Device on automobiles with a gear arranged in the rear part for shifting the gears The subject of the invention is a device on automobiles with a gear arranged in the rear part for shifting the gears, which is provided with a shift lever attached to the steering column and a single longitudinal shift rod which the switching on and off of the individual gears by twisting and axial movement of the rod accomplished.
The device according to the invention should have the advantage over the previously known switching devices of a similar type of easier controllability, a more complex design and smaller installation space. This should be made possible by inserting a two-armed lever into the switching mechanism between the longitudinal support rod and the switching lever, which is pivotably mounted on a pivotable support.
An embodiment of the invention is illustrated schematically in the accompanying drawing in a perspective view.
Below the steering wheel 1, the Schalthe bel 2 is mounted by means of a joint ball 3 in the spherical bearing 17 on the steering column 16 and articulated to one end of the rocker 4, the other end of which is articulated to one end of the two-armed lever 6. The rocker 4 is rotatable by means of a pin 21 and slidably mounted ver in the bearing 22, which is firmly attached to the construction of the vehicle. The spring 5 is placed on the pin 21 and is supported with one end on the bearing 22 and with the other end on the washer 18 attached to the pin 21.
The two-armed lever 6 is articulated at its end to the arm 8 of the longitudinal shift rod 10 and at its support point articulated to the end of the pivotable support 7, the pin 19 of which is rotatably mounted in the fixed bearing of the structure.
The longitudinal shift rod 10 is articulated at the connection end of the lever 6 with the end of the pivotable guide part 9, the pin 20 is rotatably mounted in the fixed bearing of the structure, and at the other end provided with the shift finger 11 rotatable and axially displaceable in fixed Bearings 12 of the gear box stored. The shift finger 11 alternately engages in the cutouts of the shift rods 13, 14, 15, shifts them in the axial direction as required and thus switches the individual gears of the vehicle on and off.
The device works in such a way that the movements of the shift lever 2 approximately in the direction of the axis of the steering handwheel 1 only twist the longitudinal shift rod 10 and thus the adjustment of the shift finger 11 with respect to any of the shift rods 13, 14, 15, with the rocker 4 only performs an axial movement in the bearing 22 and this movement is expressed on the two-arm lever 6 so that
that its support point and its end connected to the arm 8 both perform a pivoting movement up and down. The movements of the shift lever 2 in the plane approximately parallel to the steering handwheel 1 then only lead to an axial displacement of the longitudinal shift rod 10 and thus the actual switching on or off of individual gears of the vehicle.
The rocker 4 only performs a pivoting movement about the axis of the bearing 22 and this movement is expressed on the two-armed lever 6 in its pivoting about its support point 7 connected to the end of the support 7, so that the end of the lever connected to the arm 8 has a Pivoting movement in the direction of the axis of the Längsschaltstange 10 Rich.
The gears are changed by alternately moving the shift lever 2 in both directions. The positions of the shift lever 2 when moving in the direction of the axis of the steering handwheel are determined as follows:
For the actual engagement of the third and fourth gear, it is necessary to use the handle of the shift lever 2 in the extreme position in the direction of the steering handwheel 1. For the engagement of the first and second gear, the handle of the. Shift lever is brought into the middle position, the spring 5 on the bearing 22 and on the washer 18 comes to rest.
To switch on the reverse gear, it is necessary to overcome the resistance of the spring 5 and to push the shift lever 2 into the extreme position in the direction of the steering wheel 1 away. The spring 5 also serves to ensure that the reverse gear is engaged.
