EMI1.1
Process for the preparation of polyoletine alcohols
The present invention relates to a process for the preparation of polyolefinic alcohols of the formula
EMI1.1
where R is an alkyl group with 2 to 4 carbon atoms.
The process according to the invention is characterized in that a carboxylic acid ester of an alcohol of the formula
EMI1.2
with allyl rearrangement with an anionotropic s; aural agent is heated and the rearranged ester is hydrolyzed. A lower alkanecarboxylic acid, preferably the acid corresponding to the ester used, is advantageously used as the anionotropic acidic agent.
The hydrolysis of the rearranged esters can e.g. B. be carried out by saponification using aqueous-alcoholic potassium hydroxide solution.
The alcohols of the formula I obtained can be h in the usual way, for. B. by treatment with a carboxylic anhydride, in turn converted into ester.
The polyolefinic alcohols obtained and their acid esters are new compounds which are characterized by their pleasant smell. They can therefore be used as fragrances, as fragrance components or for the production of perfumes.
Example 1 a) A mixture of 500 g of 3-acetoxy-3,7-dimethyl-nonadiene-1,6 and 250 cm3 of glacial acetic acid is heated to boiling under reflux for 4 hours. The acetic acid is then distilled off in vacuo and the residue in. Vacuum carefully fractionated.
The 1-acetoxy-3, 7-dimethyl-nonadiene-2, 6 formed goes over as a fraction with a boiling point of 125 ° C / 9 mm; n25D = 1.4608. b) A solution of 29.5 g of the 1 acetoxy-3, 7-dimethyl-nonadiene-2,6 (n25D = 1,4610), 100 cm3 ethanol, 50 cm3 water and 20 g potassium hydroxide is stirred at 600 ° C. for 2 hours . After observing overnight at room temperature, the reaction mussel is thinned to about 500 cm3 with water and then extracted three times with anhydrous ether. The ether extracts are washed neutral with water and dried over anhydrous calcium sulfate.
It is then fractionated in vacuo, the 3, 7-dimethyl-nonadiene2, 6-o1-1 formed passing over at 89 ° C./1 mm as colorless oil with nid = 1.4748. This alcohol has a pleasant rose-like scent.
By esterifying this alcohol using isobutyric anhydride in the presence of pyridine, the corresponding isobutyric acid ester with a boiling point of 106C / 1.1 mm, n25D = 1.4578 can be obtained therefrom. This ester has a delicate amber-like rosy scent with a fruity note.
Example 2 a) A mixture of 400 g of 3-acetoxy-3, 7, 9-trimethylldecadiene-1, 6 and 200 cm3 of glacial acetic acid is heated to reflux for 4 hours while stirring. The acetic acid is then distilled off in vacuo and the residue is carefully fractionated in vacuo. The fraction passing over at 78-79 CjO.1 mm consists of l-acetoxy-3, 7, 9-trimethyl-decadiene-2, 6 from n2D5 = 1, 4598-1, 4600.
b) A solution of 160 g of the 1-acetoxy-3, 7, 9-trimethyl-decadiene-2, 6 (n25D = 1, 4600), 500 cm3 ¯thanol, 100 cm3 water and 100 g of potassium hydroxide is 2 hours at 60 C stirred. After standing overnight at room temperature, the reaction mixture is diluted to about 1000 cm3 with water and extracted three times with anhydrous ether. The ether extracts are washed neutral with water and dried over anhydrous calcium sulfate. Fractionation in a vacuum yields d! The 3, 7, 9-trimethyl-decadiene-2,6-o1-1 formed in the form of a colorless oil with a nD = 1.4718 which fades at 75 Po, 08 mm.
This product has a pleasant and very persistent fragrance reminiscent of roses with a fruity note.
The isobutyric acid ester obtainable by reacting the alcohol with isobutyric anhydride in the presence of pyridine boils at 90 ClO, 1 mm, n2D5 =
1, 4570 and has an amble-like rose scent with a fruity note.
