The present invention relates to a piece conveying installation. The invention is particularly applicable to the conveying of parts for motor vehicles. A known piece conveying installation comprises a piece guide rail extending between a piece loading station and an unloading station of these parts, each of the parts being suspended from a carriage slidable along the rail, this rail being inclined so that the carriage can slide on the rail by gravity between the loading station and the unloading station. An installation of this type has been described for example in the patent G B 331386. In this installation, the upward movement of the carriages towards the loading station is provided by a power train. This traction chain complicates the conveyor installation and makes it expensive to manufacture. In other conveyor installations of this type, the lift in the opposite direction of the carriages to the loading station is performed manually by an operator. In this case, this operator will strike the cost of labor. The object of the present invention is to overcome the above disadvantages. This object is achieved, according to the invention, by means of a piece conveying installation comprising a piece guide rail extending between a piece loading station and an unloading station for these parts, each part being suspended at a carriage slidable along the rail, said rail being inclined so that the carriage can slide on the rail by gravity between the loading station and the unloading station, characterized in that said rail comprises a first part and a second part of which the two opposite ends are each connected by a curved part to form a closed loop, the first part having a downward slope between the loading station and the unloading station and the second part having a downward slope between the unloading station and the station loading to allow the sliding of the carriages, by gravity, to the loading station. Thus, the carriage can be moved by gravity in both directions, that is to say between the loading station and the unloading station and between the unloading station and the loading station. Only relatively short movements of the carriages on the curved parts that connect the opposite ends of the first and second rail parts must be provided for example by operators or robots. In one embodiment, the first portion and the second portion of the rail 10 are located in two parallel vertical planes. In a preferred embodiment, each of said curved portions is substantially circular and is located in a plane inclined with respect to a horizontal plane. Also preferably, the end of the first portion of the rail located near the unloading station is located at a level below that of the adjacent end of the second rail portion. Similarly, the end of the first part of the rail located near the loading station is located at a level higher than that of the adjacent end of the second part of the rail. The parts can be hooked manually to the carriages by an operator located in the loading station. However, the installation preferably comprises a robot located in the unloading station comprising means for unhooking the parts suspended from the carriages at their arrival in the unloading station and for moving the trolleys by sliding on the part. curve connecting the first part and the second part of the rail. The carriages can then slide by gravity on the second part of the rail to the loading station. The installation according to the invention may comprise two rails arranged one beside the other, preferably symmetrically on either side of a vertical plane. These two rails can convey to the unloading station a larger number of parts per unit of time.
In this embodiment, the two rails can be fixed under two crosspieces each carried by a vertical pole located in a plane passing between the two rails. According to another aspect, the invention also relates to the application of the aforementioned installation to the conveying of parts for motor vehicles. Other features and advantages of the invention will become apparent throughout the description below. In the accompanying drawings, given by way of nonlimiting example: FIG. 1 is a side elevational view of a piece conveying installation, according to the invention; FIG. 2 is a plan view of the Figure 3 is a front view of the installation shown in Figures 1 and 2, Figure 4 is a side view of a carriage of the plant. Figures 1 to 3 show a parts conveying system 1 comprising a guide rail 2 of the parts 1 extending between a loading station 3 of the parts 1 and a station 4 of unloading of these parts. Each of the parts 1 is suspended from a carriage 5 slidable along the rail 2, this rail 2 being inclined so that the carriage 5 can slide by gravity between the loading station 3 and the unloading station 4. According to the invention , the rail 2 comprises a first portion 2a and a second portion 2b whose two opposite ends are each connected by a curved portion 6, 7 to form a closed loop, as shown in Figure 2. The first portion 2a has a downward slope between the loading station 3 and the unloading station 4. The second part 2b of the rail 2 has a descending slope between the unloading station 4 and the loading station 3 to allow the sliding of the carriages 5 by gravity, to the station of loading 3. The first part 2a and the second part 2b of the rail 2 are located in two parallel vertical planes, as shown in FIGS. 2 and 3.
Moreover, each of the curved portions 6, 7 of the rail 2 is substantially circular and is situated in a plane inclined with respect to a horizontal plane, as shown in FIG. 3. As a result, as seen in FIG. the end of the first portion 2a of the rail 2 located near the unloading station 4 is located at a level lower than that of the adjacent end of the second portion 2b of the rail 2. Similarly, the end of the first part 2a of the rail 2 located near the loading station 3 is located at a level higher than that of the adjacent end of the second portion 2b of the rail 2.
This robot comprises means such as a gripping arm to unhook the parts 1 suspended from the carriages 5 at the arrival of these in the unloading station 4 and to move the carriages 5 without parts 1 by sliding on the curved portion 6 connecting the first portion 2a and the second portion 2b of the rail 2. Figure 4 is an enlarged view of a carriage 5 mounted on the rail 2. This carriage 5 comprises two rollers 8 that can roll on the rail 2. The carriage 5 further comprises an arm 9 extending downwards, the end has a hook 10 for hanging a part 1 (not shown in Figure 4). In the example shown (see Figures 2 and 3), the installation comprises two rails 2 and 20 arranged next to each other, symmetrically on either side of a vertical plane P.
In this example, the two rails 2, 20 are fixed under two crosspieces 21 each carried by a vertical pole 22 located in a plane passing between the two rails 2, 20, that is to say located in the plane of symmetry P , which allows a balanced distribution of suspended loads rails 2 and 20. We will now explain the operation of the installation that has just described. An operator 23 present at the loading station 3 successively suspends parts 1 to the carriages 5 arriving on the curved portion 7 of the rail 2.
The carriages 5 carrying the parts 1 then slide by gravity on the downward slope of the part 2a of the rail 2 to the unloading station 4. A robot, not shown, present at the unloading station 4 successively unhooks the parts 1 of the carriages 5 and pushes the carriages 5 empty, that is to say without parts 1 on the curved portion 6 which connects the portion 2a to the portion 2b of the rail 2. The empty carriages 5 then return to the loading station 3 by sliding by gravity on the part 2b of the rail to be able to be loaded again parts 1 to be conveyed to the unloading station 4.
The displacement of the parts 1 on the second rail 20 is identical to that described above. The above installation preferably applies to the conveying of parts for motor vehicles, but can of course be applied to other applications.
