Electrical connection device The object of the present invention is an electrical connection device comprising a cylindrical male part which taps into a corresponding female part,
the male part having a sleeve movable axially by hand so as to make it possible to control a locking device for said parts, this locking device having at least one tongue integral with: said male part and the free end of which penetrates into a corresponding housing of the female part.
This device is characterized in that one of said parts has, mounted in a sealed manner, a sleeve extending below said locking device and the free end of which cooperates in a sealed manner with the other part when these two parts are nested and locked.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, one embodiment of the subject of the present invention.
The only figure in the drawing is a longitudinal cut.
The connection device shown is formed of two parts, one male 1, and the other female 2, fitting together and connecting them. conductors 3.
The male part 1 comprises a tubular element 4, a sleeve 5 fixed to the external face of this element by screwing and cut longitudinally so as to provide elastic tongues 6 of which only one of these is visible in the drawing, and finally a tightening chicken 7.
Each of these tongues has at its free end a notch 6a of triangular shape engaged in a corresponding opening 8a that has a sleeve 8 capable of sliding axially relative to the element 4 in contact with the uncut part of the sleeve 5. This bush 8 also has, on its outer face, three annular knurls 8b intended to facilitate manual axial displacement of the bush.
A conductor 3 is engaged by its end in a conical sleeve 10, slit longitudfale = ment so as to ensure a certain: transverse elasticity and in contact by its external face with the walls of a housing lla provided in the body l lb a contact piece 11.
This body has a bearing surface 11c on which protrudes a contact finger 11d, the functiion of which will be described later. The part 11 is engaged in an insulating block 12 arranged with light friction within the element 4 and pressing by an annular surface against a recess 4a of this element. 13 is a seal disposed between this block and this element.
In its central part, this block 12 has a cylindrical opening 12b of dimension corresponding to the diameter of the surface 11c of the part 11 on which it is engaged in a sealed manner with the interposition of a seal 14.
The tightening of the sleeve 10 on the braid 3a of the conductor 3 is carried out in. the embodiment represented by a nut 15 enveloping the sheath 3b and screwed onto the part 11. This nut and the body 11b of this part are capped by an insulating cap 16 in contact by a collar 16a on the one hand, with the internal face of element 4 and, on the other hand, with block 12. 17 is a collet consisting of:
annular base 17a fitted around the cap 16 and having arms 17b surrounding this cap, the end of which has teeth 17c in contact with the external surface of an insulating sleeve 18.
These arms are clamped on this socket by the action of a part 19 engaged in a sealed manner in the body 4 around the sheath 3b of the conductor 3 and acting on the bevelled end 17d of the arms 17b by a face 19a cut so tapered. The clamping of these arms on the sleeve 18 is controlled by simply screwing the chicken 7 and corresponding displacement of the part 19 in the direction f1 The female part 2 of the device is formed by a sleeve 20 of diameter
internal corresponding to the external diameter of the sleeve 8 at 20a and of a diameter substantially equal to that of the element 4 at 20b.
In part 20a is formed an annular groove 21 of rectangular section in which the notch 6a elastically engages; provided, of course, that the male part of the plug is sufficiently inserted into the female part.
This notch can not be released from the groove 21, neither by operating a united traction on the chicken 7 or the cable 3, nor by acting on the socket 20 or on the not shown conductor which is fixed to it.
Indeed, any axial action of this kind only has the consequence of pressing the straight part of the notch 6a even more strongly against the corresponding face of the groove 21 so that the locking of the parts 1 and 2. Is further improved. In addition, any compression,
exerted on the two parts can not unlock them either because a range 20c of this sleeve 20 prevents sufficient movement of the element 4 to produce the bending of the tongues 6 by the action of the edge 21a of the slot 21 on the bevel of notch 6a.
The two parts: 1 and 2 of the device can only be uncoupled by acting on the sleeve 8, by manual sliding of this sleeve in direction f2. In doing so,
the edge of the opening 21a facing the bevelled part of the notch 6a cooperates with this part as this sliding progresses and causes the corresponding sipe 6 to bend in the direction f., up to l complete extraction of the notch 6a of the groove 21. The male part 1 can therefore be easily released from the inside of the part 20a of the part 2.
The seal between the sleeve 20. And the tubular element 4 is obtained when the parts 1 and 2 are coupled and locked by the extension of said element 4 which passes below the tabs and extends beyond their ends to cooperate with a seal 22 disposed in a housing 23 provided in the internal face of part 20b of the female element.
When the device 'is intended to be placed in a fluid of relatively high pressure, this seal may, in a variant not shown, be reinforced by adding a second elastic ring, similar to.
the ring 22 cooperating with the element 4, the end part of which would then of course be dimensioned accordingly.
The electrical connection of parts 1 and 2 is carried out at the same time as their mechanical coupling. Thus, by engaging the part 1 in the part 2, the finger 11d of the part 11 is also made to penetrate into a ring of lamellae 24a with which a second contact part 24 fixed in the socket 20 by the intermediate insulating rings 25 and 26.
These rings are clamped against a shoulder 20c of the part 20 by the action of a nut 27; seals 28 respectively 29 ensure the seal between the ring 26 and the sleeve 20, respectively between this ring 26 and the contact piece 24:
30 is an elastic ring surrounding the ring of lamellae 24a and exerting on this ring a radial pressure sufficient to maintain good contact between these lamellae and the finger 11d so as to avoid the production of arcs. between these parts.
The conductor to be connected to the cable 3 by means of the device shown is fixed to a threaded rod 24d with which the contact piece 24 is provided by tightening a nut 30a and a lock nut 30b.
In order to allow its tight fixing to a partition such as 31, the sleeve 20 is provided, on the one hand, with a collar 32 in which an annular housing 32a is provided for a seal 33 and, on the other hand, a thread 34 onto which is screwed a tightening nut 35 acting on an intermediate washer 36.
In a variant, it would be possible to adapt the sealing device described to a connection device having another locking device. In addition, if the connection device described is used essentially for high voltages, it can also be used at high frequency and be arranged so as to have several contacts.
