Method for preparing coffee and coffee machine for carrying out the method The present invention relates to a method for preparing coffee and a coffee machine for carrying out the method.
There are known methods and machines in which it is assumed that in a device which has a roasting chamber, a coffee grinder and a brewing chamber, larger amounts of raw coffee are roasted, subsequently ground and finally brewed, always with the view existed, there should be a sufficient amount of ready-to-drink coffee to serve several people together men. Known devices of this type do not work automatically, that is, the individual processes have to be initiated and ended arbitrarily, sometimes also continuously monitored.
To stir the coffee in the roasting chamber and to grind the roasted coffee, a crank has to be turned by hand, so that, apart from the relatively short brewing process, the coffee preparation requires ongoing monitoring.
It is also known to produce ready-to-drink coffee fully automatically by continuously monitoring the degree of brittleness of the coffee beans in the roasting drum and gradually comminuting the beans and feeding them to the grinder. But here, too, the aim is to simultaneously prepare larger amounts of coffee intended for serving several people.
In contrast, the invention is now based on fundamental ideas that are new and not obvious. The method according to the invention is characterized in that the raw coffee is roasted, ground and brewed fully automatically in certain quantities for preparing a single portion of ready-to-drink coffee. Preferably, the coffee is roasted in the roasting chamber from initially around 400 C in a hot air stream to around 250-300 C dropping temperature in suspension in less than a minute, then at a temperature below half the roasting temperature of z. B. 170 C.
The respective simultaneous preparation of only a single cup or portion of ready-to-drink coffee stood in the way of a considerable prejudice in that it was assumed that it would be uneconomical and practically impossible to prepare a cup of coffee for a large number of people within a useful period of time if every single amount roasted, ground and brewed separately.
However, these concerns are unfounded if, on the one hand, the roasting method is used, and if roasting takes place in the rather narrow framework mentioned above when the air temperature drops, and it has been found that excellent roasting can be achieved within less than a minute.
Since the grinding and brewing process does not take much time and preferably a roasting process can be carried out at the same time as the grinding and brewing process for a different amount of coffee, the production time for the ready-to-drink coffee is largely determined by the duration of the roasting process. so that, contrary to the prejudice mentioned above, several cups of coffee can be prepared in quick succession.
The great advantage of the procedure according to the invention is also that each person can be offered an absolutely individual coffee, that is, the guest can determine in advance exactly which raw coffee or which raw coffee mixture and which degree of roast he wants. In turn, floating roasting offers the possibility of perfectly and practically evenly roasting every type and mix of green coffee to the desired degree in the short time mentioned.
Although it is known per se to roast, grind and brew large quantities of green coffee one after the other in an apparatus, and although it was also known per se to roast green coffee in large quantities in the suspension process, the method according to the invention is one represents a completely new teaching for the preparation of ready-to-drink coffee, which is a significant enrichment, especially in the hospitality industry, because for the first time it is practically and economically possible to offer every guest their coffee, which is very personal in every respect, in a short time.
It is possible to make all machine parts, in particular the roasting chamber and the brewing chamber, small, with relatively small overall dimensions of the machine, which of course also have an effect on the price. The machine is therefore not only suitable for the hospitality industry, but also for the household. Above all, thanks to the small dimensions of the roasting chamber and the simultaneous roasting of small amounts of coffee, despite the very rapid roasting, it is possible to choose a relatively low power consumption for the air heater (s), which allows the apparatus to be connected to any point in the network.
The coffee machine according to the invention for implementing the method according to the invention is characterized by an automatically controlled roasting device with an upwardly widening chamber for floating roasting, an automatically controlled coffee grinder following the roasting chamber and separable from the latter by an automatic control organ the coffee grinder following, from the latter by an automatic control member separable brewing chamber with automatically controlled brewing water supply. In the above-mentioned, well-known,
On the other hand, even with automatic equipment for the preparation of ready-to-drink coffee, the roasting room is constantly connected to the coffee grinder, and the output of the same always leads directly into the brewing room. In order to prepare individual amounts of coffee in quick succession, it is essential to be able to separate the individual treatment rooms from one another. This option is of particular importance when a new amount of green coffee is roasted while the previously roasted coffee is still being ground and brewed. If really individual quantities of ready-to-drink coffee are to be produced here, the quantities being processed at the same time must be carefully kept separate. the apparatus according to the invention allows.
In the following, exemplary embodiments of the coffee machine according to the invention and the method according to the invention are explained in more detail with reference to the drawing.
Fig. 1 shows a schematic representation of a coffee machine for fully automatic preparation of portions of ready-to-drink coffee from raw beans.
FIGS. 2 and 3 show essential components of the coffee machine shown in FIG. 1 on a larger scale. Fig. 4 is a circuit diagram of the electrical equipment from the coffee maker shown in FIG.
Fig. 5 is an electrical circuit diagram of an imple mentation variant of the coffee machine shown in FIGS. 1 to 4.
Fig. 6 shows schematically the mechanical structure of a part of the embodiment of FIG. 5. Fig. 7 and 8 are timing diagrams for the circuit diagrams of Fig. 4 and 5, and Fig. 9 is a diagram for explaining the roasting process .
The coffee machine shown in FIG. 1 has a roasting device arranged in the upper part of the same, a coffee grinder and a brewing device located in the lower part of the machine. The roasting device has an actual roasting chamber 1, which preferably consists of a slightly conical glass container which can be removed. At the upper end of the roasting room 1 there is a filling opening 2 which is normally closed by a flap 3.
By pivoting the flap 3 inwards by means of a button 4, coffee beans filled in via the flap 3 can be let into the roasting room 1. The roasting room 1 is connected to an underlying chamber 5 in which an inclined sieve 6 is inserted. The lower exit of the roasting room 1 is closed in the state provided by a roasting chamber flap 7 and the sieve 6 in such a way that the coffee beans 8 located in the roasting chamber 1 cannot escape downward. The space 5 is connected via the sieve 6 to a channel in which a cylinder-like heating element 9 with heating ribs 10 (FIG. 2) is inserted.
The heating element 9, which is designed as a solid metal cylinder with an electrical heating coil 11, has a considerable heat capacity, and its setpoint temperature is determined by a thermostat 12. The machine also has a fan 13 which is driven by a motor 14 and which allows air to be supplied via a reversing valve 15, a line 16, along the heating fins 10 of the heater 9 and through the space 5 of the roasting chamber 1. With the upper end of the roasting chamber 1, an air line 17 is connected, which leads into a cyclone 18, from which the air is directed to the outside via a suitable air duct from.
Below the space 5 and the flap 7 there is a cooling chamber 19 which is delimited on one side by a flap 20. About the control valve 15 and a line 21 can be admitted through a sieve 22 air from the fan 13 into the chamber 19, which can either exit directly at the upper end of the Kam mer 19 or with controlled flaps 7 and 20 through the roasting room 1 and the cyclone 18 can exit. The flaps 7 and 20 are connected to each other by a tab 23, and the flap 20 can be pivoted clockwise by an electric magnet 24 about a pivot point 25 from the position is provided until the lower end of the flap 20 to the lower edge of the Sieve 22 and thus the chamber 19 closes downwards.
As a result of this pivoting movement of the flap 20, the flap 7 is also pivoted about its pivot point 26 and thus the flap 7 is removed from the sieve 6 so that the coffee beans 8 can fall from the roasting chamber 1 into the chamber 19. The reversing valve 15 is actuated by an electromagnet 27, which in the unexcited state allows the reversing valve to go into the position shown in FIG Line 21 and the sieve 22 in the chamber 19 occurs.
Under the chamber 19 is a coffee grinder 28, which is driven by the common motor 14 ben. The coffee grinder can be adjusted by a loading button 29 to adjust the grain size of the ground coffee as desired. The outlet of the coffee grinder is connected via a flexible tube 30 to a funnel 31, the outlet of which opens out via a slide 32.
In the slide about 32 an opening 33 is provided which is at least as large as the exit opening of the funnel 31 and which are moved under the funnel 31 by energizing an electric magnet 34 against the action of a spring 35 (Fi (Y.3) can and thus provides a passage between the funnel 31 and an underlying brewing chamber 36 ago.
The brewing chamber 36 is formed by a tube 37 (Figure 3) and is conical downwards it widens. A winding 39 is inserted between the tube 37 and a jacket 38 'or a jacket web 38 "which, in the current-carrying state, causes a magnetic flux through the pipe 37, which is made of steel, for example, via an upper cone 40, and mainly Caused via the jacket web 38 ″, the anchor part 44 ′, a closure flap 44 and a lower closure disk 41. A ring 42 made of non-magnetizable material is inserted between the tube 37 and the cone 40, and a similar ring 43 is also inserted between the steel tube 37 and the disk 41.
The purpose of the rings 42 and 43 is to let the magnetic flux escape to the outside between the tube 37 and the cone 40 or the disk 41 and thus create a magnetic attraction on the slide 32 or on the edge of a lower closure flap 44 of the brewing chamber 36 exercise.
The closing flap 44 is rotatably mounted on an axis 45 and falls when the magnet coil 39 is de-energized into the open position shown in FIG. If the solenoid 39 is energized, the closing flap 44 'is attracted to the armature part 44' and rests against the lower edge of the brewing chamber tube 37 with a circular ring-shaped sealing surface 46.
If necessary, a sealing ring can be introduced either on the sealing surface 46 or in the groove 47 formed between the tube 37 and the disk 41. A fine filter sieve 49 is stretched over a conical distribution 48 of the flap 44, through which the coffee can flow out of the brewing chamber 36 into an outlet pipe 50 in a manner described later. In the flap 44 a slot-like, flat nozzle 51 is provided, which is directed to the top of the sieve 49 and through which a flat jet of rinsing water is sprayed onto the sieve 49 via a line 52 who can. The flushing water supply is controlled by a solenoid valve 53 (coil 53 ').
At the upper end of the brewing chamber tube 37 or the cone 40, a lateral bore 54 is provided through which the brewing water can be introduced into the brewing chamber 36 from above via a line 55. The brewing water supply is controlled by a solenoid valve 56 (coil 56 ') in a manner explained later. Both the rinsing water and the brewing water are drawn from a thermostatically controlled boiler 57 of conventional design. Using a tap 58, hot water can also be let out from a spout 59 for rinsing purposes.
Provided under the spouts 50 and 59 is a storage grate 60 on which the cups to be filled can be placed and through which the waste water can flow downwards in a manner not shown. The cold water is fed to the boiler via a feed line 61, a shut-off valve 62 and an automatic pressure regulator 63 and is regulated to a constant pressure of around 0.5 Atü.
The funnel 31 is connected in a manner not shown with an alternating current-fed electric magnet 64, which serves to set the funnel 31 in vibration and to convey the ground coffee from the grinder 28 into the brewing chamber 36 with certainty.
The electrical equipment (Fig. 4) of the coffee machine is fed by a three-phase network 0, U, V, W . The boiler 57, which is monitored by a thermostat 65, is constantly connected to the network and is therefore constantly heated as long as the machine is in operation, as is the heating coil 11 of the air heater 9. This is fed via a relay 66 which is fed by the Thermo staten 12 is controlled. In the event of failure of the thermostat 12 or the relay 66, an overheating fuse 67 is provided, which melts when the heater overheats and interrupts the heating circuit.
The motor 14 of the coffee machine can be connected to the three-phase network via a contactor 68. The contactor 68 can be switched on by a push button 69 and is held by a self-holding contact 70 as long as the movable contact of a switch 71 is connected to earth (neutral 0). With one terminal of the switching protection winding 68, a rectifier 72 is verbun, which is connected to a capacitor 73, a relay coil 74 and a resistor 75. The resistor 75 is connected to a voltage stabilizer 76, which gives a constant DC voltage to a variable resistor 77.
The wiper of the resistor 77 is connected to the control electrode (ignition electrode) of a cold cathode tube 78. The control electrode of the tube 78 is grounded via a capacitor 79 and can also be connected to ground via a resistor 80 and a contact of the relay 74. The circuit also has a synchronous motor 81 which drives a camshaft 82 with a number of control cams 83 to 90, at a speed of one revolution in around 40 seconds. The cam disk 83 has a notch into which a movable contact 91 engages in the illustrated rest state of the scarf and prevents rotation of the camshaft 82.
The contact 91 is also under the influence of the relay 74 and is lifted out of the notch of the cam 83 and placed on the opposite fixed contact when the relay winding 74 current he holds. The cam disk 84 controls the contact 71 already mentioned. The cam disk 85 controls a contact 92 which, when switching from the position shown, sets the electromagnets 27, 34 and 64 under current. These magnets correspond to the electromagnets provided with the same reference numerals in FIG. 1.
The cam disk 86 controls a contact 93 which, when switching from the position is provided, sets the magnet 24 also shown in FIG. 1 under current. The cam disk 87 controls a contact 94 which, when switching from the position shown, feeds a full-wave bleacher 95 which supplies the current for the brewing chamber coil 39. The cam 88 actuates a contact 96 which, when switching from the position shown, actuates the solenoid valve 56 and thus monitors the supply of brewing water.
The cam disk 90 actuates a contact 97 which monitors the solenoid valve 53 for the purpose of supplying flushing water to the nozzle 51 (FIGS. 1 and 3).
The coffee machine shown works as follows: First, a portion of raw coffee beans is poured into the recess 2 formed above the upper closing flap 3 of the roasting chamber 1 and the start button 69 is then pressed. The contactor 68 is switched on and held by means of its self-holding contact 70, with which the motor 14 also begins to run. The capacitor 73 is now immediately charged via the rectifier 72 and the capacitor 79 is slowly charged via the resistors 75 and 77, so that the potential at the control electrode of the cold cathode tube 78 increases slowly.
The resistor 77 and the capacitor 79 are dimensioned such that the cold cathode tube 78 is conductive after approximately 40 seconds and the relay 74 is excited by the anode current of the tube 78.
Shortly before or simultaneously with the actuation of the start button 69, the flap 3 of the roasting chamber 1 is opened by turning the button 4, so that the coffee beans on the flap 3 can fall down into the roasting chamber 1, where they are fed into the fan 13 pass through the reversing valve 15, the line 16, the heater 9, the sieve 6 and the chamber 5 in the roasting chamber 1 flowing air stream, are strongly swirled in the same and immediately heated strongly and evenly.
The heating or air heating characteristic of the air heater 9 is dimensioned by the shape and the thermal conductivity of its ribs 10 so that the air temperature initially carries around 400 to 500 C and then drops to 250 to 300 within 30 to 50 seconds. The one shown in FIG. 9 was determined to be a particularly favorable temperature profile for several types of coffee, according to which the temperature drops from an initial 450 ° C. to around 270 ° C. within 40 seconds. With this temperature profile, the coffee beans are perfectly roasted in the time of 40 seconds, which is designated in FIG. 7 with R (roasting).
The temperature profile shown in Fig. 9 is automatically achieved by cooling the heating ribs 10, which are in appropriate heat-conducting connection with the air heater 9 acting as a heat storage device. In order to achieve as even cooling as possible over the entire length of the air heater, the heating fins 10 are partially removed on the side of the air inlet on the line 16, while all the heating fins 10 are present on the outlet side of the air heater. There is therefore sufficient cooling on the outlet side of the air heater due to the already heated air flow.
The air heater body 9 is kept practically at the setpoint temperature of 450 ° C., for example, during the roasting process by the heater 11, which in turn is controlled by the thermostat 12. Only the ribs 10, along which the air he warms, cool down noticeably during the roasting process and are immediately warmed up again to the starting temperature in the subsequent operating break by the air heater body 9. During the roasting process, the fine hulls of the coffee beans and other possible foreign bodies are carried by the air stream through the line 17 into the cyclone 18 and deposited there.
After the roasting process, the relay 74 is now, as mentioned, energized and switches the contact 91 so that it emerges from the notch of the cam disc 83 and therefore allows rotation of the camshaft 82 and at the same time the synchronous motor 81 is energized puts. When the synchronous motor 81 starts up, the cam disk 83 is rotated so far that the contact 91 can no longer fall back into the notch of the same when the relay 74 drops out. By energizing relay 74, capacitor 79 is discharged through resistor 80. However, the tube 78 remains conductive, so that the relay 74 remains attracted, and a new charge of the capacitor 79 is therefore not possible.
After a short rotation of the camshaft 82, the contact 93 is turned over, with which the magnet 24 is excited and the flaps 20 and 7 fold over. The exit of the roasting chamber is thus exposed, and the coffee beans 8 can fall down from the roasting chamber 1 into the cooling chamber 19. At the same time as the contact 93, the contact 92 has also been turned over, so that the reversing magnet 27 has been actuated and the reversing valve 15 has been turned so that the air flow coming from the fan 13 now enters the cooling chamber 19 through the line 21 and the sieve 22 . The coffee beans in the cooling chamber 19 are intensively cooled by this cold air stream, so that the aroma can develop properly in the same.
The duration of the cooling process, which is designated by K in FIG. 7, is around 8 seconds. After this time has elapsed, the cam disk 86 switches the contact 93 back again, where the magnet 24 is de-energized and the flaps 20 and 7 return to the position shown. This allows the coffee beans to fall from the cooling chamber 19 into the coffee grinder 28, where they are ground. With the switching magnet 27, the magnet 64 has also been energized to vibrate the funnel.
By energizing the magnet 34, the passage opening 33 of the slide 32 was moved over the brewing chamber 36 so that the ground coffee from the grinder 28 can now pass through the vibrating tube 30 and the vibrating funnel 31 into the brewing chamber 36.
Before the start of grinding, the contact 94 was also reversed by the cam disk 87, so that the brewing chamber coil 39 receives current and the lower closing flap 44 is drawn into the position shown in FIG. 1, thus sealing the lower outlet of the brewing chamber 36 Has. The coffee powder falling from above into the brewing chamber 36 collects on the filter sieve 49 and reaches a considerable height in the narrow brewing chamber 36.
After a further 10 to 12 seconds, the milling process indicated by M in FIG. 7 is ended, at which point the contact 71 is turned over by the cam 84 and thus the contactor 68 and the relay 74 are made to drop. This stops the motor 14 on. At approximately the same point in time, the switch 92 is also returned to the position shown by the cam disk 85, so that the magnetic coils 27, 64 and 34 are de-energized.
As a result, the brewing chamber slide 32 is retracted into the position shown in Figure 3 and the brewing chamber 36 is also tightly closed at the top because the brewing chamber slide 32 is pulled by the field generated by the coil 39 against the upper edge of the brewing chamber.
In the following, the contact 96 is now reversed by the cam 88 from the position shown, whereby the coil 56 'is excited during a first in Fig. 7 with Bi designated short period and by actuating the valve 56 via the line 55 a first short Introducing a surge of brewing water into the brewing chamber 36 from above.
This is followed by two further brewing pulses, designated B2 and B3 in FIG. 7, which have the purpose of loosening the coffee powder located in the brewing chamber 36 in the time between two brewing pulses in order to allow the next burst of brewing water to pass allow.
Since the coffee powder column in the brewing chamber 36 reaches a considerable height, and the brewing water has to flow through the entire height of the brewing chamber, as many water particles as possible are led past as many coffee powder particles as possible, where the coffee powder leaches out and makes good use of it. The ready-to-drink coffee collects under the filter sieve 49 in the recess 48 and runs through the spout 50 into a cup placed on the grate 60.
After completion of the brewing process, the contact 94 is switched back to the position shown, whereby the coil 39 is de-energized and the lower closing flap 44 of the brewing chamber can fall into the open position shown in FIG. By means of the cam disks 88 and 90, the contacts 96 and 79 are now moved again approximately at the same time and the electrovalves 53 and 56 are thus energized, so that brewing water again through line 55 and rinsing water through line 52 over a period of about 5 seconds is fed.
The water entering the brewing chamber from above through line 55 presses the coffee residue downward out of the brewing chamber, which is facilitated or made possible by the conical shape of the brewing chamber. At the same time the Fil tersieb 49 is washed clean by the jet of rinsing water exiting the nozzle 51. The rinsing water and the coffee residues fall inside the machine directly into a drain (not shown).
After completion of the last described brewing water and rinsing water pulses, which are indicated in Fig. 7 with B and S, the notch of the cam disk 83 now comes back under the contact 91 so that it can fall back into the position shown. As a result, the synchronous motor 81 is de-energized, and the system is back in the starting position shown in Fig. 4, in which by pressing the start button 69 a new cycle of the coffee machine can be triggered.
As Fig. 7 shows, the entire work cycle of the machine takes around 80 seconds, so that every second a portion of ready-to-drink coffee is made from raw coffee beans in a fully automatic way. In order to shorten this working cycle, it is desirable and possible to separate the roasting process from the other processes of the machine in such a way that a new roasting cycle can always be initiated while the cooling, grinding and brewing of the previous coffee portion is still going on . This means that the machine's performance can almost be doubled.
FIG. 5 shows the electrical diagram and FIG. 6 shows the schematic structure of a machine working in this way, while FIG. 8 shows a time diagram corresponding to FIG. 7 of the processes taking place in this machine. Corresponding switching elements or parts are designated the same in FIGS. 5 and 6 as in FIGS. 4 and 1. The contactor 68 has two switch-on windings 68 'and 68 ". The camshaft 82, which in turn is driven by the synchronous motor 81, is with a further cam disk 100 is provided, which via a contact 101, the contactor coil 68 "controls.
The circuit also has a second synchronous motor 102 which drives a camshaft 103 with two cam disks 104 and 105. The start switch 69 controls the circuit of a relay 106 which, together with the cam disk 104, controls a contact 107. The contact 107 in turn influences the circuits of the synchronous motor 102, the reversing coil 27, the contactor winding 68 'and an air heater with a heating valve 108 low thermal Ka capacity, which can be controlled via a suitable, z. B. magnetic or electronic amplifier or controller 109 is fed. The amplifier 109 is controlled by a heat-sensitive switching element 110, e.g.
B. a thermistor, monitors and controls the heating power of the heating coil 108 such that at least approximately the temperature curve of the hot air flow shown in Figure 9 is reached. In this embodiment of the coffee machine, the tab 23 between the flaps 20 and 7 is omitted, and a special control magnet 111 is provided to control the roasting chamber flap 7, which is influenced by a cam disk 112 and a contact 113 according to FIG.
As FIG. 6 shows, a second fan 130 is provided, wel cher is used exclusively for feeding the cooling chamber 19 with cooling air. The reversing coil 27 no longer acts on a reversing valve 15 according to FIG. 1, but rather on a simple air valve 150 which is open when the reversing coil 27 is energized and allows air to flow from the fan 13 into the air heater. Otherwise, the mechanical structure of the coffee machine remains as shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, and the essential processes take place in an analogous manner.
In order to save the second fan 130, a support surface corresponding to the sieve 22, cooled by water or another suitable coolant, could be provided on which the coffee beans fall after roasting and are sufficiently cooled. If necessary, the mill could also be cooled with the same coolant.
If the start button 69 is pressed, the relay 106 is energized, whereby the synchronous motor 102, the reversing coil 27, the contactor coil 68 'and the air heater 108 receive current. The synchronous motor 102 and the fan motor 14 start to run, as a result of which air is introduced into the roasting chamber 1 through the air heater.
The roasting process now takes place in the manner described above, with the heating of the switching element 110 of the amplifier 109 is controlled in such a way that the heating power supplied to the air heater drops, and the temperature curve of the roasting air shown in Figure 9 is practically achieved.
The synchronous motor 102 drives the camshaft 103 with approximately one rotation in 40 seconds, such that after a roasting time of 40 seconds, which is denoted by R in FIG. 8, the changeover contact 1 14 into the Notch of the cam disk 105 falls and is reversed, whereby the synchronous motor 81 receives current and starts. So that the contact 91 is now switched immediately by the cam 83, whereby the Spei solution of the synchronous motor 81 is maintained. The contact 107 then falls back into the notch in the cam disk 104, whereby the synchronous motor 102 is shut down, the heating is switched off and the magnet windings 27 and 68 'are de-energized.
This closes the valve 150. The force air is constantly blown from the fan 130 into the cooling chamber 19 and cools the roasted coffee beans in the manner described. The cooling air escapes through slots in the cooling chamber 19 directly into the interior of the machine. In the meantime, the cam disk 100 has reversed the contact 101, so that the contactor 68 is held via the winding 68 ″, that is to say the motor 14 is kept in operation. At approximately the same time, the cam disk 112 switches the contact 113 briefly and thus The roasting chamber flap 7 is opened briefly via the magnet 111 so that the roasted coffee beans can fall down into the cooling chamber 19.
As the camshaft 82 continues to run, the remaining processes in the coffee machine, that is to say the cooling of the coffee beans in the cooling chamber 19, the grinding and the brewing of the coffee, are controlled in the manner described above. Fig. 8 shows the different switching times of the segments of the camshafts 82 and 103 or the organs or processes controlled thereby (partially corresponding to FIG. 7) of the coffee machine.
If the synchronous motor 102 has been shut down in the aforementioned manner after the end of the roasting process, and the flap 7 of the roasting chamber 1 is closed again after the roasted coffee beans have been drained, which is the case after about 42 seconds (FIG. 8), can in principle by pressing the start button 69 another roasting cycle can be initiated, with exactly the processes described above taking place again.
Before the end of this second roasting process, after approximately 74 seconds from the beginning of the first roasting process, the camshaft 82 has returned to the starting position, with which this camshaft and the organs of the coffee machine controlled by it have been returned to a position from which they become one Another working cycle can be started when the contact 114 falls into the notch of the cam disk 105 at the end of the second roasting period.
The coffee machines described are characterized above all by the fact that they allow a portion of ready-to-drink coffee to be produced from any type of green coffee within a very short time. Not only the choice of the type of coffee, but also the degree of roasting can be adapted to individual requirements. The setting of the roasting time takes place in the circuit according to FIG. 4 by changing the variable charging resistor 77, whereby the ignition of the tube 78 takes place at different speeds and thus a different long roasting time is achieved. A push button switch could also be provided, which allows a premature, arbitrary interruption of the roasting process, by which push button z.
B. in Fig. 4, the charging resistor 77 or the tube 78 could be bridged. Also with the circuit according to FIG. 5, an adjustability of the roasting duration or a premature arbitrary interruption of the roasting could be achieved by suitable mechanical means or by using the delay circuit according to FIG. 4 instead of the cam arrangement driven by the synchronous motor 102.
A setting of the roasting conditions, in particular the course of the roasting temperature, could also be achieved in the circuit according to FIG. 5 by correspondingly variable switching means in the control circuit of the amplifier 109. A corresponding adjustment of the roasting temperature can also be provided in the circuit according to FIG. 4 who by changing the switching point of the thermostat. This setting option is particularly important when the roasting time cannot be set.
Instead of a heater according to FIGS. 1 and 4 with a relatively large heat capacity or a heater according to FIG. 5 with a very low heat capacity, a combination of an inert and a low-inertia heater could be provided, for example the low-inertia direct heater with regard to the air flow behind the inert heater could be switched. The direct heater assumes a certain constant heating, while the inert heater could supply a heating component that rapidly drops to zero over time, so that at least approximately the temperature profile of the roasting air shown in FIG. 6 would be achieved.
It is here and also with heating from finally by an inert heater (according to FIGS. 1 and 4) possible to set the desired temperature course by suitable dimensioning of the massive heat accumulator and the heating ribs on it.
The heaters according to FIGS. 1 and 4, which consist of a heat accumulator or heat reservoir (9 in FIG. 2) and a heat exchanger (ribs 10 in FIG. 2), are based on the essential idea of setting the heat exchanger to a relatively high level for each roasting cycle Bring initial temperature and then send a stream of air through the heat exchanger during the roasting cycle.
The air transfers the received heat to the roasted material, while the heat exchanger cools down relatively quickly and also heats the air that continues to pass by less. This prevents the roasted food from being overheated on the surface. At the same time, the heater has a very simple structure, and the target temperature of its heat storage tank can be monitored by means of a normal thermostat who the. The heat capacity of the heat exchanger (for example the ribs 10 according to FIG. 2) can be selected in such a way that the temperature of the roasting air is according to FIG.
A desired temperature profile adapted to the roasted material could also be achieved by giving the elements of the heat exchanger a corresponding conductivity. Instead of ribs according to FIG. 2, tubular ribs can also be provided which are connected to a suitable heat accumulator, e.g. B. a massive cylinder, are connected ver.
Due to the shape and surface design of the heat exchanger elements as well as the type of heat-conducting connection between the heat exchanger and the heat accumulator, more or less heat can be fed into the heat exchanger in order to influence the temperature profile of the roasted air.
If, according to FIG. 5, only an inertia-free direct heater is used, the roasting chamber 1 could of course also be used as a cooling chamber by simply switching off the heating after roasting, whereupon the air that is no longer heated is the roasted coffee in the roasting chamber. Chamber cools, as described above in connection with the special cooling chamber 19.
It is advantageous to heat the brewing chamber, especially at the start of operation of the machine, so that it is always kept close to the boiling temperature. There is therefore no cooling of the brewing water entering, which is necessary for the production of perfect coffee. For this purpose, a special heating coil can be provided or the brewing chamber can be flange-mounted directly to the boiler of the machine and insulated together with it.
In principle, the machine could also be controlled electro-hydraulic or purely hydro-mechanically. If necessary, at least some of the organs of the machine could also be controlled by servomotors.
The machine could of course also have means that allow the introduction of coffee additive into the brewing chamber.
Instead of roasting in hot air, combined roasting in hot air and in a high-frequency field or using hot air and infrared radiation could also be used.
The aroma formation in the roasted coffee can ent either by storing it or, preferably, in the manner described by swirling in a stream of cold air.
The grinder could either be set for normal milling, in which case the coffee is brewed in the usual way over a filter. The grinder could also be designed so that it grinds the coffee very finely, so that it can be brewed with hot water directly in the cup. This would also allow a very simple and quick preparation of ready-to-drink coffee from raw beans of any variety.
