Machine for rectifying the alignment of the bends of a tubular coil In the construction of the components constituting the steam generating installations, for example to manufacture superheaters, reheaters, etc., use is made of tubes folded into a coil, it is that is to say of tubes several times bent at 1800 in hairpin, all the loops obtained being in the same plane.
It is important that the hangers at one end of the coil are all exactly aligned. Now, when the coil leaves the forging machine, it happens that the straight parts of the successive loops have differences in length, of the order of a centimeter, and must be modified in order to obtain the alignment of its hangers.
The present invention relates to a machine making it possible to rectify the alignment of the hangers of these coils and to bring them to the desired position, in a rapid and economical manner.
The machine is characterized by a table provided with an adjustable stop which can be immobilized, a die device adapted to be applied to the top of the hangers of the coil, means for moving said die with a translational movement until a fixed point of position adjustable in advance, two pairs of articulated jaws adapted to move towards or away from a translational movement, and come, for one of them, to tighten and fix rigidly the 'one of the straight branches of the coil, and, for the other, to serve as a guide for the other straight branch of the hanger whose alignment we want to rectify,
means being provided to cause the approach or the separation of said jaws. One embodiment of the machine forming the subject of the invention is described, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawing.
Fig. 1 is a plan view of the machine. Fig. 2 is a partially cutaway elevational view.
Figs. 3 and 4 are sections through III-III and IV-IV of FIG. 1.
The machine which is the subject of the invention consists essentially of a table a on which is placed the coil of the tube b which has, for example, on leaving the forging machine, the shape shown in FIG. 1, that is to say that the straight branches of the various hangers of the coil do not all have exactly the same length. The object of the machine described is to bring them back to the desired dimensions, that is to say, to bring all these bends back to being tangent to the two end lines AA and BB indicated in phantom in FIG. 1.
On the table, an adjustable stop c is provided, mounted so as to be able to slide on the support d and be immobilized there so that this stop corresponds to the line AA that it materializes. This being the case, a first hanger is applied against said stopper: the hanger e of the coil b. From this ser pentin starts a rectilinear branch f which ends in the following arch g, which is extended by a rectilinear branch h.
The first arch that we are going to bring in plane, that is to say to be tangent to the line BB, is the arch g. For this purpose, a groove die i is provided on the machine, which can move with a translational movement in the direction of the arrows F, Fi parallel to the rectilinear branches of the coil.
The movement of the die occurs under the effect of a jack j, placed under the table a, and acting by its rod k on a knee-shaped joint 1, of which one branch is articulated on the matrix support i, and the other on a fixed point m </ I > adjustable in position by the square mi.
If the hanger g is to the left of the line BB (in fig. 1), that is to say if the rectilinear branch f is longer than the desired dimension, the matrix i will come to apply against the extra. back of the hanger g, and we will adjust the position of the adjustable stop m, so that the movement of the rod k of the cylinder j causes a movement in the direction of F of the die i, so that at the end of the stroke of the jack the extra-back of the hanger g is tangent to the line BB.
Before carrying out this compression operation, the hanger g was heated along two annu lar zones hatched in FIG. 1 and designated by the letters ni n2. Likewise, the inside back of the hanger was slightly heated before the operation.
In addition, the rectilinear branch f of the hanger was kept immobile by clamping between two jaws 01, 02, which moved closer to each other under the effect of the lifting of the rod p of a jack q located under the table and actuating by an articulated knee k2 the movement of the jaws o1, o2 in the conventional manner.
As seen in fig. 4, when the two jaws o1, 02 are as close as possible to each other, the rectilinear branch f is energetically clamped between the semi-cylindrical grooves provided in the jaws o1, o2, which have not yet arrived in contact with each other in the maximum tightening position.
A similar device is provided around the branch h and consists of two jaws r1, r2, actuated in a manner similar to that of the jaws o1, o2, by a jack q1 whose rod pl acts on a knee joint device k1. But, unlike what takes place for the rectilinear branch j, the branch h, when the two jaws ri, r2 are brought together as much as possible (fig. 3),
has some slight play within the semi-cylindrical grooves of the ri, r2 jaws. Under these conditions, these two jaws simply form a guide around the branch h, and allow the latter to slide, in one direction or the other, along its axis.
The coil b having been thus put in place and heated as said above, the displacement of the matrix i in the direction F causes a compression of the portion of the free branch f located between the jaws o1, 02 which immobilize it and the die i, however, under the effect of the same compression, the branch h will be able to slide between the jaws r1, r2. The curved region g of the coil is then found to move in a way along the rectilinear branches curving in the area nt êt. straightening up in zone n2,
so that the branch j is brought back to the desired dimension and the branch h lengthens slightly.
When the hanger g has been rectified, the next step is to rectify the next hanger s. For this purpose, for example, the coil b is rotated from 1800 on the table a, the hanger e still serving as a reference point of application against the fixed stop c. The hanger then takes the place of the hanger g of the previous operation: The straight branches of this hanger pass between the jaws o1, o2 on the one hand, r1, r2 on the other hand, in the same way than previously. The heating of the hanger regions is also the same as before.
However, it will be noted that, in the case of the example represented in FIG. 1, the straight branches of the hanger are too short compared to the desired dimensions, that is to say that the hanger is to the right of the line BB. However, the matrix device i comprises a hook u which comes, as seen in FIG. 2, hang behind the intra-back of the hangers.
The displacement of the jack takes place in the opposite direction so that this hook u exerts a traction (arrow F) on the inside-back of the handlebar, in the direction which will cause the extra-back of the handlebar to be tangent at line BB. During this operation, the extra-back of the hanger is preferably heated, instead of the intra-back, so that the hook u rests against a region of the hanger which remains cold.
This causes the movement of the curved region s in such a way that the rectilinear branch which needs to be lengthened extends by the desired length and is brought to the desired dimension, that is to say that which separates lines AA and BB. The same operation is then repeated on the successive bends t and v of the coil b.
The machine can be completed by an equipment which comprises a system of saws x1 x2 which allows the ends w1, w2 of the end branches of the coil b to be cut to the desired length, once the rectification of the alignment of the hangers and by taking advantage of the required length of the branches of the coil.
Likewise, we can mount on the table the necessary equipment, not shown on the sins, to bring in place, with a translational movement, the tools which will prepare the ends w1, w2 for welding, or any other operation. desired. In this way, the machine makes it possible, with a single handling, to have perfectly exact dimensions for the coil b and to obtain, in series, absolutely identical coils which one only has to weld. or to be assembled to form the desired superheater or heat exchanger.
