Mixing valve for hot and cold water systems The invention relates to a mixing valve for hot and cold water systems of the type which is described in the main patent and which has a hollow cylinder whose inner space is in communication with the mixing chamber and which is in a two-part space is mounted axially displaceable in the housing of the mixing valve and is guided through a partition wall mounted therein between the cold and the warm supply, the front edges of the cylinder are set up with and each </ B in the housing > to interact with valve seats lying opposite the cylinder end faces,
which, in conjunction with the end edges, delimit annular feed openings, the size of which is a function of the ratio of the cross section of the inlet channel to the cross section of the outlet opening of the outlet channel determined by the position of the bimetallic organ.
Mixing valves of the type mentioned above have the disadvantage that the temperature of the mixed water changes with fluctuations in the amount of water drawn off. For example, if a smaller amount of mixed water is desired, and z.
B. throttled the outlet valve for the shower, the pressure drop, which is normally present in the supply openings between the valve cylinder and its valve seats, in the aforementioned outlet valve, whereby the pressure in the mixing chamber of the mixing valve increases, causing a displacement of the valve cylinder causes the passage for cold water to open more, which changes the mixing ratio and decreases the temperature of the mixed water.
The present invention aims to provide a mixing valve of the type mentioned above, in which the aforementioned disadvantage is avoided. The mixing valve according to the invention is characterized in that one of the valve seats consists of a spring-loaded membrane which has a central opening which leads to an otherwise closed space, the membrane being spring-loaded in the direction towards the valve cylinder is.
This ensures that the membrane moves towards the valve cylinder and thus shuts off the cold water more when the pressure of the tempered water rises, while the pressure of the cold water is kept constant, and vice versa, the membrane moves away from the valve cylinder move away and thus open the passage for cold water more when this pressure rises while the pressure of the tempered water is kept constant.
In a preferred embodiment of the mixing valve according to the invention, the central opening of the membrane is reinforced along the edge by a rigid bushing which is formed with a contact surface for a spring that loads the membrane in the direction mentioned, whereby a safe guide tion of the Spring is achieved.
In another embodiment of the mixing valve according to the invention, the membrane is held along its bent circumference in the two-part space with the help of an elastic shell, which shell is designed in such a way that it also secures the position of the Mernbran circumference in relation to the valve cylinder, making it easy A seal along the circumference of the membrane is achieved in that at the same time the position of the circumference of the membrane is secured against displacement in the axial direction, in particular away from the valve cylinder.
The invention is described in more detail below, for example using the drawing. It shows: FIG. 1 an embodiment of a mixing valve according to the invention, in view and partially in section, FIG. 2 the same in section along the line 11-II in FIG. 1, </ B> Fig. 3 the same in section along the line III-III in Fig. 1 and Fig. 4 a part of Fig. 2 on a larger scale.
The drawing shows a mixing valve which consists of a housing 1, which has a mixing chamber 2 and an inlet opening 3 for connecting the valve to a cold water line, a second inlet opening 4 for the connection of a hot water pipe and an outlet opening 5 for the connection to a pipe that leads to the point of consumption for the temperature-controlled mixed water. Between the inlet opening 3 and the mixing chamber 2, a pressure chamber 6 is switched on, which is fed through an inlet channel 7 with an exchangeable throttle nozzle 8 with the inlet opening 3 and through an outlet channel 9,
In whose outflow opening a thermostat-controlled control valve 10 is switched on, with which the mixing chamber 2 is connected. The control valve 10 is controlled by a bimetallic control element 11 accommodated in the mixing chamber 2, which consists of a leaf spring 12, one end of which is in the housing 1 </ B> is fixed, and the other end of which is provided with a locking plate 13 ,
which interacts with the outflow opening of the outlet channel 9 to regulate the outflow from the pressure chamber 6 in accordance with the temperature of the mixed water.
The bimetallic control element 11 is constructed in such a way that an increase in the temperature of the mixed water causes a movement of the closure plate 13 away from the outflow opening, while a decrease in the temperature mentioned causes the closing plate 11 blocks the air outlet more.
The pressure chamber 6 is closed after the mixing chamber with a flexible membrane 14 which controls a spring-influenced valve which is connected between the inlet openings 3, 4 and the mixing chamber 2 and consists of a hollow valve cylinder 15 which is guided in a sealing ring 16 , and the interior of which is in direct connection with the mixing chamber 2, and which can be moved in its axial direction in a two-part space 17, 18 formed in the housing 1 , the partition wall of which is formed by the sealing ring 16 , which is attached to the outer surface of the valve cylinder 15 is liquid-tight.
The front edges of the cylinder 15 are designed to interact with valve seats 19, 20 which are accommodated in the housing 1 and which are in connection with the forehead - Limit the edge of the cylinder annular feed openings, the size of which changes when the valve cylinder 15 is moved.
One valve seat 19 is formed by a spring-loaded membrane 21 (FIG. 4), which is held in place by a metal shell 22 in the barely 17 , and which has a central opening 23 </ B> which can be lined with a bush 24 which guides a spring 25 which is inserted between the bush 24 and the shell 22. The central opening 23 leads to an otherwise closed space 26 which is delimited by the shell 22, and the membrane 21 is in the direction against the valve cylinder 15 < / B> held taut by the spring 25 .
The position of the membrane 21 in relation to the solid end base of the shell is not only dependent on the pressure of the spring 25 against the inside of the membrane facing the space 26, but also from the inside of the membrane Pressure difference between the cold and the tempered water depends, so that the membrane moves towards the valve cylinder 15 and thus shuts off the cold water more when the pressure of the tempered water increases, while the pressure of the cold water Water is kept constant, and vice versa, the membrane will move away from the Ventilkör by 15 and so open the passage of the cold water more when the pressure of the same increases, while the pressure of the tempered water is kept constant becomes.
The membrane 14 is connected to the valve cylinder 15 with the aid of a plunger 27 , which is provided with a compression spring 28 attached inside the cylinder which counteracts the pressure of the diaphragm 14 and which is fastened at one end inside the cylinder and at the other end rests against the valve housing, near the feed opening which leads to the cold feed. When the water pressure in the pressure chamber 6 increases, e.g.
B. because the control element 11 closes the control valve 10 more when the temperature of the mixed water decreases with the aid of the closure plate 13 , or when the If the water pressure in the cold feed rises for any reason, the membrane 14 will move the valve cylinder 15 against the action of the spring 28, i.e. to the right in the drawing in FIG . 2 and 3, so that the cross section of the supply opening for the cold water is reduced and the cross section of the supply opening for the warm water is enlarged,
whereby the falling temperature of the mixed water or the increased water pressure of the cold water is counteracted by adding a smaller amount of cold and a larger amount of warm water. In the embodiment of the mixing valve shown in the drawing, the leaf spring 12 of the bimetallic control element 11 has a point 29 which is located on a rotatable eccentric disc 30 </ B > which is applied by hand by means of a handle 31 to move the point 29 and thus the closure plate 13 in the direction towards the outflow opening of the outlet channel 9 or away from the same, whereby the control valve 10 can be adjusted.
The sealing ring 16 inserted in the annular groove 32 in the housing 1 is elastic, e.g. B. made of rubber, in such a way that its cross section has the shape of a truncated cone, as shown in FIG. 2 and 3 , the base of the cone in the groove 32 sits while its blunt tip rests against the outer surface of the valve cylinder 15 .
The truncated tip of the cone can be seen with an inwardly protruding annular lip which has a smaller dimension in the axial direction than the remaining part of the sealing ring 16. The valve seat 20 at its end is preferably made of a metal plate whose surface facing the valve cylinder 15 is provided with a vulcanized rubber layer.
The cross section of the throttle nozzle 8 is preferably smaller than the cross section of the outflow opening of the outlet channel 9 in order to prevent water pressure from developing in the pressure chamber, even if the outflow opening of the outlet channel 9 is completely released from the closure plate 13 .
In the inlet openings 3 and 4 for the cold and warm water, respectively, check valves can be fitted at the entry to the two-part space 17 and 18 , which prevent that due to differences in the water pressures that have arisen, water is pressed from one supply line into the other supply line, and the each cover an entry to the two-part space 17, 18 .
The mode of operation of the mixing valve is as follows: When tapping mixed water, the bimetallic control element 11 becomes the closure plate 13 in the position of the handle 31 and the eccentric disk 30 keep a corresponding distance from the outflow opening of the pressure chamber 6 , and the resulting pressure in the pressure chamber will cause the membrane 14 to close the valve cylinder B> 15 moves into such a position in relation to its end-positioned valve seats 17 and 18 ,
that a suitable amount of cold and warm water is mixed to achieve the temperature of the mixed water determined by the position of the handle. If the user wants a smaller amount of mixed water and throttles, for example, a control valve (not shown) attached in series with a shower, the pressure in the mixing chamber 2 will rise, causing the membrane 14 and thus the valve cylinder 15 to move be moved to the left in Fig. 2 and 3 , so that the inlet opening on the right in the figures mentioned for the cold water is larger, which would cause the mixed water to have a lower temperature,
This, however, is counteracted by the above-mentioned movement of the membrane 21 on the valve cylinder 15 , so that the inlet opening for the cold water is kept constant or even reduced, despite the changed pressure in the mixing chamber, to compensate for the fact that the inlet opening for the warm water has been reduced by the movement of the valve cylinder 15 to the left of the drawing.
It will be clear to a person skilled in the art that a complete compensation of the temperature changes of the mixed water can be achieved with widely differing amounts of the same by a suitable choice of the cross sections of the mine which are exposed to the pressure of the cold or the tempered water. If a particularly large compensation area is desired, the pressure of the spring 25 against the membrane can be made adjustable.
