Description
Safety device for an overhead carrier cable Most cable cars, ski lifts, skips and other similar overhead carriers have a carrier or tractor cable supported by pulleys. These generally have a groove intended to prevent cable derailment, but experience shows, however, that such derailments are unfortunately possible.
The present invention specifically relates to a safety device intended to prevent the derailment of cables from air carriers of this type.
This device is characterized by the fact that it has, near at least one of these pulleys, two cable guide members, each able to occupy an active position and a retracted position,
and by the fact that means connect these members so that one of them always remains in the active position while the other moves aside to allow the passage of the suspension device of the transporter.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the object of the present invention.
Fig. 1 is an elevational view thereof and FIG. 2 an end view.
In the drawing, 1 shows the upper part of a metal pylon partially shown and carrying a first support 2 on which is pivoted the axis 3 of a pulley 4 as well as a second support 5 on which is fixed a plate 6 carrying a security device. 7 is a towing and carrying cable on which is mounted the hook of a not shown cabin.
The safety device has two levers 8 and 9 pivoted at 10 and 11 on the plate 6 and interconnected by a rod 12 articulated at 13 and 14 on these levers.
These each ended with a fork whose two branches 15 and 16 are intended to guide the cable laterally and whose bottom is provided with a roller 17 having a groove for the cable and intended to hold the latter. in height. Of course, both the fork and the roller only intervene when this cable is deflected.
When the hook advances towards the pulley, according to the arrow F, the cable is secured by the lever S; the hook comes up against this lever and to pass, pushes it to the erased position as shown in phantom. At the same time, the rod 12 drives the second lever 9 which is lowered into the active position (phantom lines) so as to ensure the guiding of the cable.
Of course, when the hook comes up against the second. lever, after passing over the louse, the whole system returns to its original position, shown in lines. full.
This safety device has the advantage of a simple and robust construction and of an easy and particularly safe operation. Of course, the movement of the two levers is coordinated so that the cable is constantly guided by one or the other dies forks thereby ensuring complete safety.
