Fig. 2 stellt einen Teil desselben Zirkels in Sei tenansicht dar.
Compass The subject of the present invention is a compass with two legs pivotably connected to one another by a joint and with a clamping device seen in the joint.
Compared to known compasses of this type, the one according to the invention differs in that a lobe provided with an eye of each leg of the compass engages in a slot of a head made of elastically flexible material and that the pivot axis of the joint is formed by the bolt through the eyes of the lobe and right angled through the flanks of the slot, which bolt has a threaded part and with the help of which enables the tabs to be clamped in the slot of the head.
The head is expediently made of a thermoplastic such as polyvinyl chloride.
In the drawing, for example, a preferred embodiment of the subject invention is illustrated.
Fig. 1 shows a compass provided with two drawing needles in a front view.
Fig. 2 shows part of the same compass in Be tenansicht.
FIG. 3 shows a detail of the compass in an illustration analogous to FIG.
FIG. 4 is a partial section along the line IV-IV in FIG. 1 on a scale enlarged in relation to this.
Fig. 5 shows a partial longitudinal section through one of the compass legs on a scale compared to Fig. 1 enlarged.
The compass according to FIGS. 1 to 5 has two compass legs 11 formed from round bars. One end of each leg 11 is connected, for example by spot welding, to a piece of sheet metal 12 which partially surrounds the relevant leg and forms a tab 13 with an eye 14 protruding from the leg.
The tabs 13 of both compasses legs 11 engage in a diametrical slot 15 (Fig. 4) of a head 16, which has a spherical shape on the outside and consists of an elastically flexible material, such as polyvinyl chloride, or another, also thermoplastic plastic. The outer surface of the head can be bordered with some before or otherwise robbed.
The head 16 has a bore through which a bolt 17 passes. The bolt 17 sets through the eyes 14 of the two tabs 13 to form a joint and penetrates the flanks of the slot 15 at right angles. To form a clamping device, one end of the bolt 17 is provided with a threaded part 18 which engages in a corresponding internal thread of a bushing 19 inserted in the head 16. The other end of the bolt 17 has a head 20 and a toggle 21 serving as an actuating handle. Between the two Lap pen 13 a friction disc 22 is turned on, which is made of resilient material such.
B. polyvinyl chloride or another likewise thermoplastic plastic, and is set by the bolt 17.
The bolt 17 forms the pivot axis of a Ge joint which connects the compass legs 11 pivotably with one another. Furthermore, the bolt 17 is part of a clamping device for locking the joint mentioned.
If the screw bolt 17 is screwed into the threaded bushing 19, the flaps 13 in the slot 15 of the head 16 between the flanks of the slot 15 and the friction disk 22 can be clamped to a greater or lesser extent, as desired, thereby making the legs 11 of the compass to be determined in a desired spread position or to make it adjustable only by overcoming a certain frictional force.
At the free end of each compass leg 11, a union nut 25 is detachably screwed onto a threaded part of the leg 11 in question. With the aid of the union nut 25, a scriber 26 is detachably arranged on the leg 11 in question. The scriber has according to FIG. 5 a thickened part 27 which forms a tapered shoulder 28 with which the union nut cooperates to press the rear end of the thickened part 27 of the scriber into a centering recess 29 at the end of the 11's leg.
In this way, the scriber 26 is properly held so that it neither wobbles nor loosens by itself when the compass is used.
At least one of the legs 11 can additionally have a bore 30, which is only indicated in FIG. 5 with dashed lines and runs coaxially to the scriber 26. The bore 30 he makes possible, instead of the scriber 26, a collet is not provided with a graphite lead to be set, the latter protruding into the bore 30 or can enforce this bore entirely.
The compass described has the advantage that it can be manufactured inexpensively and that its handling is extremely pleasant due to the elastically yielding clamping of the leg flaps 13 in the slot 15 of the head 16. The spherical shape of the head 16 in the apex of the compass also contributes to a pleasant way of working with the compass.
