Starting device on a recording and reproducing device for tape-shaped signal carriers The quality of a signal recorded or reproduced by means of a tape. (Sound, image, etc.) depends largely on the constant speed at which the tape is pulled past the elements (e.g. sound heads) for recording or reproducing the signal. This is independent of whether the signal is recorded or reproduced by means of mechanical, photographic or magnetic processes. The half are in all devices of the type mentioned.
Swing tracks are built in, which consist of a roller driven by the moving belt by means of adhesion and a flywheel mass sitting on the same axis. The larger the flywheel mass and the adhesive pressure force required to drive it are selected, the more uniform the speed of the belt. In practice, however, these two parameters cannot be increased at will, since they counteract two other requirements: firstly, the start-up time from the start of the recording or recording, which should be kept as short as possible.
Playback device until the operating speed is reached within the permissible wow and flutter and, secondly, the smallest possible mechanical stress on the tape.
There are therefore starting devices have been proposed in which an additional starter motor for driving the flywheel is seen during the starting process. This starter motor is switched on automatically with the belt drive and gives the flywheel a start-up acceleration regardless of the belt adhesion, whereupon it can be switched off again so as not to disturb the belt's synchronization.
However, this starting device only partially fulfills the above-mentioned requirements, since on the one hand the start-up time until the belt is completely synchronized cannot be reduced to less than 6 to 10 seconds and, on the other hand, switching off the starter motor necessitates more switching or disengaging processes. In addition, the starter motor must be switched off before the operating speed is reached, otherwise it will disrupt the synchronization of the belt at the start of operation.
The present invention relates to such a starting device on a recording and reproducing device for tape-shaped signal carriers, with at least one flywheel mass serving to stabilize the speed, which is connected to a roller that is driven by the signal carrier tape in the operating state and is connected to a special starter motor for the starting process stands.
The aim of the invention is to eliminate all of the disadvantages outlined above and consists in that a mechanical clutch is used to connect the flywheel to the starter motor, with control organs being provided so that the starter motor can be switched on independently of the belt drive and brings the flywheel to operating speed.
As a result, the starter motor can be switched on by a pre-selection setting or by inserting the signal carrier tape into the recording and playback device, so when the tape drive is still at a standstill. A suitable control circuit can be used to control the shutdown of the starter motor and the release of the mechanical clutch by the belt drive itself or its activation.
An exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown schematically in the drawing. 1 shows the guide elements for the signal carrier tape on the recording and playback device, FIG. 2 shows the flywheel masses, the starter motor and the mechanical coupling connected in between, and FIG. 3 shows a circuit diagram suitable for controlling this system.
In the example shown, it is a tape recorder and playback device that is used for synchronous operation together with a film, e.g. B. television movie player is suitable.
With 1, the tape and 2 with the drive rolls for the same referred to, which are rotatably connected to the tape drive motor, not shown .. With 3 three tape heads for picking up the sound signals are indicated. In front of and behind the tape heads there is a pulley 4, around which the tape runs for about 180 degrees for the purpose of good adhesion. Between the drive rollers 2 and the order steering rollers 4 there is a further roller 5 which is pivotably mounted about an axis 6. The rollers 5 are connected to one another by a tension spring 7. This device represents a so-called vibration filter, which is known per se, through which the initially occurring fluctuations in speed and tension of the tape are to be dampened.
By means of a radially displaceable shoe 8 each, the belt 1 can be pressed slightly against the drive roller for operation, so that the driver prongs 9 securely engage in the belt perforation.
In order to ensure the constancy of the belt speed, the deflection or adhesion rollers 4 are rotatably connected ver in a known manner, each with a rotating flywheel 10 via a shaft 11 (Fig. 2). A starter motor 12 is pivotably mounted by means of an axis of rotation 13 located outside its center of gravity and carries a friction wheel 14 on its motor shaft, which is arranged so that when the starter motor is pivoted it comes to frictional engagement with both centrifugal masses 10.
For this purpose, the flywheels 10 have cylindrical circumferential surfaces, and the friction wheel 14 can consist of an elastic material. At the other end of the Mo tor sits a guide bracket 15, on wel chem the core 16 of an electromagnetic coil 17 attacks. When the electromagnet 17 is excited, the core 16 pulls the guide bracket 15 up, the starter motor 12 is pivoted and the friction clutch 10, 14 engages (arrows in FIG. 2).
As soon as the magnetic core 16 falls off, the starting motor 12 executes an opposite pivoting movement due to its excess weight or, if necessary, by means of a tension spring 18, whereby the friction clutch is released.
The control circuit explained below, according to FIG. 3, is used to control the system described. 20 denotes a direct current source and 21 denotes a switch which, for example, can be a preselection switch for making the entire system operational.
The control circuit initially has a control circuit which, in addition to the direct current source 20, has a current limiting resistor 22 and a buffer capacitor 23. It also contains a changeover contact 24, which rests against an eccentric 25 under spring pressure, which sits on the drive shaft for the belt drive, for example between the main motor and drive rollers 2. When the main drive shaft rotates, the eccentric 25 moves the changeover contact 24 constantly between two contact positions to and fro. In the first contact position, the changeover contact 24 switches the voltage source 20 with the buffer capacitor 23 together.
In the second contact position, the voltage source is connected via a further current limiting resistor 26 with a further Kon capacitor 27, with which a relay 28 is connected in parallel. The relay 28 directly actuates the switch 29 for the solenoid 17 and the switch 30 for the starter motor 12, which is connected to the network at 31. The capacitor 27 serves to delay the relay 28 dropping out.
When the eccentric 25 rotates, the buffer capacitor 23 is charged from the voltage source 20 and in the other contact position of the switchover contact 24, its energy is passed on to the relay 28 and the delay capacitor 27. The relay 28 responds and opens the switches 29 and 30. It remains energized as long as the drive shaft with the eccentric 25 rotates. As soon as this is stopped, the delay capacitor 27 is no longer charged, and the relay 28 finally drops out and closes the switches 29 and 30 again, whereby the starter motor 12 and the electromagnet 16, 17 switched on and thus the clutch 10, 14 is engaged becomes.
The whole system can therefore be operated in such a way that the starter motor 12 and the electromagnet 16, 17 are switched on by the preselection switch 21, which can be used to establish the electrical connection between the sound and the film playback device, for example, so that the flywheels 10 can be driven while the belt is still at rest. The starter motor 12 is dimensioned so that the centrifugal masses 10 are brought exactly to the operating speed, so that the peripheral speed of the adhesion rollers 4 also corresponds exactly to the belt speed in the operating state. The system is now ready for operation.
In a particularly preferred embodiment, the switch 21 can be operated by pressing the shoes 8 against the drive rollers 2, that is to say by inserting the tape 1 into the playback device ready for use. As soon as the tape is inserted, the starter motor and the friction clutch are switched on, and the centrifugal masses 10 are automatically brought up to operating speed while the tape is still standing still.
When the main motor for the belt drive is switched on, the eccentric begins to rotate and after a certain time defined by the delay capacitor 27, the relay 28 drops out and opens the switches 29 and 30, so that at the same time the starter motor 12 is stopped and its drive from the Inertia mass is removed. The Abfallver delay of the relay 28 is like this. chosen so that the tape drive has enough time to reach its operating speed before the starter motor drops out.
At the moment when the belt has reached the Betriebsge speed, it takes over the adhesion roller 4 to drive the flywheels 10, which are already at operating speed, alone and without interference from the starter motor 12. On the other hand, the belt is synchronized when whose operating speed has been reached is guaranteed by the flywheel from the first second, so the sound quality is at its maximum from the first moment of operation. Practical attempts with the device described resulted in a time of 1/10 of a second from the start of the tape drive to the moment when the sound quality was perfect for the human ear.
After 100 attempts, the tape did not show any visible damage as a result of the adhesion with the rollers 4.
Tests with the same sound player without the starter device described resulted in visible damage to the tape after 3 to 6 starts at the same tape location, while the time from tape start to sound quality perfect for the ear was a full 8 seconds.
The starter device can of course be used in all cases where such a quick start is sought, i.e. with sound film cameras and projectors, normal tape recorders, in the entire television service, etc., i.e. wherever the tape signals immediately after starting the main device should be evaluated and a so-called blind lead time of 6 to 10 seconds as is not acceptable up to now.
The control circuit described and shown (FIG. 3) is particularly suitable for the present application. It should be expressly emphasized, however, that this control circuit can be used regardless of where an electrical circuit is to be actuated with a delay by a rotary movement. When using the simplest switching means, it generally allows an electrical circuit as a function of a rotary movement within the broadest speed limits. If the speeds that occur here are low, the relay can, as described, be delayed by a special capacitor. If the speeds are high, a self-delayed relay can be used instead.
In the first case, the drop-out or response times of the relay can be precisely regulated by suitable selection of the sizes of the capacitors 23, 27 and the current limiting resistors 22, 26. This allows the circuit to be adapted to various uses within the broadest limits.
