Method for manufacturing a composite textile yarn and yarn obtained by this process Composite yarns are already known consisting of a core of staple fibers surrounded by a continuous yarn by twisting, molding or other effect. Such yarns could be manufactured either on continuous twisting looms or on continuous spinning looms.
A composite yarn is also known consisting of a core of staple fibers trapped in the turns of a continuous yarn, preferably crimped, with a view to intimately bonding the latter to the fibrous core.
However, these composite yarns can only be used for the manufacture of certain articles because the staple fibers tend to slip relative to the continuous yarn. Only a very twist. high can limit, without negating it, the importance of this shift. Furthermore, the connection between the two elementary yarns is not sufficient to improve the characteristics of the composite yarn compared to that of the most advantageous elementary yarns. Thus, from the point of view of strength, the composite yarn is hardly stronger than the continuous yarn, which is generally more resistant.
The subject of the invention is a process for the manufacture of a composite textile yarn and which consists in introducing between the delivery rolls of a spinning machine, on the one hand a roving of staple fibers and on the other hand at least two continuous synthetic or artificial threads, the continuous threads being introduced on either side of the wick and a twist being communicated at the output of the delivery cylinders to this wick and to these threads, so that the fibers of the wick are pinched between the turns of the two wires.
A subject of the invention is also the composite yarn obtained by said process.
Thus, the core of staple fibers is trapped between the turns of at least two continuous son. These can be chosen from the category of textured yarns, by crimping, looping, deformation, etc. and can be synthetic or man-made. One can advantageously use a wire such as that of the brand BAN.LON described in Swiss patents Nos. 295975 and 300540 and French patents N 1049436.
The proportions on the one hand of the elementary yarns, and on the other hand of the wick in the composite yarn, are chosen as a function of the characteristics to be given to the finished articles, whether it be weaving or good terry or any other manufacture. Usually, these proportions are substantially in the 50/50 ratio, and may vary from this average proportion depending on whether it is desired to enhance the further development of the composite yarn or depending on the desired feel.
The initial twists to be given to the elements forming the composite yarn, whether it be the core part or the continuous reinforcements, depend on the final twist of the yarn which will itself depend on its use, either in single yarn , or in twisted yarn (dress, dra perie, hosiery or haberdashery, furniture).
An exemplary embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to FIGS. 1 and 2 of the attached drawing, which respectively show in longitudinal section and in front view, an ordinary spinning machine.
Fig. 3 shows a longitudinal view of the composite yarn before and after development.
Feed rolls 1a and 1b of an ordinary spinning machine drive a strand of parallel and discontinuous fibers 2. This is taken up by a drawing device comprising rolls 3, a belt 4 and side rolls 5 , 6 and 7. After stretching, the refined wick is introduced into delivery cylinders 8a and 8b.
Two continuous threads 9 and 9 'are introduced at the same time into the rebate of the delivery rolls 8 and 8a. These threads pass over a return coil 10 and are introduced on either side of the refined wick 2.
The strand 2a of the wick emerging from the delivery cylinder is twisted, slightly moreover, only over a short length before the point of connection to the continuous wires 9a and 9'a, which are sufficient to ensure the good holding of the products delivered. . As a result, the wick 2 is introduced into the composite yarn without twisting and does not exhibit the conventional tendency of slippage with respect to continuous yarns.
At the exit of the delivery cylinders, the three elementary threads are united and twisted in II. The composite wire is wound on a rotating spool 12.
The 9 and 9 'wires are BAN.LON wires.
The initial twists of the wick 2 and of the threads 9 and 9 'are zero and the coefficient of twist printed at 11 on the composite thread is at least 65 in one direction or the other. In general, the tor sion per meter to be communicated to the composite wire is proportional to the square root of the metric number of the wire to be obtained.
When it is desired to obtain a twisted yarn, the yarn 11 can be re-twisted with a yarn 11 'delivered by a twisting machine and in this case the coefficient of torsion printed on the yarn 11 is at least 75. The two yarns are twisted. in the opposite direction, in the Z direction if the twist of the yarn 11 is in the S direction and its coefficient can reach a value of approximately 67 for a twisted yarn with two ends.
In general, the twist per meter of the twisted yarn is proportional to the square root of the metric number / number of ends ratio.
Depending on the metric number of the wire that is desired to be obtained, the relative proportions on the one hand of the wick 2, and on the other hand of the wires 9 and 9 ', are varied, while remaining around 50/50.
For example, for a thread of metric number 28 with an elementary thread in BAN.LON. nylon, 70 denier, we will use 53% roving 2 and 47% reinforcing thread.
In the same way for a thread number 40 metric with a BAN.LON nylon thread, 40 denier, we will use 59% of wick 2 for 41% of reinforcing thread.
For such a thread, the metric number of 40 is measured at the end of the loom because, after development, this metric number reaches a lower value of 34, ie a shrinkage of 15%. We then obtain, after having subjected the continuous threads to a retraction greater than that of the wool,
wires such as those shown on the right portion of FIG. 3, from which one can easily estimate the increase in hiding power.
Some characteristics are now given below from the point of view of strength and covering power of the composite yarns, the manufacture of which has been indicated above.
The covering power was evaluated according to the diameter of the threads before and after development. In fact, from a diameter point of view, the undeveloped wire is comparable to the conventional wire. It was thus found that the diameter of the developed wire was substantially equal to the double of that of the undeveloped wire.
From the point of view of resistance, the tests carried out on a thread of metric number 56 made up of two nylon threads BAN.LON ,,> 40 denier and a wool roving, revealed a resistance of 390 g for the composite thread then. that each of the continuous yarns has a resistance of 140 g for zero resistance of the untwisted wick.
The yarns obtained in accordance with the invention produce their best effect after shrinkage either on the finished product, that is to say on the fabric, or on the composite yarn from its manufacture, depending on whether the yarn is knitted. . However, this very general rule may suffer from a few exceptions and it is possible to envisage carrying out the retraction on composite yarn even for yarns intended for the manufacture of fabrics.
In general, the yarn obtained according to the process described exhibits absolute irregularity, good loft determining light, warm and comfortable articles and a covering power practically doubled. In addition, articles made with this yarn have excellent stability in that they do not tend to warp or shrink, when washed, when worn, etc.
Finally, the threads are very soft and have a strength and a resistance to pilling (or pilling) considerably higher than those of similar articles.
Furthermore, it has been observed that the manufacture of such a yarn can be carried out on certain types of direct spinning looms called Stains looms, by making it possible to significantly lower the coefficient of tor sion required on these machines. In this case, continuous threads are placed in parallel in a sliver sectioned into sections of controlled width, then grouped together to give staple fibers which however still remain parallel to each other.
When joining this roving to the continuous threads, the composite thread formed is imprinted with a twist of only 75 to 100 turns / meter, whereas according to the processes in use the twist coefficient must be 100 turns / meter or more to ensure industrial operation.
