Sealing device for an expansion joint The present invention relates to a sealing device for an expansion joint separating two construction elements, such as two concrete slabs.
Many means have been sought to prevent foreign bodies, as well as water, from entering the expansion joints separating two building elements, for example two concrete slabs. The solutions proposed, which consist mainly in pouring bitumen into the expansion joint, are not entirely satisfactory because the material does not lend itself well to variations in the spacing of the elements due to variations in temperature, so that it There is generally a gap between the filling material and the elements, which gap is easy for water to infiltrate.
The aim of the present invention is to remedy this drawback. -.
The sealing device according to the invention is characterized by the fact that it comprises a sealing gasket consisting of a strip of a flexible and compressible adhesive coating, coating an internal reinforcement, this strip being intended to be bonded to said elements, parallel to said expansion joint which it covers, and having, in line with said joint,
a longitudinal fold allowing said elements to move away or .de approach one another without said strip being subjected to tensile forces, this fold being occupied, internally, by a compressible cushion, elastically deformable.
The single figure of the appended drawing represents in section a part of two concrete slabs, in line with their expansion joint, which is provided with a sealing device constituting one embodiment of the object of the invention. , given as an example.
The two slabs shown are designated respectively by 1 and 2, and are separated by a free space 3 constituting the expansion joint. The latter is covered with a sealing strip constituted by a frame 4 formed of a lique metal mesh, coated with a coating 5, of bituminous rubber, a flexible and compressible material adhering to the concrete. A sheet of polyethylene 6, waterproof and non-stick, covers the exterior of the plaster 5.
The sealing strip has a longitudinal fold, of substantially square cross section, located in line with the expansion joint 3. This fold is occupied internally by a cushion 7, made of foam rubber; this cushion can also be made of polyethylene foam.
A non-stick polyethylene sheet 8 is interposed between the cushion 7 and the strip 5, which is glued, by its side parts 5cc, to the edge of the tiles 1 and 2. Thanks to this arrangement, the tiles 1 and 2 can move away from or approach one another without the sealing strip being subjected to tension; due to the presence of the cushion. 7, the longitudinal fold, which allows the -deformation of the strip, does not crush.
It should be noted that this sealing device is mainly applicable to expansion joints placed in places where no direct pressure is exerted, for example in the case of roads in a console. The seal being protruding, it will preferably be embedded in a layer of protective material.
As a variant, the frame 4 may be formed of a fabric or be made of nylon; the sheet of non-stick material may be polyvinyl chloride, such as the product brand Plasto-syn.
