<Desc/Clms Page number 3>

Device for draft-free ventilation of a room, in particular a cattle shed. The invention relates to a device for draft-free ventilation of a room, in particular a cattle shed. In cattle stalls, the air is usually heavily enriched with moisture due to the evaporation of the cattle. If there is insufficient ventilation, this moisture condenses on the walls, which means that the masonry, etc. is permanently soaked. Over time, this leads to impairment of the masonry, rot on wooden parts and the formation of mold or fungus.
The invention proposes a draft-free ventilation device, which is characterized by an essentially horizontally running channel which is arranged on the ceiling of the room and runs through the outer wall and opens out into the open, in which a motor-driven fan is arranged near the wall and which extends essentially over the entire depth of the room and has a plurality of air inlet and outlet openings distributed over its length.
The particular advantage of the invention results, in particular in stalls, from the fact that the ventilation device can be retrofitted in practically any existing stall without affecting rooms above the stall. The large number of air inlet openings avoids an excessive air flow, i.e. a draft. The humidified air is evacuated evenly over the entire floor plan of the stable.
Since the inlet openings are arranged on the stable ceiling, the air that has the greatest relative humidity content is preferably transported away if it is taken into account that the stable walls and ceiling have already cooled the air rising from the animals. Special devices for the separate supply of fresh air do not have to be provided, since the usual ventilation options are sufficient for this.
The fact that the channel runs on the stable ceiling, i.e. inside the stable, also has the advantage that the transported air cannot cool down during transport, so that undesirable condensation in the exhaust channel is excluded.
Some embodiments of the invention are shown in the drawing. 1 shows an overall view of the device according to the invention, FIG. 2 shows a partial floor plan of another device according to the invention, FIG. 3 shows a section through a detail of the invention, FIG. 4 shows a perspective view of a pipe section for a channel of the device according to the invention FIG. 5 shows a side view of the pipe section according to FIG. 4, FIG. 6 shows a section through the representation of FIG. 5 according to the section line VI-VI,

14 shows a further embodiment of a pipe section for a channel of the device according to the invention.
1-3 show that the pipe section 1 is passed through the outer wall 2 and is provided with a louvre-like grille 4 at its opening 3. A housing 6 is pushed onto the pipe section 1 in the interior 5 of the stable and accommodates the motor 7 and the fan wheel 8 driven by the motor. In the exemplary embodiments according to FIGS. 1 and 3, the housing 6 is adjoined by a pipe section 9, onto which further pipe sections 10 are in turn pushed. At the rear end 12 of the last pipe section, the channel formed by the pipe sections 9 and 10 is closed.
In the modified exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 2, a branch 13 adjoins the housing 6, so that the two branch channels 14 and 15 are formed.
The pipe sections 9 and 10 and also the pipe sections of the channels 14 and 15 are provided with air inlet openings 16. These air inlet openings are evenly distributed on the duct. The cross sections of the openings further away from the fan are larger than the cross sections of the openings adjacent to the fan. This ensures that approximately the same amount of air is sucked in through each opening 16.
FIGS. 1 and 3 show that the outer part of the channel has a slight downward gradient. The inclination of this part of the duct is about 1 in 5 to 1 in 15. If the fan is switched off and the outside temperature is higher than the inside temperature, then the warmer and lighter outside air tends to penetrate the duct without the support of the fan and into it to climb up. It will mix with the heavier, more humid stable air at least in the area of the air inlet openings adjacent to the fan, and in the lower area of the duct a countercurrent will form which is directed outwards.
In this way, even if the fan is switched off, ventilation can be achieved, albeit less intensive. The motor 7, for which the switch 17 (FIG. 1) is provided, has two directions of rotation, so that the fan wheel 8 either conveys the air to the outside or blows fresh air into the interior 5 of the stable. Optionally, the switchable motor 7 with the one impeller 8 can also be replaced by two oppositely directed impellers, which can optionally be coupled to a simple motor.
In order to be able to put the channel out of operation in winter or when there are relatively few cattle in the barn, a closure cap 18 is provided (FIG. 3), which is brought from the open position into the closed position by a control rod with handle 19 can be and vice versa. A removable cover, not shown, of the slot openings 16 serves the same purpose.
The channel arranged on the stable ceiling for the device according to the invention should on the one hand have the largest possible cross-section in order to keep the resistance of the air conveyed in the channel by the fan as low as possible. On the other hand, the channel or the pipe pieces that make up the channel should have a low weight in order to make the assembly of the channel as simple as possible. For this purpose, it is proposed that the pipe sections be constructed from individual plastic plates that are glued or welded to one another, this construction also having the advantage of being insensitive to moisture. The pipe sections can have a rectangular shape in cross section, as is indicated in FIG. 8 for the pipe section 10.
Each pipe section has a sleeve 20 at one end for connection to the next pipe section. It is attached to the stable ceiling 21 by means of a tab 22 which is firmly connected to the pipe section.
It has been found that pipe sections with a triangular cross-sectional shape have particular advantages. It is true that with the same internal cross-section, the cost of materials is somewhat greater for a triangular tube shape than for a square tube shape. The particular advantage of triangular tubes, however, is that they can be manufactured very easily if they are made of plastic sheets. Each edge of the tubular body requires one work step and the work involved in forming the fourth edge is significantly greater than the somewhat increased cost of materials.
Another advantage of the triangular pipes is that they hardly obstruct the air flow on the stable ceiling. Triangular pipes form obtuse angles with the stable ceiling, which makes it easier to extract air from the ceiling. Furthermore, since the individual surfaces of the channel or the pipe section are directed both downwards and to the side in triangular pipe sections, the intake area of the air inlet openings to be arranged in these surfaces becomes relatively large. The surfaces themselves for the arrangement of these air inlet openings are also wide, which facilitates the arrangement of the air inlet openings.
This applies in particular if, instead of the simple slots 16, short suction nozzles or the like are provided, which allow air to be drawn in with the least possible resistance.
Such a pipe section with a triangular cross-section is shown for example in FIGS. 4 to 6. This pipe section 23 is formed from a single plastic plate, which had a width of about 50 cm before processing. This plate is made by folding or bending at the edges 24 and 25 (Fig. 6) and by welding the edge
<Desc / Clms Page number 3>
26 shaped a tube. The sleeve 27 (Fig. 4) is designed in the same way.
While in the embodiment according to FIGS. 4 and 6 the individual surfaces of the pipe section 23 have the same width, the pipe section 36 according to FIG. 7 is held in the form of a right triangle in cross section. Such a pipe section is preferably used in the corner between the ceiling and the walls of the room to be ventilated. The use of such pipe pieces 36 is particularly recommended in low rooms in which the laying of the channels on the stable ceiling at a distance from the walls would be a hindrance.
In the exemplary embodiments according to FIGS. 4 to 7, the air inlet openings 28 and 29 are obtained in that a U-shaped cut is first made in the pipe wall 30. The part 31 enclosed by this cut is bent outwards along its connection 32, whereby heating along the edge 32 is of course expedient. In the desired position of the surface 31, triangular pieces 34 are inserted laterally and these are welded or glued to the wall 30 and the part 31. In this way, downwardly directed openings can be obtained.
In FIG. 4, the arrow 35 shows the direction of flow of the air in the pipe section 23. The opening 28 is kept smaller than the opening 29 in accordance with this flow direction.
In the exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 9 and 10, the air inlet openings 37 and 38 are obtained by first making slots or incisions 41 in the pipe wall 39 of the pipe section 40. In addition to the slot, the pipe wall is shaped into an outward curvature 42.
The embodiment according to FIGS. 11 to 13 differs from that according to FIGS. 9 and 10 essentially in that, in addition to the bulge 43 on one side of the slot 44, the tube wall 45 is also provided with an inwardly directed bulge 46. The direction of the slot 44 can be freely selected, so that suction openings are created in any direction. In particular, when the slots 44 are arranged vertically, as shown in the drawing, a constriction with a correspondingly increased air speed is created directly at the suction opening in the channel, which improves the air suction.
In the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 14, the air inlet openings 47 and 48 of the pipe section 49 are arranged in the glued edge 50. To achieve this, the plate to be formed into the pipe section can be provided with recesses before the deformation process and it is also possible to use the. Only partially apply the weld to the edge 50 and subsequently widen the remaining gap.
