La fig. 1 est une vue en coupe d'un appareil de gonflement préalable que comprend ladite forme d'exécution de l'installation;
la fig. 2 est une vue en élévation d'un moule que comprend aussi cette forme d'exécution de l'instailla- tison;
la fig. 3 est une vue latérale de ce moule;
Plant for the production of objects from a swollen synthetic polymer
The present invention relates to an installation for the manufacture of objects in a synthetic polymer goilMlé, in particular panels of rigid foam of swollen polystyrene. Such panels can be used as thermal or acoustic insulation. They can be combined with coatings of wood, metal, mesh or other synthetic plastics.
The use of synthetic rigid foam construction elements only gained a certain extent in the latter. years. This use suddenly became widespread, so that production facilities originally intended more for research and testing than for industrial production were employed.
The object of the present invention is an installation for the manufacture of objects made of a swollen synthetic polymer, for example blocks of rigid foam of swollen polystyrene, meeting the requirements of a rational production.
The installation according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises an apparatus for prior swelling of the pulverulent polymer and a mold having double walls containing cooling coils and the internal faces of which are provided with orifices for the supply of steam in the mold, the bottom of this mole being vertically mobile.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the installation according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is a sectional view of a pre-inflation device that comprises said embodiment of the installation;
fig. 2 is an elevational view of a mold which also comprises this embodiment of the installation;
fig. 3 is a side view of this mold;
fig. 4 is a longitudinal section of this mold, and
fig. 5 is a side section of this mold.
The installation shown is intended for the manufacture of parallelepipeds of rigid swollen polystyrene foam. The raw material used for the manufacture of these blocks is powdered polystyrene.
This installation comprises an apparatus shown in section in FIG. 1, which is a prior inflation device. It comprises a cylindrical container 1 mounted on feet 2 and having a perforated bottom 3. A steam supply line 4, connected to a source of steam, not shown, opens out under the bottom 3. The container 1 is crossed by a shaft 5, mounted in housings 6 and 7 and driven by a motor 8 placed under said said device. container 1. This shaft 5 carries rods 9 arranged radially and located for certain positions of the axis, staggered with respect to rods 10 fixed radially to the internal wall of said container 1. The polystyrol serving as raw material is generally delivered in barrels 11.
A flexible pipe 12 is immersed in this barrel 11, so that the polystyrol is transported pneumatically by a device 13 and discharged into a funnel 14 mounted on a pipe 15. This pipe 15 opens out above the bottom 3. The apparatus 1 has at its upper part an outlet pipe 16. A pipe 17, shown schematically, brings the swollen polystyrol to a mold 18 (fig. 2-5).
The mold 18 is formed by two double walls 19, two double side walls 20, a movable bottom 21 and a movable and double cover 22. It is mounted on a base 23, arranged above a pit 24 dug in the ground. 25. The walls 19 are fixed to the base 23 by means of U-shaped irons 26, bolts 27 and nuts 28. The walls 20 are arranged between the ends of the walls 19 and clamped between these ends by means of tension rods 29 , the tension of which is adjustable.
The inner face of the walls 19 and 20 is provided with small orifices 30 intended to allow steam to pass inside the mold 18. The steam is brought into the walls 19, 20 by a pipe 31 shown schematically in FIG. 2. A manometer 32 makes it possible to control the pressure of this vapor.
An evacuation pipe 32a makes it possible to drain the condensation water accumulating in the mold 18.
The walls 19 each contain a cooling coil 33. These coils 33 are supplied with cooling fluid, generally water, by a supply line 34. The water flows, at the bottom of the mold 18, by a drain line 35.
The cover 22 and the bottom 21 of the mold 18 are actuated by means of pressurized oil supplied from a source not shown by a pipe 36, to a control valve 37. A hydraulic press cylinder 38 is mounted in the pit 24. , and is used to actuate the bottom 21. This cylinder 38 is supplied by a pipe 39.
The cover 22 is suspended from a lever 40 mounted on a support 41 of the rear wall 19 (fig.
5). A counterweight 42 estfixpar an arm 43 to the lever 40. A second hydraulic press cylinder 44 is mounted on the front wall 19. I1 is fed 'by a pipe 45. A bar 46 is articulated on its connecting rod 47. This bar 46 presents to its upper end a transverse rod 48, the whole so as to be able to hold the cover 22 in place by passing the rod 48 above the lever 40 and maintaining the latter in the position of FIG. 5.
A counterweight 49 is fixed at 50 and acts on the bar 46.
The described installation works as follows:
The pulverulent raw material is brought through the pipe 15 above the perforated bottom 3. The steam coming from the pipe 4 causes a first swelling of the grains of material, which increase in volume. As the pulverulent material is poured onto the bottom 3, the already partially swollen grains rise into the container 1. The shaft 5 turns, helping the rods 9. The grains which have a substantially spherical shape and a diameter approximately 0.2 to 1 cm are separated from each other by the two sets of rods 9 and 10. When the grain level reaches the pipe 16, they flow through the pipe 17 shown schematically.
This pipe 17, the end of which is provided with a closing valve opens out above the mold 18. A small intermediate silo can optionally be provided between the preliminary inflation device and the mold 18.
In the rest position, the counterweight 49 maintains the bar 46 in its upper position, so that the cover 22 can be opened, the movable bottom 21 being in the position of FIGS. 4, 5. When the cover 22 is open, the counterweight 42 is supported on a buffer 52. The mold is then filled.
18 of grains previously swollen up to the level of the underside of the cover 22, ie approximately up to line 53 (FIG. 2). The cover 22 is then closed by passing the end of the lever 40 under the rod 48. The valve 37 is then actuated so that the pressurized oil moves the piston of the cylinder 44 downwards. The cover 22 is then retained by the bar 46 and locked in the closed position.
The valve 54 of the steam supply line 31 is then opened and the steam which comes out through the orifices 30 is allowed to act. The polystyrol is then inflated to the maximum, this swelling being limited by the walls of the mold, the grains beforehand. inflated weld to each other and form a rigid foam block. During this operation, the condensate water drain line 32a is closed. The water condensing while the steam acts on the material can escape through the slots existing between the walls 19 and 20. The tension of the rods 29 is adjusted so as to allow passage of this condensation water without causing too much great loss of vapor pressure.
The steam supply is then interrupted. Cold water is then circulated in the coils 33. After sufficient cooling, the valve 37 is actuated so as to connect the cylinder 44 with the oil drain line 51 and the cylinder 38 with the line 36 of oil supply. The counterweight 49 moves the piston of the cylinder 44 so that the cover 22 can be opened, while the bottom 21 lifts the polystyrene block at least partially out of the mold. It can then be transported manually or mechanically to a machining station or to the warehouse.
