EMI0001.0008
worin R eine CH.- oder CH.,O-Gruppe bedeutet, mit 1-(2',3'-Oxy-naphthoyl-amino)-2-methyl-bzw. -2-meth- oxy-benzol in Substanz kuppelt.
Man lässt anschlie- ssend 30 Minuten weiterrühren,
Process for the preparation of water-insoluble azo dyes It has been found that valuable water-insoluble azo dyes are obtained if diazotized amines of the formula:
EMI0001.0008
wherein R is a CH. or CH., O group, with 1- (2 ', 3'-oxy-naphthoyl-amino) -2-methyl- or. -2-methoxy-benzene in substance couples.
The new bases used can be obtained by adding 1-methyl-2-nitro-benzene-4-sulfochloride with the alkali metal salts of methyl 4-oxy-benzoate or 4-oxy-acetophenone corresponding sulfonic acid esters are converted and the nitro compounds obtained are reduced in a known manner.
The starting components are preferably coupled in a Congo acid medium; in this case, small amounts of a surface-active substance are advantageously added to the finely divided suspension of the coupling component. The dye formation can be accelerated by adding salts of organic acids, in particular special sodium acetate.
The dyes obtainable in this way are yellowish red pigments in the dry state, which are practically insoluble in alcohol, oil, benzene and the solvents commonly used for paints and have very good lightfastness. They are therefore particularly suitable for use in graphic printing and wallpaper printing and for coloring oil, nitro and synthetic resin paints. The new dyes can also be used for pigment printing and for dyeing spinning solutions.
Example 1 300 g of 1- (2 ', 3'-oxy-naphthoyl-amino) -2-methoxy-benzene are dissolved in 2500 ml of water and 420 ml of 15% sodium hydroxide solution by heating to 70 to 80 C solved. The solution is filtered.
An aqueous solution of 14 g of a sodium alkyl (Cls C ") sulfonate is added, the mixture is cooled to 0-3 ° C. by adding ice, and the naphthol is precipitated by rapidly flowing in 220 ml of 30% strength hydrochloric acid. The resulting broth must react sourly from the Congo.
321 g of 1-amino-2-methyl-benzene-5-sulfonic acid (4'-carbomethoxyphenyl) ester are stirred with a mixture of 1400 ml of water and 480 ml of 30% strength hydrochloric acid. The temperature of the slurry should be 5-10 ° C.
A solution of 73 g of sodium nitrite in 250 ml of water is rapidly poured in while stirring. The diazotization is complete after about 1 hour. After adding some activated charcoal, the solution is filtered and the excess nitrite is eliminated by adding an aqueous solution of aminosulfonic acid.
The diazo solution obtained is stirred with the suspension of the coupling component and the mixture is slowly heated to about 40.degree. The coupling is complete after 3-4 hours. The dye is filtered off with suction, washed free of acid and dried. It is a bright yellow-tinged red powder with good solvent fastness.
Example 2 305 g of 1-amino-2-methyl-benzene-5-sulfonic acid (4'-acetylphenyl) ester are added to 1000 ml of glacial acetic acid and 420 ml of 30% salt by gentle heating - acid dissolved.
It is cooled to about 15 ° C. by throwing in ice and diazotized with a solution of 73 g of sodium nitrite in 250 ml of water. The diazo solution clarified by filtration is added to the arylamide suspension prepared according to Example 1; 1000 ml of a 30% strength sodium acetate solution are allowed to flow rapidly into the mixture, heating to 40 ° C. at the same time. The coupling ends after about 1 hour.
After vacuuming and drying, a dye pigment is obtained which has a similar hue and the same fastness properties as the dye obtained according to Example 1.
Example 3 298.5 g of 1- (2 ', 3'-oxy-naphthoylamino) -2-methylbenzene are dissolved in 4000 ml of water and 165 ml of 50% sodium hydroxide solution by heating to approximately 80.degree solved. After adding a little activated charcoal, the solution is filtered and cooled to room temperature with stirring.
An aqueous solution of 14 g of a sodium alkyl sulfonate or the same amount of olymanethyl tauride is added to this solution and the mixture is cooled to about 1 ° C. by adding crushed ice. The naphthalene derivative is precipitated again by collapsing 280 ml of glacial acetic acid with vigorous stirring.
After stirring for 1 hour, the suspension obtained is mixed with a diazo solution which was prepared as follows: 321 g of 1-amino-2-methyl-benzene-5-sulfonic acid (4'-carbomethoxy) phenyl ester are added in small portions at 20- 25 ° C. with stirring in a mixture of 1000 ml of glacial acetic acid, 250 ml of water and 420 ml of 30% hydrochloric acid. The mixture is then left to stir for 30 minutes,
cools to about 5 C by throwing in crushed ice and diazo- tates by quickly pouring 240 ml of 30% nitrite solution, whereby the temperature should not exceed 15 C and a constant excess of nitrite should be present. The diazo solution is filtered after adding a little activated charcoal.
In the clarified solution, the excess nitrite is removed by adding an aqueous solution of aminosulfonic acid.
The coupling mixture is gradually heated to 40.degree. The coupling is over after about 1 hour. The dye is filtered off with suction, washed salt-free and dried. A bright red pigment is obtained which, in the full oil shade and in the zinc white blend, has a slightly more bluish tinge than the pigment obtained according to Example 1. It has good fastness to solvents and good fastness to light.
