Sanitary assembly forming a shower and bathtub The present invention relates to a sanitary assembly forming a shower and bathtub, characterized in that it comprises a bathtub, the outer upper edge of which bears a rim raised over part of its length from a wall against which the bathtub is placed, a support being placed against this wall above this raised edge, a panel being articulated on this support according to a vertical pivot axis to allow the panel to be placed in two extreme positions,
one in which it is pressed against the wall and releases the bathtub, and the other in which it leans against the raised edge and forms with the bathtub a shower room.
The appended drawing represents, schematically and by way of example, an embodiment of this sanitary assembly.
Fig. 1 is a perspective view.
Fig. 2 is a sectional view of a detail, and FIG. 3, a view similar to the previous one of a variant of this detail.
The sanitary assembly shown in FIG. 1 com takes a bathtub 1 of the type built into the walls 2 and 3 forming one of the corners of the bathroom. The outer upper edge 4 of this bathtub 1 carries a raised rim 5 over part of its length from the wall 2 against which the bathtub 1 is placed.
A support 6 is placed against this wall 2 above this rim 5. This support 6 is formed by an angle iron, for example in polished aluminum or in nickel-plated or chromed brass. To allow this angle bar 6 to be placed inside the angle formed by the raised edge 5 of the bathtub 1, the lower part of this angle iron has a part 7 fitted against it, so that the outer wing 8 of the angle iron 6 is located substantially in the upward projection of the raised edge 5.
Spacers 9, formed by metal plates, are fixed transversely in the ends of the angle iron 6, respectively in the part 7 which extends the angle 6 downwards. These spacers 9 have at least one hole 10 intended to serve as a bearing for a pivot pin. Indeed, this bracket 6 forming a support is intended to receive the pivot axis of a panel 11 which can be constituted by a mirror, a plastic panel, a lacquered wood panel, or the like.
In the example shown, the panel 11 is assumed to be made of glass, and its two adjacent angles to the angle iron 6 are provided with metal plates 12 between which they are clamped by means of screws and nuts 13. These metal plates 12 carry journals 14 intended to be engaged in the holes 10 of the spacers 9 with the interposition of a stop washer 15.
Due to its articulation via the journals 14 on the angle iron 6, the panel 11 can be placed in two extreme positions: one (represented in FIG. 1 in solid lines) in which it is pressed against the wall 2 of the bathroom and thus clears the bathtub 1 to allow its normal use for the bath; the other (shown in dotted line) in which the panel 11 rests, by its lower part, against the rim 5 and forms with the bathtub and the angle between the walls 2 and 3 of the bathroom a local d e shower.
It has been assumed, in the example shown in FIG. 1, that the bathtub 1 was supplied with water from a battery 16, provided with a shower 17, connected to the water supply by a flexible tube 18. A support 19 of the ball type 20 is attached against the wall 3. In the case of normal use of the bathtub, the shower 17 rests on its usual support forming part of the battery 16.
In the case of use as a shower, the handle of the shower 17 is engaged in the support 19, and the ball joint 20 enables the shower 17 to be oriented in the desired direction.
Due to the fact that, in the shower position, the panel 11 comes to rest against the rim 5, any splash of water against the internal wall of the panel 11 flows directly into the bathtub 1 following the rim 5 and the edge upper 4 of the tub.
So that the mounting of this orientable panel 11 above the bathtub 1 is done without creating any discomfort for the user of this sanitary unit, it is advantageous that the upper edge 4 of the bathtub 1 is of greater width than the upper edge of bathtubs of usual construction. Preferably, the width of this edge 4 should reach about 12 cm. This upper edge 4 of greater width could extend either only over the length of the raised edge 5, or over the entire length of the tub 1.
However, any bathtub of the usual recessed type could be provided with such an orientable panel 11. In fact, it would suffice, in this case, to bring up against the upper edge 4 of a bathtub. ordinary an angle element 21, as shown in FIG. 3. This angle element 21 is mounted against the edge 4 with the interposition of a seal 22 which may be constituted by a rubber or plastic seal, for example.
Preferably, this angle element 21 is integral with the angle iron 6 forming the support for the pivot axis of the panel 11. These two angles 6 and 21 may even constitute one and the same part.
However, when these parts 6 and 21 must be built in series to allow their use either on the left side or the right side of a bathtub, depending on the position occupied by the latter in the bathroom, it is preferable that the angle 6 is independent of the horn element 21, which facilitates their mounting on the left or on the right on the bathtub.
Of course, in the case of the embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, bathtubs can be formed either with a raised edge 5 to the left or to the right, depending on the position they are to occupy in the bathroom.
In addition, for standard parts intended to be applied to different assemblies, the spacers 9 of the angle iron 6 could have two holes 10 to allow the mounting of the orientable panel 11 in two different positions with respect to the angle iron 6, this depending on whether the angle iron 6 is fixed against the wall 2 by its wing 8a (which is the case in FIG. 1), or by its wing 8, in the case where the axis of articulation of the panel 11, instead of '' be mounted above the left edge of the tub,
would be mounted above its right edge.
