Description

Expansion joint for the flexible and tight assembly of two pipes The present invention relates to an expansion joint for the flexible and tight assembly of two pipes, in particular of plastic material, the first of which has, at its end, a sleeve into which the second pipe is liable to enter.

This seal is characterized by the fact that it comprises a sealing gasket of elastic material mounted on the second pipe and comprising two opposite conical lips elastically enclosing said second pipe, this gasket also having a peripheral shoulder capable of being centered and locked between an annular face of the end of said sleeve, constituting a fixed retaining shoulder, and a corresponding housing inside a movable ring sliding on said second pipe.

The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the present invention.

Fig. 1 shows the mounted expansion joint and seen in longitudinal section.

Fig. 2 also shows in longitudinal section the partially dismantled expansion joint. The gasket 1 of the expansion joint, made of resilient material, carries a peripheral shoulder 2 intended to be centered and blocked between a fixed retaining shoulder formed by the end face 6 of a sleeve 4 provided at the end of the first pipe, and a corresponding housing 10 provided inside a movable ring 3 sliding on the second pipe 9.

The movable ring 3 is provided with an internal thread 5, cooperating with an external thread 5 'provided on the periphery of the sleeve 4, to allow the locking of the shoulder 2 and, therefore, the positioning of the gasket 1 on the two pipes. The gasket 1 comprises, on the other hand, a lower conical lip 7 and an opposite upper conical lip 8, which elastically enclose the second pipe 9.

The advantages of the expansion joint shown are multiple.

The blocking of the shoulder 2 of the lining by clamping the movable ring 3 on the sleeve 4 first of all makes it possible to position and stabilize the lining 1 which can no longer move. In addition, the pressure exerted on the shoulder 2 causes the gasket 1 to protrude slightly, which more strongly encloses the pipe 9, ensuring a watertight connection.

Despite this blockage of the seal 1, the elasticity of the conical lips 7 and 8 remains sufficient to make up for any unevenness or a small variation in the diameter of the pipe 9 and to make it possible to compensate for the axial expansion A or transverse B of this pipe. 9. As shown in FIG. 2, it is possible, by unscrewing the movable ring 3, to release the gasket 1 in order to move the pipe 9 axially, which allows the inspection, cleaning and even the wise greasing of the expansion joint.

The positioning is facilitated by the centering obtained by screwing the movable ring 3 on the thread 5 'of the receiving sleeve 4.

The stripping and dismantling are made impossible by the large expansion safety coefficient and the tightening of the lining over a very large adhesion surface compensating for any defect in the pipe 9.

The application of this expansion joint extends to all pipes and conduits of liquid and gaseous fluids, and even of powdery or pasty products.
