Flow regulator for a gaseous medium The present invention relates to a flow regulator for a gaseous medium, which has a passage for the medium, one wall of which is movable and on the one hand under the effect of the static pressure of the medium at the inlet of the flow regulator and on the other hand is under the action of a spring force which tends to keep the wall in a predetermined position.
It was previously known to use automatic flow regulators in ventilation systems in order to ensure an even supply of air to various points in the ventilation system. Due to the transition to high-speed systems with the resulting relatively high working pressure and the simultaneously increased requirements with regard to the elimination of noises, the problem of attenuating the noises occurring in the regulators and the air injection devices has become even more difficult.
The main aim of the present invention is to create a controller which meets the high requirements in terms of noise reduction and at the same time has good control properties, and which can also be used as a shut-off valve.
The flow regulator according to the invention is characterized in that the passage is formed in such a way that for each position of the movable wall, the length of the passage in the flow direction is greater than five times the hydraulic diameter of the same, and that the hydraulic diameter of the passage is dimensioned in this way is
that the Reynolds number does not exceed 2000 for the highest flow velocity of the mediunis. In order to prevent the occurrence of disturbing noises as far as possible, the walls of the passage are expediently covered with a sound-absorbing material.
Furthermore, in order to avoid the need for a special shut-off element for the gaseous medium, the movable wall can be arranged in such a way that the passage can be completely blocked by hand.
While in earlier embodiments of the flow regulator the pressure energy released during throttling is converted into increased energy of the medium in the form of eddies, which releases acoustic energy, the inventive design of the passage causes a laminar flow without eddy formation, which results in a noiseless reduction in pressure can be reached.
The measure of the degree of vortex occurrence is namely the respective Reynolds number, which is the product of the flow velocity of the medium and the hydraulic diameter of the relevant flow channel, divided by the kine matic viscosity of the flowing medium is defined.
Due to disturbances at the inlet of the channel, however, a laminar flow does not occur immediately even with a low Reynolds number, and the passage is therefore of such a length that there is enough time to build up a laminar flow.
In the accompanying drawings, an exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown schematically. They show: FIG. 1 a flow regulator in a longitudinal section, FIG. 1 a on a larger scale a detail and FIG. 2 on a larger scale a section along the line II-11 in FIG . 1.
The flow regulator 1 is connected to a line 2 for a gaseous medium via an opening 2a. The housing 3 of the flow regulator 1 encloses a space 4 which is directly connected to the line 2 and which runs out into an outlet chamber 5 of smaller width. The housing wall is shaped in the vicinity of the outlet chamber 5 in such a way that it can serve as a seat for a valve body 6 arranged movably in space 4. The passage for the medium between this valve body 6 and the housing wall is labeled 7 .
The valve body 6 has the shape of an elongated plate and is held by two rods 8 , the ends of which in each have two sleeves 9, 10 are arranged displaceably. The valve body 6 and the housing wall 3 are clad with a sound-absorbing material 6a or 3a. Each rod 8 extends through a sleeve 11 which is fastened to the valve body 6 and is displaceable on the rod. The sleeves 11 are enclosed by seals 18 . Furthermore, driver disks 14, on which the seals 18 rest, as long as no pressure acts on the valve body 6 , are clamped onto the rods 8 .
The valve body 6 is under the static pressure prevailing in the Raunie 4, which is directed against the action of a helical spring 12 arranged around each rod 8 . One end of each helical spring 12 is supported on the valve body 6 while the other end is supported against a spring plate 15 which is attached to a stop 13 Rod 8 is in contact. In order to obtain a good seal against the rod 8 , there is a membrane 17 </ B between the spring plate 15 and the stop 13 > provided, which is carried by plates 16 , which plates 16 are attached to the end walls of the outlet chamber 5 .
Sealing cushions 23 made of felt or the like are also arranged on the plates 16.
In order to be able to set the valve body 6 in different positions or to block the passage 7 completely, the rods 8 can be adjusted axially. This takes place by means of levers 20 which are fastened on a shaft 21. This shaft 21 can be rotated by means of an actuating member, not shown. The free end of each lever 20 carries a finger 22 which is in engagement with a sleeve 19 fastened in the upper part of the rod 8 . The settings of the rod 8 are transmitted to the valve body 6 via the driver disks 14 in a non-positive but non-positive manner.
The mode of operation of the flow regulator is as follows - If no medium is fed in line 2 and the valve body 6 is not influenced by any pressure, it rests on the two rods 8 </ B> fixed discs 14 and the position of the valve body is only determined by the position of these rods.
When the medium is fed into the line 2, a static pressure is generated at the inlet of the flow regulator which influences the valve body and presses it closer against the valve seat. This movement is counteracted by the springs 12 pressing against the valve body, and the valve body assumes a position in which these two forces acting in opposite directions are in equilibrium.
The spring force must be calculated in such a way that, given a presumed pressure in the supply line, the position of the valve body releases a flow zone that allows the intended amount of medium to pass through. If the pressure increases for any reason, the valve body moves against the valve seat, and if, conversely, the pressure drops, it moves away from the valve seat, whereby the amount of medium is always automatically kept constant.
As can be seen from FIGS. 1 and 2, the flow regulator is now designed in such a way that the length of the passage in the flow direction is greater than five times the hydraulic diameter of the same, and the The hydraulic diameter of the passage is such that the Reynolds number does not exceed 2000 for the highest flow rate of the medium. This largely prevents the annoying noises.
In order to increase this effect, the walls of the passage are clothed with sound-absorbing material. In order to change the initial position of the valve body or to close the passage completely, the rods 8 can be axially displaced with the aid of the adjusting device 20 to 22.
