(fig.
Bogie with two traction motors and three coupled axles, for a railway vehicle The invention relates to a bogie with two traction motors and three coupled axles, for a railway vehicle.
The three-axle bogie which is the subject of the invention is characterized in that the two traction motors are identical, fully suspended and located between the axles, each motor driving one end axle and the middle axle through a series. cylindrical toothed wheels meshing with each other, these two series of transmission toothed wheels being arranged one on one side of the longitudinal axis of the bogie and the other on the other side of this axis and symmetrically by relative to a vertical axis passing through the center of the bogie.
The bogie forming the subject of the invention has the following advantages: It ensures a rational use of the weight by the coupling of the 3 axles and, this, whatever the mode of connection between the body and the bogie.
It allows the production of fully suspended mechanism housings of relatively short length possessing the qualities of rigidity compatible with good meshing of the toothed wheels.
It has the effect of reducing the moment of inertia of the bogie around a vertical axis passing through the center of the central axle and, consequently, of reducing the lateral actions of the axles on the track, a valuable quality for high speed vehicles.
In addition, the two traction motors being placed between the axles, the whole bogie fits easily under the body of the locomotive, without any penetration of the motors into the body, which leaves the interior of this last fully available for its layout. An embodiment of the bogie according to the invention is described below, by way of example, with reference to the appended drawing in which FIG. 1 shows a bogie seen schematically in elevation.
Fig. 2 shows this bogie seen in plan.
Fig. 3 shows a plan of a modification that can be made to said bogie.
The bogie shown in Figs. 1 to 3 comprises a frame 1 mounted in a known manner on three axles 2, ,, 21,, 2 ,. Between said axles are arranged. two motors 3 and 3 ', the axes of the armatures of which are perpendicular to the longitudinal axis XX' of the bogie and located in a horizontal plane.
The pinion 4 of the motor 3 (fig. 1) drives, by means of a series of cylindrical toothed wheels 5, 5, 5v, 5, meshing between them, the end axle 2.and the middle axle 2b.
In the same way and, by means of a series of cylindrical toothed wheels 5 ', 5'u, 5'b and 5' ,, identical to the previous series of wheels, the pinion 4 'of the motor 3' drives end axle 2, and middle axle 2v.
Each series of wheels is enclosed in a sealed casing 6 or 6 'which is centered on the flange of the corresponding motor 3 or 3', on the side of the pinion 4 or 4 'respectively. Each housing is attached to the corresponding engine and to the bogie frame 1.
The assembly formed by each motor and its mechanism is fully suspended and this arrangement also makes it possible to produce a particularly rigid casing.
The two motors 3 and 3 'and their respective mechanisms are identical, but arranged symmetrically with respect to the vertical axis YY' passing through the center of the bogie (fig. 1). As a result of this arrangement, one of the mechanisms is located to the right of the longitudinal axis XX 'of the bogie and the other is located to the left of said axis.
The center axle 2L is thus driven bilaterally by the. two motors 3 and 3 'and this driving mode provides a kinematic connection between the central axle 2b and the end axles 2Q and 2 ,.
The drive wheels 5a, 5, and 5'a, 5 ',. axles are set on hollow shafts 7u, 7, and 7 ', 7' ,. and the connection between each hollow shaft and the corresponding axle is produced by one of the known conventional devices allowing free movement of the axle inside the hollow shaft.
In the end axles 2 ,, and 2, ,, this link can be unilateral, as shown in fig. 2, or bilateral as in FIG. 3. It is either rigid in torsion or preferably elastic.
The central axle 2b is driven, on each side, by the drive wheel 5, 5 ', (fig. 2) of each of the two mechanisms by means of conventional known devices, as for the outer axles, preferably, elastic torsion.
It is obvious that the intermediate gears 5, 5b, etc., can be omitted or, on the contrary, replaced by reduction gear trains, or even by any gear trains allowing the mechanism housings 6 to be placed, 6 'on the outside of the wheels, in particular for motor vehicles intended to run on narrow or metric tracks with internal rockets.
A variant of the drive of the middle axle 2b, shown in FIG. 3, consists in driving the median axle by means of a cake 8, made integral with the axle at any point situated between the wheel hubs.
The connection between the cake 8 and the hollow shafts 7. and 7 ',. (Fig. 3) transmitting the torque from each of the two motors 3 and 3 'is also produced by a conventional -dispositif, preferably elastic in torsion.
The connection between the end axles 2 ,, and 2 is thus ensured, either by: the intermediary of the central axle in the first case (fig. 2), or by the cake 8 in the second solution (fig. 3).
The first arrangement leaves the space located above the body of the central axle free and allows the bogie connection device to be accommodated therein with the body. The second solution has the advantage of removing the central axle from the interfering actions between end axles, these being transmitted by the cake 8, so that the middle axle is freed from the torsional stresses due to these interfering actions.
