Wastewater treatment plant Biological purification of wastewater or polluted liquids by the activated sludge process consists of aeration of the water in the presence of flakes < B> mud which, by absorption and with the help of aerobic micro-organisms, reduce organic matter. To obtain a clear final effluent, the activated sludge must be separated by settling.
Generally, the aeration basin and the decanter constitute two separate structures. The settled sludge must then be continuously pumped back to the aeration basin to start the purification process again. If the two structures could be combined and pumping eliminated, the result would be a significant saving in construction and operating costs.
The present invention aims to achieve the object indicated above. It relates to a wastewater treatment installation comprising a basin comprising at least one compartment for a6ration of the wastewater. water provided with an air supply device in the lower part of the compartment and at least one activated sludge settling compartment, a partition separating these two compartments, a passage in the lower part of the partition bringing the two compartments together , a pipe carrying the waste water into the aeration compartment and a spillway allowing the discharge of clarified water out of the settling compartment.
This installation is characterized by a substantially vertical wall disposed inside the interior of the ventilation compartment near , said partition wall, in front of the < / B> communication passage of the corner-compartments, the upper edge of this wall being submerged and its lower edge being located at distance from the bottom of the ventilation compartment, the everything being arranged so that under the effect of aeration an upward movement of water occurs in the central part of the aeration compartment, the aerated water then undergoing a downward movement between the partition and said wall, to faster than that of the upward movement, ahead of the step of communication,
to entrain the sedimented sludge in the aeration compartment.
The single figure of the attached drawing represents, schematically and to by way of example, in section, a form of execution of the installation according to the invention. This wastewater treatment installation comprises a basin 1 comprising two compartments : a first compartment 2 for the aeration of wastewater and a second compartment 3 for decantation of activated sludge. These. two condominiums 2 and 3 are separated by a partition 4.
A passage 5 located in the lower part of. the sound wall 4 connects the two compartments 2 and 3. The bottom 6 of the settling compartment 3 is inclined, so that the horizontal section of this 3 compartment increases from bottom to top, that is to say in the direction of water flow.
A pipe 7 opens into the upper part of compartment 2 to bring wastewater into it. A weir 8 allows the evacuation tion of clarified water out of the settling compartment 3 in the direction of an evacuation pipe 9. An air supply device 10 < / B> is placed in the lower part of compartment 2. This device can be made up of perforated tubes supplied with compressed air to from a compressor placed outside of the pelvis.
In the aeration compartment '2 is arranged, in addition, a substantially vertical wall 11, near of the partition 4, in front of the passage 5 communication-compartments 2 and 3. The upper edge 12 of this wall il is located below level 13 of water in the 1 basin and is therefore submerged. The lower edge 14 of this wall It is located at a certain distance from the bottom 15 of compartment 2. This wall -11 defines, with the partition 4, a channel 16 in which a downward movement of water takes place during the operation of the installation.
Indeed, this one takes place in the following way : The water to to be treated arrives by the pipe 7 and flows into compartment 2. Compressed air is dispersed through the perforated tubes of the 10 device in the body of water. The rise of air bubbles in this body of water causes an upward movement of the whole body in the central part of the ventilation compartment 2.
After release of the air bubbles at the surface, these aerated waters then undergo an accelerated downward movement after having passed over the edge 12 of the wall 11 and s' be engaged Cr in the channel 16 determined between said wall II and the partition 4.
The section of this channel being notably less than that of the section of the rest of compartment 2, the speed of the downward movement of water in this channel is greater than that of the upward movement in the central part. compartment 2. Preferably, the ratio of these sections is chosen from the order of 1 to 10, the descending speed of the water in channel 16 is therefore ten times higher than the upward speed in the central part of compartment 2.
This downward movement of water in channel 16 passing in front of passage 5 causes the entrainment of activated sludge settled in the compartment. 3. The acceleration of the movement of water passing between the edge 14 of the wall 11 and the bottom 15 of compartment 2 causes these activated sludge to </ B > again in the aeration compartment 2 where the purification process begins again.
The wastewater flow arriving through the pipe 7 moves, according to the principle of communicating vessels, the same volume through the passage < B> 5 from where it enters the settling compartment 3. Due to the increase in horizontal section of the compartment 3 < / B> from bottom to top, the flow of water in this compartment is more and more reduced in speed, so to allow the mud flakes to settle and to concentrate near the passage 5. The water which flows through the weir 8 is thus effectively clarified to the maximum.
The shape, dimensions and number of compartments of the installation described above may vary according to the wastewater flows to to be treated. In some embodiments, the basin 1 will have, in plan view, a rectangular shape. In this case, the passage 5 will have the form of a slit extending over the entire length of the pelvis. Likewise, the passage between the edge 14 of the wall 11 and the bottom 15 of the compartment 2 will also determine a slot extending along the entire length of the pool.
In the embodiment shown, the installation comprises only a single aeration compartment 2 and a single settling compartment 3. As a variant, this installation could comprise a central compartment. aeration 2 and two settling corners 3 located on either side of the central compartment 2. In this case, a wall 11 would be placed near each of the side faces of compartment 2.
As a further variant, the basin 1, instead of having a rectangular shape in plan, could have a circular shape, the settling compartment 3 forming a ring around of the ventilation compartment 2. In this case, the wall 11 would be cylindrical inside the inside of the ventilation compartment 2. The depth at which is the diffusion & air by the device 10 can be varied according to the flow rate and the concentration of waste water to to be treated.
As for this device 10 for diffusing air, instead of being constituted by perforated tubes supplied with air from from a compressor, it could be constituted by a device with air dispersion under the effect of centrifugal force by a wheel embedded in the compartment 2 and driven in rapid rotation to from #Tun engine located above the 13 water level. In this case, air is sucked by the impeller at through its shaft & drive which is hollow and dispersed at the periphery of this impeller during its rotation.
