Le dessin ci-annexé représente, à titre d'exemple, quelques formes d'exécution de l'électro-aimant selon la présente invention. La fig. 1 est une vue en coupe verticale d'un électro-aimant à une bobine ; la fig. 2 une vue en plan avec coupe horizontale de l'âme de l'électro-aimant représenté à la fig. 1 ; la fig. 3 une vue en coupe verticale d'un électroaimant à deux bobines ; la fig. 4 une vue .en plan de la pièce mobile de l'électro-aimant représenté à la fig. 3 ;
<Desc/Clms Page number 2>

Electromagnet The present invention relates to an electromagnet and aims to avoid the drawbacks arising from residual magnetization.
Despite all the care taken in the production of the electromagnets, in many cases, operating failures are observed which are due to the fact that the moving part attracted by the core of the electromagnet remains stuck to the core after cutting of the current instead of moving away from it under the effect of a force which requests it: spring, weight or any other force.
If the return force is large, sticking is unlikely to occur. This is the case of large devices used for braking, locking, lifting, etc. On the contrary, when the forces in play are weak, the attraction due to the remanent magnetism can be preponderant and the part attracted by the core remains stuck.
The consequences of this failure, which suddenly stops a controlled movement, can be serious in certain circumstances and the total elimination of this risk would provide increased safety in the use of electromagnets.
The present invention provides an effective solution to this problem which, opposing the sticking of the movable part against the core of the electromagnet, further facilitates the separation of the parts in contact as soon as the current is cut off.
The electromagnet according to the present invention is characterized in that its core and / or its moving part are provided with a plastic lining having a bead forming a spring, maintaining a small air gap and preventing the moving part from sticking to. the core after power cut.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, some embodiments of the electromagnet according to the present invention. Fig. 1 is a vertical sectional view of a single coil electromagnet; fig. 2 a plan view with horizontal section of the core of the electromagnet shown in FIG. 1; fig. 3 a view in vertical section of an electromagnet with two coils; fig. 4 a plan view of the moving part of the electromagnet shown in FIG. 3;
fig. 5 a bottom view of the electromagnet shown in FIG. 3 and from which the moving part has been separated; fig. 6 a vertical sectional view of an electromagnet with three coils; fig. 7 a plan view of the moving part of the electromagnet shown in FIG. 6; fig. 8 a view in vertical section of an electromagnet with a coil with a moving part constituted by a metal disc and a guide tail made of non-magnetic plastic material, and FIG. 9 a plan view of the electromagnet shown in FIG. 8.
If we refer to fig. 1, we see at 1 and 2 the two constituent parts of an electromagnet casing which are shown assembled by screwing, but which could be by simple interlocking with smooth joints.
3 denotes a coil mounted in a tubular support 4 made of plastic with flanges 41, forming an insulation.
5 denotes an orifice made in the support and in the carcass for the entry of the son of the coil. 6 denotes a soft iron core constituting the movable part of the electromagnet which slides in an opening 7 of the frame and in the tubular part of the support 4.
Note the presence of longitudinal plastic tabs 8 embedded in the core
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
6 which ensure the guiding of the latter while achieving its isolation with the part 2.
An elastic film 9 envelops the core 6 and interconnects the tongues 8 with which it forms a continuous envelope.
The core 6 has at its end situated inside the electromagnet a lining 10 comprising a thin film and a peripheral bead intended to come into contact with a cylindrical projection 11 that the present part 2. This projection is engaged inside the tubular support 4 and forms the core of the electromagnet described.
Transverse grooves are made in the bead 101 preventing any suction cup effect.
The operation of the electromagnet described is the same as that of similar devices: the core 6 being separated from the core 11 (position of FIG. 1), the activation of the coil has the effect of attracting this core inside the carcass (1, 2) until the lining 10 comes into contact via its bead 101 with the projection 11.
Given the presence of the gasket 10 and the bead 101, a certain air gap is maintained which limits the value of the magnetic attraction.
When the current is cut, the attraction ceases and soul 6 is released. This release is favored and accelerated by virtue of the elastic force exerted by the lining 10 and by its bead which, compressed by the core 6 at the moment of attraction, suddenly relax and push back the latter, eliminating any risk of sticking.
Figs. 3, 4 and 5 show an electromagnet with two coils 3, 31 and comprising a movable part 12 which is provided with linings 13 with bead 131 arranged around the periphery of the two faces 14 of this movable part.
This is how, as in the case of FIG. 1, an air gap which limits the magnetic attraction to a predetermined value and the bead 131 of each lining promotes and accelerates the removal of the part 12 from the ends 15 of the branches of the core when the excitation current is cut.
It can be seen in FIG. 4, grooves 16 made in the bead of the lining 13, which, as before, avoid the suction cup effect which would undoubtedly occur when the packing is compressed and which would tend to oppose the subsequent removal of the moving part.
The embodiment of FIGS. 6 and 7 constitute an electromagnet with three coils 3, 31, 32, the operation of which is similar in all respects to the operation of that of FIG. 3.
We find the moving part 17 with its contact faces 18 and the air gap linings 19 with beads provided with grooves 20.
Figs. 8 and 9 show a specially designed electromagnet which comprises a casing 21 having a tubular central portion and a tubular outer portion forming the core of the electromagnet. The carcass is lined with a spool 22 mounted in a plastic support 23 similar to that of the spools of the preceding figures. The movable part here consists of a magnetic metal disc 24, carried by a rod 25 of vulcanized plastic material on the disc 24 with which it forms a whole. The rod 25 is guided in a bore 26 of the carcass 21 by fins 27.
There is, covering the internal face of the disc 24, a plastic contact lining comprising a thin film 28 and a circular bead 29, as well as grooves 30 preventing the suction cup effect. This embodiment has several remarkable properties: the rod, made of plastic material does not naturally magnetize and any remanence effect is thereby avoided compared to embodiments of magnetic metals. This rod, moreover, is flexible and no breakage is to be feared. The movement of the moving part (disc 24) is particularly flexible.
The action of the magnetic flux on the disc is greatly favored by the large relative dimension of the core of the electromagnet, the attractive force of which is powerfully exerted on the disc 24.
Finally, the plastic lining which covers the disc brings here again the advantage of its double action which slightly limits the attractive force of the electromagnet at the end of travel of the disc 24, by maintaining a thin air gap, and sharply moves the disc away when the current is cut off by the elastic force of the bead.
The bead of the plastic fittings has been shown in the various figures around the periphery of the moving part. This bead could have another shape: rectilinear, cross, or be placed differently or be placed on the core of the electromagnet and even both on the latter and on the moving part.
In the particular case of FIG. 8, the moving part 24 is a valve of which the needle can be seen at 31, which will close or uncover the passage orifice of a seat, not shown.
