Dental drill handpiece
The invention relates to a dental drill handpiece designed in particular as an angle piece with a high-speed motor as a drive for the tool, e.g. B. air turbine drive, which is expediently arranged as a structural unit in the head part housing together with the bearing elements of the motor, which are usually formed by ball bearings arranged on both sides of the rotor, to achieve exact centricity. With such drives, speeds of 200,000 Ulm and above are achieved. The disadvantage here is that a siren-like noise is caused by these maximum speeds, which is perceived as very annoying by the patient.
Based on the knowledge that the rotor acts as a vibration generator in such high-speed motors, the vibrations of which are transmitted via the bearing elements to the metal motor housing and the shaft of the handpiece, which is also made of metal, and that the metal parts mentioned form the vibrations acoustically radiating resonators the invention provides a solution in which the noise level is reduced with relatively little effort that according to the invention between the motor rotor or the motor assembly and the other parts of the handpiece at least one isolator part acting as a vibration damper, eg made of rubber or the like.
Further details are explained in more detail in the following description of the exemplary embodiment, which is illustrated partly in view and partly in section in FIGS. 1 to 7, in which an air turbine drive is provided as the highest-speed drive for the tool.
In the drilling handpiece shown in Fig. 1, designed as an elbow, a head part 1, which contains the air turbine drive for the tool 2, is attached to a handle 3, which is connected, for example, by means of a screw connection at 4 to the shaft 5 of the hand piece . An attachment 7 for a flexible pressure medium line 8 with pressure medium ducts 9, 10 can be coupled to the handpiece by means of a coupling device 6.
As can be seen from FIGS. 2 and 3, the turbine runner 11, which on its circumference has expediently axially extending turbine blades (not shown in the drawing) and acted upon by a tangential flow of compressed air, is mounted by means of ball bearings 12, 13. The inner races 14, 15 are attached to the stub shafts 16, 17 provided on both sides of the rotor, while the outer races 18, 19 are pressed into cup-like bushings 20, 21. The above-described parts form an assembly which is inserted into the tubular metallic housing 22 with an interference fit, e.g. by gluing, soldering or in a similar way, can be inserted. The shaft part 16 also serves as an insert part for the shaft of the drilling or similar tool 2.
An air gap 24 is provided between the shaft part 16 and the end wall 23 of the bushing 20, which air gap 24 can be directed so that part of the working air flowing from the turbine rotor via the ball bearing 12 and displaced with an oil mist for the purpose of lubricating the ball bearings is directed towards the head of the drilling tool is.
In the two sockets 20 and 21, recesses 25, 26 are provided which are in connection with bores 27, 28 through which the main part of the working air flowing out via the two ball bearings is guided to a channel 29 passed through the handpiece, which is connected to an in The drawing, not illustrated, is connected through the flexible pressure medium channel passed return channel, wherein an outflow opening for the returned working air can be provided behind the flexible pressure medium channel.
To reduce the noise level of the siren-like noise caused in such handpieces as a result of the vibrations of the turbine rotor, the turbine set is insulated together with the tubular metal housing by means of an isolator part acting as a vibration damper. For this purpose, in the embodiment according to FIGS. 2 and 3 between the housing 22 and the tubular part 30 of the head part 1, a suitably made of rubber tubular part 31 is provided, which is suitably made in a vulcanizing process and a firmly adhering connection between the housing 22 and the wall 30 forms.
In the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 4, the turbine unit can be inserted into the inner bore 32 of the metallic head part 33 in the manner described above. In the stem 34 carrying the head part 33 there is provided a vibration-damping part 35 made of rubber or the like, which is adapted to the cross-section of the stem 34 and can also be produced in a vulcanizing process, so that a firm connection of the head part 33 to the stem 34 is ensured is.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 5, the head part 36 and the stem 37 carrying this part consist of a vibration-damping insulator, e.g. B. a piece of rubber. The metallic pipe section 38 accommodating the turbine unit is inserted into the head part.
Another possibility of isolating the turbine set from the rest of the metal handpiece part is shown schematically in FIGS. 6 and 7. To the stem 39 made of metal, for example in a vulcanization process, an extension piece 40 of vibration-damping material is attached which has an annular part 41 in which the tubular metal housing 42, e.g. by means of vulcanization. The ring-shaped part 41 can completely or, if necessary, only partially enclose the housing 42.
Furthermore, in the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 2, the insulating tubular intermediate piece can be formed by two or more axial rib-like parts, which can be produced, for example, in a vulcanization process. it being possible for there to be axially extending air gaps between the individual ribs, which in turn can also contribute to vibration damping.
The turbine module optionally also comprises the metallic turbine housing containing the turbine set.
