3. L'arbre d'entrée15 présente un pignon18 monté au voisi nage du palier19, qui,à son tour, est monté dans la paroi 12, comme représenté.
L'extrémité opposée 20de rarbre, d'entrée15 est tourillonnée dans le palier 21 qui est montéà son tour dans la paroi13 en alignement avec le palier19. Uarbre d'entrée15 est relié par l'intermédiaire du pignon18 à une-roue dentée 22 qui est montée pour tourner sur un arbre de commande23 qui est parallèleà l'arbre d'entrée 15 et espacé de cet arbre, tourillonné;
Device for transforming a continuous rotational movement into an intermittent movement In many cases of automation, it is necessary or advantageous to carry out a succession of high speed operations . In general, some operations have time-determined relationships to other operations, and succession must be maintained regardless of operating speed or speed, of manufacturing. Other operations may require independent adjustment for each time or motion, and the total adjustment of such a machine can become very complex.
This is particularly true when using, a direct drive, by cam with a shaft, to continuously rotating cam which is driven simultaneously to </ B > a motor shaft. Changing a cam must necessarily increase or decrease the action period of another cam at the same rotational speed. Changing speed to allow a particular operating period then modifies a previously described period for other operations.
In the case of electrically operated controls, the cycles and periods of operation can be more easily set, but there is often a difficulty in operating at high speed, when the mechanical parts must all depend. (independent operation by the intermediary of an independent control. When mechanical parts are thus controlled independently , the adjustment mechanism command does not necessarily have a direct relationship with time or movement, since the inertia of the mechanically controlled parts thus independently controlled must be taken into account.
Furthermore, in transmission devices of the type requiring the taking intermittently direct power at from a shaft at constant speed , a full load is often applied instantaneously and the necessary torque cannot be supplied at the initial stage of the intermittent period. The torque required can decrease immediately after, to only a fraction of that required at start-up.
The present invention, which tends to remedy to these drawbacks, relates to a device for transforming a continuous rotational movement into an intermittent movement. This device is characterized by a control shaft intended to be driven in rotation by a motor with continuous rotation, an output shaft, a first electric & clutch and brake assembly comprising a clutch part and a braking part capable of being alternately coupled with a de output,
a with crank mechanism connecting the control shaft to the clutch part of said assembly, and a first electrical switch associated with said first assembly, and controlled as a function of the rotation of of control part to control in in turn the duration of excitation of the & clutch part, respectively of the braking part of this assembly in each cycle of operation.
The drawing represents, by by way of example, an embodiment of the device according to the invention. Au des sin .
fig. 1 is a vertical section of the device, following line M in fig. 2, some parts of the positive device being shown in solid lines, and others being cut out to better show the working relationship of the parts ; FIG 2 is a side view, of the device seen from the side of right, of fig. 1, and fig. 3 is a schematic representation of the active parts of the device, together with an electrical wiring diagram showing the operation of the device and the setting of times in an industrial operation, during each cycle .
The movement transformation device 10 has a frame or support structure 11 comprising side walls 12 and 13 as well as a structure. ture, transverse reinforcement 14. An input shaft 15 is journaled; through through the side pareis #, 12 and 13, and has an external extension 16 with slot 17 to be coupled in rotation by a motor M as shown in FIG. 3. The input shaft 15 has a pinion 18 mounted in the vicinity of the bearing 19, which , à in turn, is mounted in the wall 12, as shown.
The opposite end 20 of rarbre, entry 15 is journaled in the bearing 21 which is mounted to in turn in the wall 13 in alignment with the bearing 19. The input shaft 15 is connected via the pinion 18 to a - toothed wheel 22 which is mounted to rotate on a drive shaft 23 which is parallel to the input shaft 15 and spaced from this tree, journaled;
in the bearings 24 of the wall 12 and 25 of the wall 13. The control shaft could be driven by the motor M without the intervention of the 'tree 15, that is, be itself the input tree of the device.
The control shaft 23 is provided with an external extension 26, having a smaller diameter, to which is rigidly fixed a series of wheels to cam 27, 28, 29 and 30, these wheels to cam, being separated from each other by washers 31, and the assembly being held rigidly on the shaft 23 by a nut 32 screwed on the external extension < B> 26, of smaller diameter, of the shaft 23, as shown in fig. 1. The other end of Parbre 23 is rigidly attached to a 33 crank arm which is located just beyond of the wall 13 of the support structure 11, as shown in figs. 1 and 2.
The toothed wheel 22 has an internal bore 34 which surrounds the shaft 23 and it rotates around the the latter by roller bearings < B> 35 and 36 respectively. The toothed wheel 22 is crossed by screws 37 from left to right, observing FIG. 1,
to couple this rotating wheel 22 with an electric & clutch and brake assembly generally designated as 38. This clutch and brake assembly includes an electric collector device 39 which receives an electric current from from the terminal brushes 40 and 40a which are held at in turn in a fixed position on a brush holder 41 fixed to the structure of frame 11. The clutch and braking assembly also has an electromagnetic clutch & part 42 which is fixed to the wheel 22, part which has a clutch face 43 as shown in FIG. 1. The clutch,
electromagnetic 42 has an annular clearance concentrically to the shaft 23, as shown in fig. 1. The shaft 23 is attached to a core 44 which supports an elastic clutch disk 45 which can be magnetically attracted and which is normally in low sliding contact with the clutch face 43. A notice 46 is screwed into the core 44 and has an extension 47 for to fit tightly into a recess 48 formed in the core 44. 'tree 23, as shown.
Thus, when the disc 45 capable of being magnetically attracted: is applied firmly in engagement with the clutch face 43, the shaft 23 is set in rotation at the same time as the toothed wheel 22, and its associated clutch parts.
The clutch and braking assembly 38 also has an electromagnetic braking part 49 which is rigidly mounted on the Wall 13 of the support structure 11, for example by screws 50 as shown in FIG. 1. The electromagnetic brake 49 and its face 51 have a concentric clearance with respect to the shaft 23. </ B > An elastic brake disc 52 attached to the core 44 is normally found in weak sliding contact with the brake face 51. When the magnetic brake 49 is energized through the electric conductors 53 and 53a, the electromagnetic clutch 42 ceases to be energized, which releases the clutch disc 45,
but stops the braking disc 52 instantly which comes into engagement rigidly with the braking face 5 1. Being since screw 47 is locked in recess 48 of power transmission or input shaft 23, rotation of the latter is immediately stopped . As the wheels to cam 27 to 30 are rigidly attached to the shaft 23, and the crank 33 is also attached to the shaft 23, the rotation of these latter elements is also instantly stopped whenever the brake disc 52 engages the braking face 51.
As shown in fig. 2 the crank 33, which is fixed to one end of the shaft 23, has a longitudinal adjustment screw 54 comprising a knurled head < B> 55 which allows it to be rotated. The ends of the adjusting screw 54 are journaled in end plates 56 and 57 of the crank 33, < / B> as shown. A collar 58 is attached to the outer end of the adjustment screw 55 so as to prevent play longitudinal of the screw during operation of the machine or the adjustment of the screw.
The crank 33 has a guide slot 59 parallel to the adjustment screw 54 and in which a block 60 </ B > is arranged to slide as shown in fig. 1 and in fig. 2. The block 60 is provided with a pin or pivot 61 extending outwards, the outer end of which is screwed into a nut 62. A bearing collar 63 is rigidly fixed to the axis or pivot 61 by the nut 62, and this collar is connected by a ball bearing 64 with a 65 rack which has 66 teeth and which is mounted to slide in a guide 67.
The guide 67 is mounted to oscillate on a countershaft 68 which is journalled in bearings 69 and 70 respectively, mounted in the side walls 12 and 13 of the support structure 11, this guide 67 being mounted on an external extension of the 'countershaft 68, and surrounding a pinion 71 which is wedged on this drive shaft 68. The guide 67 keeps the rack 65 meshed with the pinion 71 when the crank 33 turns around of < / B> the axis of the shaft 23, which causes the countershaft to rotate 68 first in one direction, then in the other. The number of turns of the shaft of,
return in each direction naturally depends on the radial adjustment of the block 60 in the crank 33.
A toothed wheel 72 is attached to the deflection shaft 68 and meshes with a toothed wheel 73 fixed to a power take-off shaft 74 journaled in bearings 75 and 76 respectively mounted in the walls 12 and 13 of the support structure 11. The power take-off shaft 74 has an extension 77 to </ B> slot 78 to mate with parts of a machine requiring periodic oscillatory motion. A toothed wheel 79 is also attached to the shaft 74, and meshes with another toothed wheel, 80 which is attached, to a sleeve 81. The latter is mounted to rotate on the 82 shaft which constitutes the output to intermittent movement of the motor.
Free rotation between the sleeve 81 and the output shaft 82 is ensured by the bearings to rollers or to </ B> balls 83 and 84. The sleeve 81 is provided with, screws 85 engaged from right to left in observing fig. 1. An electrical clutch and brake assembly 86 also surrounds the shaft 82 and includes an electromagnetic clutch 87 </ B> as well as an electrical collector device 88 which receives current from terminal brushes 89 and 89a projecting on the brush holder 90. </ B > The latter is kept fixed relative to to the structure of frame 11 by a bracket 91 fixed by screws or bolts to the
wall 13 of the frame, as shown. The electromagnetic clutch 87 is placed at a distance from the circumference of the shaft 82.
The 82 shaft is journaled at through the walls 12 and 13 of the frame in bearings 92 and 93 respectively. The other end of the output shaft 82 ends, on the outside of the wall 12 by a coupling device < B> to slot 97 which is intended to communicate an intermittent unidirectional movement.
A core 98 is attached to the shaft 82 in the vicinity of the electromagnetic clutch 87 < / B> and supports a 99 elastic clutch disc which can be magnetically attracted, and which is normally in low sliding contact with the 100 clutch face of clutch 87. In the vicinity of the core 98 and at distance from the output shaft 82, a electromagnetic braking part 101 is rigidly mounted on the wall 12 by a screw 102.
The braking part 101 is excited by the conductors 103 and 103a and then attracts the elastic braking disc 104, fixed to the core 98, and press it firmly against the face 105 of the brake element 101. As in the case of the clutch assembly and < B> de de 38, the brake disc as well as the disc & clutch are normally in low friction contact with the braking and brake faces. respective clutch and, during their alternating excitations,
they brake the rotation of the shaft 82 then bring the shaft 82 into engagement with the clutch while simultaneously releasing the brake- A Typical application of the device described is that which is associated with the manufacture of à containers from a sheet or strip of a flexible material, in which the strip is advanced, over a predetermined distance, is stopped, cut, glued and the finished container is removed before advancing the strip again. The determination of the times of the secondary functions of the cycle, becomes important since the time required for cutting and gluing is not at all he to the period of time for the advance of the strip .
Thus, for example, when a container is manufactured by cycle, a linear dimension of the container is regulated by the part of the cycle which is used, to advance the web. The cutting and gluing function is determined by the part of the cycle used to subject the material to the elements in play. When containers with the same surface dimensions, have various material thicknesses, the The part of the cycle where the tape is moved remains the same, but the part of the cycle where the thicker material is cut and glued may require a longer time.
A schematic arrangement of the essential parts of the device described is shown in FIG. 3 as well as an electrical wiring diagram for its operation. A For explanatory purposes, it is assumed that a cycle of the operation of the machine operated by means of the device includes -a complete rotation of the drive shaft 23 starting when the crank arm 33 is in a vertical position in line with the rack 65, the rotation of the shaft 23 being in the direction of the arrow, observing fig. 3. Thus, the position represented is the one existing just after the,
start of a cycle in which crank arm 33 has moved a short distance to from the starting point. Each of the wheels to cam 2.7 to 30 is attached to the shaft 23 and, consequently, turns whenever the, 33 crank arm turns. The wheel with cam 27 has a lower peripheral part, 106 and an upper part 107, these parts coming in contact alternately with the roller of switch control 108 spring peeled rap. The switch 108 is closed when the roller begins to make contact with the peripheral part 107 of large radius.
The wheel, with cam 28 presents, in a similar way, a starting, peripheral of less, radius 109 and -a, part of larger radius 110. The wheel with cam, 28 activates a switch 111 recalled by spring, of so that this switch is closed when it comes into contact with the part with large radius 110 of the cam. Similarly, the wheel with cam 29 has a lower part 112 and an upper part 113, and this wheel actuates a recalled switch 114 by spring. The with cam 30 wheel has a lower peripheral part 115 and an upper part, 116 intended for to actuate the spring-loaded switch 117 in succession.
The wheels to cam 27 and 30 are intended, to operate the brake and clutch assemblies 38 and 86. The wheels to cam 28 and 29 are given to as an example of either of a series of electrically born, action mechanisms which are put into action or which are conditioned to function successively with respect to the single turn of the input shaft 23. As shown, the role of the wheels to cam 28 and 29 is to intervene for a certain, determined operation with respect to one revolution of the shaft 23, while the wheels to cam 27 and 30 control various aspects of the operation of the device as described below.
The operation of the device assumes that the motor M is continuously energized to communicate a continuous rotation to the clutch 42. Current to actuate electromagnets is supplied to the conductors 118 < / B> and 119 from a suitable source, eg alternating current, AC. Assuming switch 108 has not yet closed the circuit from conductor 118 to conductor 120, no excitation occurs. of the control coil 121 of the switch 129, by the conductor 122,
and the neutral return conductor 119. It should be noted that there is a parallel circuit passing through the conductor 123 in which are interposed a switch mechanism 124 and a main switch assembly < B> 125. The main switch 125 is thus connected to a bypass conductor 126 which can be closed by manually lowering a button -pusher 127 spring-loaded. The manual switch 128 can be moved to a constantly open or closed position to switch on or off the automatic operation of the device.
When switch 128 is open, push button 127 can be used to produce a single cycle which is particularly useful for test purposes. . Just before the operation of the device when the crank arm 33 is in the starting position, as mentioned above, the wheel to cam 30 is about to close the switch 117.
To trigger the operation of the device, it is assumed that the switch mechanism 124 is in the closed position, as shown. If it is desired to use only one cycle, the manual switch 128 is left open, as shown. Pushbutton 127 is then pressed so as to momentarily close the circuit 118, 124 123 , 128, 121, 119. The switch 129 which was previously in contact with the contact pad 130 of the driver 53 then moves to the left under the influence of coil 121 and comes into contact with contact pad 131.
There is now a direct current circuit supplied by a DC source and passing through a conductor 132, a conductor 133, </ B> the switch 129 and driver 40, clutch 42, driver 40a, driver 134, and return driver 135 to the source of direct current DC. The energization of the electromagnetic clutch 42 causes the coupling of the motor M to continuous rotation with the core 44 which is fixed to the control shaft 23. The latter causes the rotation of the crank arm 33, < / B> in the counterclockwise direction of fig. 3. Before the excitation of coil 121,
the switch 129 touches the contact pad 130 and it is constructed so to </ B > always return to this last contact each time the coil 121 ceases to be energized. A contact between the switch 129 and the contact pad 130 establishes a flow of direct current in the conductor 132, < / B> the conductor 133, the switch 129, the stud 130, the conductor 53, and in the elec tromagnetic braking element 49.
Current then flows to through conductor 53a, the return conductor 134, and returns to the other conductor 135 of < / B> the source of direct current DC. The electromagnetic clutch 42 is disengaged under these conditions, and the core 44 is magnetically attracted to the braking position relative to the electromagnetic brake 49 which keeps the input shaft 43 fixed. The motor M, of course, continues to operate, whether or not the control shaft 23 is coupled < B> to this engine.
After the start of the rotation of the crank arm 33, the upper peripheral part of the wheel with cam 27 causes the closing switch 108 and thus establish an independent circuit AC, 118, 108, 120, 121, 122, 119. Therefore the switch 129 keeps the electromagnetic clutch 42 in engagement with the core 44, so that little 23 continues to rotate as long as switch 108 is controlled by the upper part 107 of the wheel to cam 27.
All the wheels to cam 27 to 30 being set on the input shaft 33, the wheel to cam 30 also begins to rotate counterclockwise when coupling with motor M is established by electromagnetic clutch 42.
As soon as the crank arm 33 moves away from its neutral position in line with the rack 65, the switch 117 is closed due to the fact that it is subjected to the upper peripheral part 116 of the wheel to cam 30. Closing switch 117 immediately establishes a circuit starting from conductor 118 by stepping through switch 117, < / B> a conductor 136 and a switch mechanism 137, which is normally closed at the start of the cycle, but which can be opened either after the elapse of a period of time previously determined, ie to the end of a to successive action operation, as described below.
An electric current passing through the switch at time 137 then passes through a conductor 138, a coil 139 controlling a switch 141, a return conductor 140 and returns to the neutral conductor 119. The switch 141 which is normally in contact with the contact pad 142 when the coil 139 n 'is not energized, is then actuated to establish contact with the pad 143, as shown in FIG. 3. The electromagnetic clutch 87 is thus energized via the direct current conductor 132 , the switch 141, the contact 143,
and the electromagnetic clutch element 87. The return line goes through the driver 89a and the </ B> conductor 144 to return to the other direct current conductor 135. Before energizing the coil 139, the electromagnetic brake 101 is excited in a circuit starting from conductor 132 and passing through switch 141, contact pad 142, conductor 145, manual switch 146 and the conductor 103, to end up at the braking element, electromagnetic 101. The return circuit passes through the conductor 103a , the conductor 144 and returns to the other direct current conductor 135. As long as the coil 139 remains energized, the switch 141 is in contact with the pad 143.
The electromagnetic clutch 87 then engages the core 98 and keeps the sleeve 81 coupled with the output shaft 82 . Conversely, when the coil 139 is no longer energized, the switch 141 is in contact with the pin 142 and it immediately puts the electromagnetic brake into braking state 101 < / B> and the 98 core to prevent the output shaft 82 from rotating. The sleeve 81 and the clutch 87 are then free to rotate without imparting rotation to the output shaft 82. < / B>
The sleeve 81 is in constant mesh with the shaft 68 due to the intermediate gear train comprising the toothed wheels 72, 73, 79 </ B > and 80. The pinion 71 is meshed with the rack 65. When the crank arm 33 continues its movement in a counterclockwise direction, the rack 65 pulls the pinion 71 downwards, and causes the rotation of the shaft from exit 82 counterclockwise. As the switch 117 remains in the closed position as long as the upper part 116 of the wheel to cam 30, </ B> is in contact with this switch, the electromagnetic clutch 87 maintains its mating contact with the sleeve 81 and the output shaft 82,
unless the 137 switch opens sooner.
When the shaft 23 continues, to do, turn the crank arm 33, the switch 108 also remains closed as it is. is in contact with the upper part 107 of the circumference of the wheel to cam 27. Other wheels to </ B > cams such as 2.8 and 29 can be used to electrically perform various functions during the cycle. Thus, during the continuous rotation of the crank arm 33, the switch 1 14 is closed by the action of the upper part 113 of the wheel to cam 29. When this occurs, a conductor 147 establishes a connection between the conductor 118 and a terminal 148 of a electrical control device 149.
The return circuit from a terminal 150 of device 149 comprises a conductor 151 which is connected again to the conductor 119 . The electrical control device 149 can be used for any intermediate function to carried out during the cycle and independently of the time relation with the intermittent movement described below.
Similarly, when the raised peripheral part 110 of the wheel with cam 28 attacks switch 111, a circuit is established by a conductor 152 which is connected with a terminal 153 of an electrical control device 154 of which]! Other terminal 155 is connected to a return conductor 156, which returns to the neutral conductor 119. The Control devices 149 and 154 can be switches, electromagnets, relays, etc., which can perform a function themselves or which can trigger another function at carry out during the aforementioned cycle.
A As the crank arm 33 continues its downward movement counterclockwise, dragging the rack 65 with it, it reaches finally its lowest position, and at this moment, the switch 117 opens because it falls back on the lower peripheral part 115 of < / B> the wheel at cam 30. This happens at the lowest part of the stroke in which the rack 65 is of again aligned with the crank arm 33. The spool, 139 then ceases to 'be excited (if it has not ceased to be, previously excited by the opening of switch 137),
and the brake and & clutch assembly 86 is again reversed, as previously described, so to </ B > cut the excitation of the clutch 87 and to put the electromagnetic brake in state. Then, (or at the opening of the switch 137), the output shaft 82 stops its rotation and it is held rigidly in the stopped position, while the sleeve 81 can continue to rotate freely.
Since the upper part 107 of the cam surface of the wheel 27 is still in contact with the switch 108, </ B> the coil 121 remains energized, and the motor M remains coupled with the input shaft, 23. During the upstroke of the arm of crank 33, the lower peripheral part 106 finally allows the switch 108 to open which cuts off the excitation of the coil 121 and reverses the state of the clutch and brake assembly 38 to energize the brake 49 and to stop the energization of the clutch 42. The 23 shaft is then firmly prevented from turning .
All essential functions. occurred in the cycle although the 33 crank arm has not been fully returned to its starting position. The above cycle is determined by a single operation of the control button 127, which can naturally be repeated as often as desired. Every time. that the push-button 127 is pressed, the coil 121 is energized but it remains energized (by the conductor 120) only if it is kept depressed until this than the top 107 of. the wheel with cam 27 again closes switch 108.
Of course, this happens at the start of the cycle as previously described. When the manual switch 128 is actuated, the clutch 42 is kept energized independently of the cam 27. The cycle is thus repeated automatically until the instant when the manual switch 128 is opened again.
It should be noted that, when the hull 30 has an upper part 116 of approximately 1800 and that this part 116 </ B > controls the entire period, during which the clutch 87 of the assembly, & clutch and brake 86 is energized (137 being always. closed), the output shaft 82 rotates during the entire downstroke of the crank arm 33, so that only during a small part of this stroke output shaft drive 82 is abruptly terminated. The nature of the rotation of the output shaft 82 is virtually sinusoidal starting at from the rest position to reach maximum velocity when the crank arm < B> 33 has been advanced by about 90.1.
The 82 shaft then slows down until it comes to rest, the arm of crank 33 being in the lower position, and being aligned once more with the rack 65. This constitutes an important peculiarity of the device described, since the < / B> Intermittent motion described of output shaft 82 can be used in many ways for machine movements requiring high acceleration torque as well as high torque. strong slowing down.
The power of the motor M, as well as the mechanical resistance and consequently the dimensions of the elements of the device such as the dimensions of the gear train and of the shafts, can be greatly reduced compared to to a device to through which the moving parts of a machine are intermittently connected directly to a rotating shaft at constant speed.
The precision of the time distribution with the device described and the part 116 of the cam 30 corresponding approximately to a stroke of the rack , is superior due to the more uniform operation of the parts. The effects of inertia, both at starting and stopping, are minimized when the rotation of the output shaft 82 is interrupted at near the end of the travel of the 65 rack and does not complicate the problem of attaining optimum conditions for the adjustment of the desired movement in time and space.
However, since the cam 30 rotates once with the shaft 23 for each cycle of operation, the upper part 116 of this cam may be chosen in such length and in position as desired, in order to obtain a desired useful effect. The 87 clutch can be opened at the end of the above-mentioned stroke, so that the parts of the machine controlled by the output shaft are slowed down under power ; the clutch 87 can be opened and the brake 101 </ B > tight to precisely stop items, such as moving rollers. bands, with minimum effort. on the brake and minimum residual kinetic energy of the rollers or other mechanisms moving the belt.
The device also allows independent adjustments of certain parts of the cycle times which do not necessarily affect the determination of the overall times of the complete cycle. Thus, the time switch mechanism 137 can independently interrupt and restore the circuit passing through the conductor 136 to the coil 139, at any time when the switch 117 remains closed.
When this occurs, switch 141 is moved to energize brake 101 while releasing clutch 87, and rotating the brake. the output tree 82 can be limited to any shorter time period after the start of the cycle, with respect to a point located before 180.1 of the rotation of the crank arm 33. Thus, for the same period of the total cycle, the output shaft 82, can be made to rotate to a slower or faster speed, depending on the block 60 has been moved inward towards the center, of tree 23, or outward to from the latter, through the adjustment screw 57.
The above description concerns the setting of the times of certain functions in a previously established of time cycle. Sometimes it is desirable to maintain the same operating speed and the same time relationship between some of the functions during the cycle, and then independently increase the total time period of the cycle by adding a rest period, of a predetermined duration, at the end of one cycle and before the start of the next.
Thus, it will be noted that the lower part 106 of the circumference of the wheel to cam 27 allows to the 'switch 108 to open before the completion of a full turn of the crank arm 33. As noted previously, if the switch mechanism 124 remains closed, and the manual switch 128 is closed, a parallel circuit is established by the conductor 123 to keep the coil 121 energized, and the breaking of the switch 128 has no effect on the continuous rotation of the shaft 23. However, when you want to introduce a rest period to </ B> at the end of a cycle or before the start of the next, the switch mechanism 124 can be closed at the start of the cycle, then opened at a certain time,
while the switch 108 is on the upper part 107 of the wheel to cam 27, in position closed. The continuous coupling between the motor M and the shaft 23 depends on the energization of the clutch 42 of the clutch and brake assembly 38, set by driver 120.
When the switch 108 drops to the lower level 106, the switch mechanism 124 being in the open position, the clutch 42 is then disengaged, and the brake 49 is applied, from so that no additional rotation is communicated by the motor M to the input shaft 23. The switch mechanism 124 can then be sensitive to another of timed time interval, so that, when closed again, coil 121 is energized, and the input shaft 23 </ B> is again set in rotation by its connection to the clutch and brake mechanism 38 and by the motor running continuously M.
The switch mechanism 124 then becomes a device making it possible to introduce regulated rest periods, in a series of cycles, which do not affect the speed and nature of the other elements in the cycle once they are set in motion. .
In addition to the above peculiarities, it is sometimes convenient to use an oscillating motion in an operating cycle, and to for this purpose, the shaft may be used. power take-off 74 which rotates first in one direction and then in the other when the rack 65 sorrel under the effect of the rotation of </ B> the crank shaft 33.
U device described is constructed so that a complete cycle can be carried out when the main switch 128 is in the open position simply by momentarily depressing the button 127. All adjustments made by observing individual cycles are such as to remain unchanged during automatic and continuous operation, when the cycles are repeated successively. In addition, as soon as a correct setting is made for a given series of functions, the entire production of the output of the machine can be speeded up or slowed down by giving to the speed of the motor M -a new value.
Of course, it is obvious that the choice is not to be arbitrarily varied (A speed for the motor M during the individual cycles. However, the speed of the motor M can be varied at as desired without affecting an operation taking place during a set rest period introduced by switch 124.
