Method for thawing plastic pipelines The invention relates to a method for thawing plastic pipelines.
The thawing of plastic water pipes presents difficulties, since such pipes cannot be thawed by means of electrical resistance heating because of their electrical insulating properties and, on the other hand, the use of blowtorches and the like is not worthwhile because of the low heat resistance of these pipes.
The present invention aims to create a method for thawing plastic pipes. It is characterized in that in the interior of the pipeline between two metallic pipeline parts, a conductor made of electrically conductive mate rial is inserted, which is connected to a power source, the current passed through and the dimensions of the conductor are coordinated in such a way that the Resistance heating of the conductor does not exceed the permanent heat resistance of the plastic.
In the drawing, an embodiment of a plastic pipe, especially for what water, as used for the inventive method, is shown.
The pipeline 1 consists of a thermoplastic plastic and is connected at both ends by coupling parts with metallic pipeline parts 2, 3. Inside the. Kunststoffroh res 1 is a bare metal wire 4 made of as corrosion-resistant as possible. Material. This wire is bent at right angles at both ends of the plastic pipe and protrudes into a radial bore 6 made in the screw-in part 5. On the front side of this screw-in part 5 there is another bore in which a clamping screw 7 is inserted, with which the metal wire can be clamped.
For the purpose of. The bore 6 is provided with a sealed screw plug for perfect sealing. The coupling parts are made of metal - for example brass - and are of a known construction, each with a union nut 8 and an insert sleeve 9, the A screw part has a threaded attachment 10, wel cher with the threaded connection piece of the metallic pipe's 2, respectively . 3 is connected. Of course, other pipe connection constructions could also be used.
Instead of clamping the wire, soldering or welding would also be possible. It would also be conceivable to choose a strip-shaped conductor attached inside the tube instead of a wire. With this construction described, the possibility is created to be able to thaw plastic pipelines by resistance heating.
For this purpose, the metallic pipe line parts, between which the pipe part made of insulating plastic material is located, connected to a power source. As a result of the resistance heating up of the conductor located inside the plastic tube, thawing takes place. The voltage of the current passed through the conductor and the conductor resistance are. coordinated so that the resistance heating of the conductor does not exceed the permanent heat resistance of the plastic.
Such pipelines from electrically isolate the plastic with the conductor inserted inside can also serve to ground electrical instal lations.
