achieving an optimally rapid displacement of the air which is unfavorable in terms of heat and economy in the sterilization room.
The invention is then explained in more detail with reference to the drawing in two exemplary embodiments. Show it:
Fig. 1 schematically shows a first embodiment of the device according to the invention and
FIG. 2 shows a simplified embodiment of the device compared to FIG.
In the figures, in which the same or corresponding parts are provided with matching reference symbols, the existing autoclave is denoted by 1. It is connected to a steam generator 3 by means of a steam line 2. This steam generator 3 consists essentially of a block of Alumi nium provided with thermal insulation or of another good heat-storing material. The steam generator 3 is e.g. Similar to a flame tube boiler, it is provided with a system of channels 4, at the lowest point of which a water supply line 6 opens by means of a spray nozzle 5. Suitable heating elements 7, which heat the steam generator 3 to about 2500 ° C., are arranged between the channels 4.
A thermostat 8, likewise accommodated in the steam generator 3 and switched into the heating current flow, is used to automatically maintain this temperature.
A line 9 is connected to the bottom of the autoclave 1, through which the air it displaces can escape while the steam flows in. This line 9 opens into a water container 10, which has the task of absorbing the condensation water that forms. From the upper part of the water tank 10, a line 11 equipped with cooling fins continues to a valve set, which consists of a safety valve 13, a check valve 14 and a bellows-like vessel 15 which actuates the last-mentioned valve and which is e.g. C2HÏOH contains, which evaporates at a temperature of 80O, and thereby inflates the vessel 15 so that it can then close the check valve 14 with its attachment 16 if desired.
A further line 17, likewise equipped with cooling fins, is connected to the upper part of the housing 12 of the valve set and allows the air expelled from the autoclave 1 to reach a water tank 18, from where it can escape into the open.
The water container 10 is connected by a line 19 to another vessel 20, into which the condensed water from the water container 10 is passed on via a float valve 21, from where it is returned via a line 22, a reducing valve 23, a shut-off valve 24 and the water supply line 6 reaches the steam generator 3 in the circuit. There is also a line 25 between the valve housing 12 and the water vessel 20. This opens on the one hand near the bottom into the named housing of the valve set and on the other hand it is connected to the bottom of the water vessel 20, which has a lower part separated by a partition 26.
The connection opening in this partition 26 is made closable by a check valve 27. 28 is a further shut-off valve which, like valve 24, can be operated by hand, but which can also be designed as a solenoid valve, so that after a certain time to be set it can also be used, for. B. can be operated electrically by a timer 29 '. This valve 28 is located in a line 30 which leads into the water tank 18 and opens above its maximum possible water level and thus has a connection with the outside air. At the other end, the line 30 is connected to the line 6.
The autoclave 1 can be vented via this line 30, which is also provided with cooling fins, as will be described in more detail below.
The operation of the device described is as follows: After the autoclave has been opened, the water stored in the water container 20 flows through the line 22, the reducing valve 23 and, when the valve 28 is closed, through the line 6 and the nozzle 5 the steam generator 3, which has already been heated to around 2500, in which it evaporates rapidly in the channels 4 and is fed through the line 2 to the autoclave 1 in the form of steam. The condensation water produced by the cooling of the steam when the autoclave 1 is heated passes through the line 9 into the water container 10 and flows back into the water container 20 via the float valve 21 and the line 19.
The air in the autoclave 1 is displaced by the inflow of steam and also passes through the line 9 over the water container 10 and through the cooling line 11, through the safety valve 13 and the open check valve 14 into the valve chamber 12 ', from where it passes through the line 17 is passed into the water tank 18 and can rise here in the form of air bubbles and escape into the open. As soon as the air has been displaced from the autoclave 1, the bellows vessel 15 is heated by the steam flowing in, whereby the C2H5OH located inside it evaporates and the vessel expands so that it closes the check valve 14 with its extension 16. As a result, the pressure in the autoclave 1 now rises, which has the consequence that the check valve 27 closes.
The autoclave 1 then works in a closed circuit, as the condensation water due to its own weight or the pressure on its mirror from the water container 10 through the line 19 into the water container 20 and from here via the reducing valve 23, the open shut-off valve 24 and the Line 6 is conveyed further after the steam generator 3 and here again evaporates into the autoclave 1.
In this way, the pressure in the autoclave 1 rises rapidly to the desired level, at which pressure the reducing valve 23 is set. Once this pressure has been reached, the valve 23 blocks the further supply of water to the steam generator 3. As a result, the pressure in the autoclave 1 no longer increases. Insofar as there is still air residue in the autoclave 1, as it can be detached from the fabric when textiles are made sterile, this air collects at the bottom and passes through the water tank 10 into the line 11 through steam flowing in, which is still under the prevailing overpressure in the Autoclave is standing. This steam first condenses in the cooling line 11. As a result of the poor thermal conductivity of the air, the heat supply from the autoclave 1 to the bellows vessel 15 is reduced or completely interrupted.
The bellows vessel 15 thereby cools down again and contracts. This causes the check valve 14 to be released, which opens due to the pressure of the steam still coming from the autoclave 1, so that the air that has accumulated in the line 11 is quickly forced out. After the air has escaped, the subsequent steam quickly heats the valve housing 12 and thus also the bellows vessel 15 again, which results in the non-return valve 14 closing again. During the warm-up time required by the bellows vessel 15, the cooling line 17 has also been filled again with the steam following the escaping air. This steam condenses after the non-return valve 14 is closed. A negative pressure is created in the valve housing 12, as a result of which water is sucked from the tank 18 into the valve body 12.
This water fills the space of the valve housing 12, which was previously also filled with steam. It flows through the line 25 into the lower part 32 of the water container 20 and also fills this with water. The water sucked in from the tank 18 now cools the bellows container 15 again as it flows through the valve housing 12, which can then release the check valve 14 again for the purpose of escaping again accumulated air. This process is repeated until all air has been removed from the autoclave.
Then there is no longer sufficient cooling of the valve housing 12 to lift the valve 14 or the pressure in the line 11 is finally no longer high enough to lift the valve 14.
If the time set on the timer 29 ', which is required or required for sterilization, has expired, the valve 28 is opened while the valve 24 closes at the same time. With the achievement of pressure equalization, the result of this is that the steam in the autoclave 1 is passed through the steam line 2, the steam generator 3, the water supply line 6, the valve 28 and the cooling line 30 through the water tank 18 and is thereby cooled and condensed.
After the steam has escaped, a vacuum is created in the autoclave 1 as a result of the further cooling, whereby outside air is sucked in through the mouth of the line 30 located above the water level of the water tank 18 and via the valve 28, the line 6 and through the steam generator 3 as well is conveyed further through the steam line 2 into the autoclave 1 until the negative pressure is equalized again. The closure door 31 of the autoclave 1 can then be opened with ease. When the sucked-in air flows through the steam generator 3, it is quickly heated and thus made sterile.
Since each time the non-return valve 14 is opened, some water is consumed that cannot be replaced during the course of the sterilization, and once the pressure has been equalized in the autoclave, this water supply located in the water container 20 is automatically replaced. The next sterilization process can then begin again.
The arrangement according to FIG. 2 is simplified in relation to the one described above in that it is no longer provided in the path taken by the condensation water, because in this case, unnecessary, there is no float valve and also no check valve. The air outlet line 11 'connected at the top of the container 10' leads, without a check valve being present, directly into the thermal valve 12 ", which is also simplified and always has a free passage to the line 17, which leads to the water tank 18, so this thermal valve has not closed for a long time, which only occurs when steam wants to escape via the air outlet line 11 '.
Furthermore, according to the establishment
2 between the outlet opening 9 of the autoclave
1 and the condensed water container 10 ', a closing element 33, suitably designed as a solenoid valve, is provided, which closes automatically when the sterilization is completed.
In contrast to the device according to FIG. 1, the condensed water container 10 'is a thermal switch
34 assigned, the contact-actuating to respond when the water in it is appropriate
Temperature has reached or the desired sterilization temperature is in the autoclave. A corresponding thermal switch could naturally also be provided on the autoclave itself. If this thermal switch 34, however, is made effective on the condensate container 10 ', this has the advantage that that switching process that a timer for the
Measurement of the sterilization time starts, only takes place correctly when there is no more air in the
The autoclave is located, because only then can the thermal switch in the vessel 10 'reach its switching temperature.
In addition, there is also a shut-off valve 24 'in the line 6', which leads to the steam generator 3 'and this leads to the injection water, which interrupts the supply of water to the steam generator as soon as the desired sterilization temperature or the in the autoclave at this temperature given overpressure is reached. This valve can also be designed as a solenoid valve that can be automatically activated as soon as the
Autoclave the desired temperature or the desired overpressure prevails. For this purpose, the autoclave can be equipped with a pressure switch connected to it, which has a pressure capsule 35 which flips a switch lever 36 as soon as the desired overpressure is reached in the autoclave.
As soon as the
Switch arm 36 is raised, it closes the solenoid valve 24 'via a circuit coming about through contact 37. You can also use this
Contact 37 also starts the timer (not shown), which in turn is suitable after the desired sterilization time has elapsed
Circuits operated, which then the solenoid valve
33 closes and also the valve 28 'opens, which establishes the connection to the line 30 which, when the valve 24' is closed, connects the interior of the car to the outside air via the steam generator 3 'in order to allow the excess pressure to escape and, if necessary Cooling down the interior of the
Autoclave, whereby a negative pressure can arise in it, to be able to suck in fresh air, which takes its way again via the steam generator 3 ',
in which it is brought to a sterile temperature.
Otherwise the facility differs according to
2 still characterized in that the thermal valve 12 ″ is acted upon by the water tank 10 ′ via the line 11 ′ without a check valve in front of it.
The expanding bellows vessel 15 'itself carries the valve pin 14', which closes the passage 38 in the valve 12 "when it is activated when heated. The line 17, which leads to the water tank 18, is therefore always connected as soon as the valve pin 14 'has not closed the valve passage 38. The latter is the case as soon as steam flows in from the water vessel 10' through the line 11 '. In this case, too, the thermo-valve 12' 'can be temporarily opened until all the air is out is discharged from the autoclave.
When the valve 24 'is closed at the end of the sterilization process and the supply of steam to the thermal valve 12 "is interrupted, this valve cools down and opens. At the same time, however, a certain negative pressure has also entered the water vessel 10', so that the tank 18 Water is sucked into the water vessel 10 'via the opened valve 12 ″, as a result of which this vessel is additionally refilled for the next sterilization process.
It should be mentioned that the desired sterilization temperature can also be set with the aid of the thermal switch 34. This temperature is e.g. for sterilizing instruments 1 340C, for parts that contain rubber, but only 120 C.
As can be seen from FIG. 2, the steam generator 3 ', compared to FIG. 1, is arranged with a short connecting line directly below the autoclave.
In this case it is heated by an externally applied winding 39 which is well insulated from the outside. The internal construction of this steam generator 3 'can be chosen as desired. In addition to the type described in FIG. 1, there can also be a spiral tube arrangement in which the water is still heated and is then injected through a nozzle into a heating chamber.
Instead of water, any other suitable liquid agent can also be used that can be evaporated well and, in special cases, is better suited than water. A whole series of low-boiling liquids known per se are available for this purpose.
Wherever water is mentioned above and in the claims, water can be replaced by the corresponding liquid.
