<Desc/Clms Page number 2>
Fig. 4-16 zeigen in gleicher Weise wie Fig. 1 drei weitere Ausführungsformen.
<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Arrangement for preventing outside air from entering a room on outside doors and the like with the aid of an air curtain. The invention relates to an arrangement for preventing outside air from entering a room on outside doors and the like by means of an air curtain covering the door opening, which is provided by an air curtain adjustable guide rails at the upper edge of the door opening after a suction chamber laid in the floor and covered with a grille is blown by means of one or more fans, which are mounted in a channel connecting the suction chamber and the injection opening,
in which there is also an air heating arrangement.
With such arrangements it is important to be able to regulate the speed of the air jets and / or their direction as a function of pressure changes on the outside and inside of the air curtain so that it effectively closes the door opening under all circumstances.
Just regulating the speed of the air jets is not sufficient here, since if relatively large changes in pressure, e.g. with varying wind conditions, the speed of the air jets must be so great that this becomes uncomfortable for people who are supposed to pass through the air curtain.
As a result, it has also been proposed to automatically direct the air jets by moving the guide rails with the aid of pressure-sensing organs, which were arranged in such a way that they are actuated by the speed pressure of the air jets when the air curtain is moved from a certain desired normal position as a result of pressure changes becomes. Such pressure-sensing organs require, however, if they are to work properly, relatively high speed pressures, which - especially in spring and autumn - requires significantly larger amounts of air than what would be required to keep the door opening blocked by the air curtain.
As a result, these known arrangements work inefficiently.
The purpose of the invention is to avoid the disadvantages of these known arrangements without jeopardizing the effective closure of the door opening by the air curtain even with strong pressure changes between the outside and the inside of the door opening.
According to the invention, this is achieved in that the guide rails are actuated by one or more elements located near the floor, which sense the temperature of the air curtain and which automatically adjust the guide rails in such a way that the air curtain is given a blowing direction that is appropriate in relation to the wind conditions.
In order to prevent the room air entrained by it on the inside of the air curtain from deviating inward into the room along the floor surface and causing an unpleasant draft for the people in the air flow path, the width of the suction chamber can be perpendicular to in an expedient embodiment of the invention The door opening must be significantly larger than the corresponding width of the air curtain hitting the floor and extend within the air curtain, the connection channel on the pressure side of the fan being provided with a bleed line of such dimensions,
that the relationship between the amount of air sucked out and the amount blown in is one with regard to the direction of adjustment of the guide rails
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
and thus the position of the air curtain is given a suitable value.
The invention is described in more detail below with reference to some embodiments illustrated in the drawing.
Fig. 1 shows the first embodiment when the air pressure on the outside and inside of the air curtain is essentially the same, while Figs. 2 and 3 show the position and shape of the air curtain with the same arrangement when the air pressure on the outside of the Air curtain e.g. increases due to increased wind pressure before a correction is made or after the guide rails have been adjusted by the action of the temperature-sensing organ or organs.
FIGS. 4-16 show three further embodiments in the same way as FIG.
In all embodiments, the same reference numerals have been used for the same parts.
In the embodiment according to FIGS. 1-3, 1 denotes the top of a door opening and 2 denotes its underside or the bottom. At the top 1 there is a space 3 with an outlet opening 4 into which guide rails 5 are inserted to control air blown out through the opening 4 and intended to form an air curtain, which after passing the door opening into a below the floor 2, The space 7 covered by a grid 6 and designed in the form of a suction chamber flows in. This air is circulated with the aid of a fan (not shown) and a line 8, with a heat battery 9 being inserted into the line 8 for heating the air so that it has a higher temperature than the inside air and also the outside air.
Below the grille 6 in the suction chamber 7, two temperature-sensing elements 10 and 11 are attached, which are connected by lines 12 and 13 to a relay arrangement 14, which in turn is connected by a line 15 to a motor 16 which adjusts the guide rails 5 that the outflowing air jets get the desired direction.
The organs 10 and 11 intended for temperature sensing are arranged in such a way that both organs, when the air curtain flows in symmetrically to the horizontal center line of the opening, lie entirely within the inner and outer boundary surface of the air curtain and that the distance between the two organs is approximately corresponds to the thickness of half the air curtain at the level of these organs.
The mode of operation of the described arrangement is as follows: In Fig. 1 it is assumed that the air pressure is the same on both sides of the air curtain and that the guide rails are set vertically so that the air jets that form the air curtain flow straight from top to bottom . The organs 10 and 11 are also symmetrical to the air curtain and are exposed to the same temperature.
If, however, the air pressure on the outside of the curtain increases, for example due to the fact that the wind pressure increases, the air curtain is bent inwards, as can be seen from FIG. 2, whereby the outer organ 10 is under the influence of colder air and the relay arrangement 14 operated so that the motor 16 rotates the guide rails 5 so that the air curtain is pushed so far outward, ie in the position according to FIG. 3, that the organs 10 and 11 again lie completely within the air curtain. When the air curtain is moved in the opposite direction, the element 11 is exposed to colder air and gives the relay arrangement 14 an impulse which in turn causes the motor 16 to rotate the guide rails 5 in the opposite direction.
The arrangement is designed in such a way that the setting of the guide rails is proportional to the difference between the temperatures scanned by the organs 10 and 11 on the outside and on the inside of the air curtain.
The embodiment according to FIG. 4 differs from that according to FIGS. 1-3 in that the width of the suction chamber 7 perpendicular to the door opening is substantially greater than the corresponding width of the air curtain hitting the floor and also extends substantially to the side of the air flow. This embodiment of the suction chamber 7 ensures that the room air entrained on the inside of the air curtain also enters the suction chamber 7 and is prevented from being bent along the floor and thereby causing a draft on it. This entrained room air is thereby mixed with the curtain air circulating through the line 8.
In order to ensure that the ratio between the amount of air sucked out through the suction chamber 7 and blown in through the opening 4 is kept at an appropriate value with regard to the setting of the guide rails 5 and thus the position of the air curtain, the line 8 is on the pressure side of the The fan is provided with a bleed line 17, the flow cross section of which can be regulated with the aid of a valve 18.
The flow cross section of the bleeding line 17 is expediently set so that the amount of air blown in through the opening 4 is between 70-100% of the amount of air sucked out, while up to 30% of the amount of air sucked out consists of room air carried along by the air curtain.
The embodiment shown in FIG. 5 differs from that according to FIG. 4 only in that the grille 6, which covers the suction chamber, is provided within the normally inner boundary surface of the air curtain with an uninterrupted section 19 running parallel to the door opening, whereby the suction chamber has two openings next to each other. The air curtain is inserted through the wider opening, while the
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
cracked room air flows in through the narrower opening.
Finally, as regards the embodiment according to FIG. 6, it differs from that according to FIG. 5 only in that a vertical partition 20 is attached between the uninterrupted part 19 and the bottom of the suction chamber 7. However, the invention is not limited to the illustrated and described embodiments, but these can be changed in many ways within the scope of the invention.
For example, it is possible to bring about the desired setting with just one organ that senses the temperature, which is expediently attached to the same place as the organ 10 and senses the actual temperature and has a design such that when the air curtain is pivoted inward it is exposed to the outside temperature and causes the guardrails to adjust to the outside and vice versa. Of course, more than one temperature-sensing element can be arranged on each side of the air curtain, whereby the accuracy of the regulation can be improved even further. Furthermore, the arrangement can be designed in such a way that either when the guide rails are set in the fully swiveled-out position, or at the same time as their rotary movement, the fan motor for the purpose of increasing or
Reduction of the amount of air blown in is actuated. Finally, the extraction line 17 can be replaced by a special fan, the suction line of which is directly connected to the suction chamber in the vicinity of the grille part 8, at which the entrained room air enters the suction chamber or the suction chamber part delimited by the partition. This particular fan is expediently dimensioned in such a way that it extracts an amount of air that is approximately one third of the total amount of air extracted. Finally, an element can be provided which sets the particular fan in motion when the air speed in the vicinity of the floor of the room exceeds a predetermined value.
