25,5 Teile 4-Amino-2-cyan-4'- chlor-stilben bzw.

Process for the preparation of fluorescent triazolylstilbene compounds The main patent describes 4- [4,5-arylene-1,2,3-triazolyl-2] -stilbene compounds which are soluble in organic solvents and which are in the stilbene radical in an o- or p- Position to the vinylene bridge contain a cyano group, are free of acidic dissociating, salt-forming groups and contain no color-generating substituents.
Thanks to their blue fluorescence, they are suitable as optical brighteners in daylight for hydrophobic organic plastics. As aryl radicals they contain benzo, triazolobenzo or, preferably, naphtho radicals, that is to say at most two ring systems.
Contrary to previous experience, it has now been found that the trinuclear acenaphthene can also form the arylene radical in the compounds discussed, with bright blue fluorescent 4- [4,5 acenaphthenylene-1,2,3-triazolyl-2] -cyanedilbene compounds being formed, which are ideal for brightening almost white, organic plastics in daylight.
The process according to the invention for the production of 4- [4,5-acenaphthenylen-1,2,3-triazolyl-2] - cyanosilbenes, which are also called 2- [cyano-stilbyl-4 "] - (acenaphtho-1 , 2,3) -triazoles, is characterized in that a 4-aminostilbene compound which contains a cyano group in an o- or p-position to the vinylene bridge is diazotized,
the diazo compound with a coupling in an o-position to a primary amino group couples the aminoacenaphthene compound to the o-amino azo dye and oxidizes this to the corresponding 4- [4,5-acenaphthenylene-1,2,3-triazolyl] -cyanedilbene compound The components are to be chosen in such a way that the end product is neither color-generating nor acidic dissociating,
Contains salt-forming substituents. Chromophores should be mentioned as color-producing substituents which are inadmissible in the end product, for example nitro, arylazo and arylazooxy groups, and also aromatically bound hydroxyl and amino groups. Acid dissociating sulfonic and carboxylic acid groups or corresponding salt groups should also be absent.
In contrast, the aromatic radicals of the acenaphthotriazolyl cyanosilbene compounds which can be prepared according to the invention may also contain inert substituents customary in azo dyes, for example halogen, such as chlorine, fluorine, bromine, alkyl, alkoxy, aryl, phenoxy, acylamino, alkyl and aryl sulfo - nyl, sulfonic acid amide,
Sulfonic acid ester, carboxylic acid amide or carboxylic acid ester groups.
The 4-amino-2-, 2'- or 4'-cyanostilbene compounds described in the main patent can be used as diazo components. As the acenaphthene compound coupling in the o-position to a primary amino group, 5-aminoacenaphthene is primarily considered.
It is also possible to use 6-halogen, such as 6-chloro, 6-fluorine, 6-bromine, 6-cyano- or 6-alkoxy-5-amino-acenaphthenes, which can be obtained from 5-amino- acenaphthene is obtained if this is diazotized and the diazo group is replaced by halogen or cyano or
if the diazo group is boiled to form the hydroxyl group and this is alkylated, whereupon the 5-acenaphthenyl derivatives thus obtained are nitrated in the 6-position and the nitro group is reduced to the amino group.
The conditions under which the 4-aminocyanstilbene compounds are diazotized and coupled with the aminonaphthene compounds to form the o-aminoazo dye, as well as the conditions under which the o-aminoazo dyes are oxidized to triazole compounds, can largely correspond to those reported in the main patent.
In the following examples, unless expressly stated otherwise, the parts are parts by weight. The temperatures are given in degrees Celsius. Parts by weight are in the same ratio to parts by volume as grams are to cubic centimeters.

EMI0002.0006
22.0 parts of 4-amino-2-cyano-stilbene are dissolved in 60 parts of hot dimethylformamide, the solution obtained is stirred with a mixture of 200 parts of ice, 100 parts of water and 25 parts of concentrated hydrochloric acid and at a temperature of 5- 8 diazotized with an aqueous solution of 6.9 parts of sodium nitrite. The diazo suspension is at 10 to 13 with a solution of 17,
0 parts of 5-amino acenaphthene and 16 parts of concentrated hydrochloric acid in 800 parts of water after the addition of 3 parts of a condensation product of p-amylphenol combined with 20 mol of ethylene oxide and the strongly acidic reaction of the mixture crystallized by the gradual addition of about 20 to 30 parts Sodium acetate blunted to such an extent that Congo red paper is no longer blued. When the coupling is complete, the dye is precipitated while warming with the addition of sodium chloride, filtered off and washed out with water.
The moist o-amino-azo dye is then dissolved in 800 parts of technical pyridine with heating, a solution of 60 parts of crystallized copper sulfate in 240 parts of water is added and the mixture is stirred at a temperature of 90-95 until the dye has completely disappeared .
The reaction mixture is cooled to room temperature, 120 parts of concentrated ammonia and sodium chloride are added until saturation and the aqueous copper tetramine solution is separated off from the pyridine layer. The pyridine layer is extracted several times with saturated sodium chloride solution which contains a little ammonia. Then 2 parts of sodium hydrosulfite are added and the pyridine is distilled off with steam.
The crude triazole is filtered off, washed out with water and extracted warm with an approximately 50% aqueous solution of dimethylformamide to remove dark colored by-products.
The residue is dried, dissolved in hot dimethylformamide and the resulting solution is poured into 4-5 times the volume of a 10% strength aqueous solution of sodium chloride. The precipitating triazole is filtered off, washed well with water and dried in vacuo. For further purification, the product is recrystallized from boiling chlorobenzene.
The 2- [2 "-Cyan-stilbyl-4"] - acenaphtho-5 ', 4': 4,5) -1,2,3-triazole is obtained as a yellow powder of F. 242-245 (uncorr .).
This compound is an excellent lightening agent for a wide variety of synthetic fibers, such as super polyamides and super polyurethanes, especially for the Dacron brand from E. 1.
Du Pont de Nemours, Wilmington, Delaware. It can also be used to lighten organic plastics, such as polymers of vinyl chloride, vinylidene chloride and their copolymers with other olefins, polystyrenes, polyethylenes, etc. who are used.
In the above example, the 4-amino-2-cyanstilbene is replaced by 25.5 parts of 4-amino-2-cyano-2'-chloro-stilbene or 25.5 parts of 4-amino-2-cyano-4'-chlorine -stilbene or
23.4 parts of 4-amino-2-cyano-4'-methylstubes, couples their diazo compound as described above with 5-amino-acenaphthene and oxidizes the o-amino-azo dye in the same way to give triazole compounds, see above one obtains the 2- [2 "'- chloro-2" -cyanstilbyl-4 "] - or 2- [4"' - chloro-2 "-cyan-stilbyl-4"] - or 2 - [4 " '- methyl-2 "-cyan-stilbyl-4"] - (acenaphtho- 5', 4 ':
4,5) -1,2,3-triazole as a yellow powder. After recrystallization from chlorobenzene, the compound shows the F. 256-258 or 261-264 or 227-230 1 (uncorr.).
These compounds are also valuable brightening agents for a wide variety of plastics and synthetic fibers, such as polystyrene, polyethylene, vinyl and vinylidene polymers, copolymers, super polyamides and super polyurethanes.

25.0 parts of 4-amino-2-cyano-2'-methoxy-stilbene are dissolved in 60 parts of hot dimethylformamide and then, after the addition of 150 parts of ice, 75 parts of water and 25 parts of concentrated salt acid at a temperature of 5-8 with an aqueous solution of 6.9 parts of sodium nitrite diazotie.rt. The diazo suspension is combined with an aqueous solution of 17.0 parts of 5-amino-acenaphthene and 16 parts of concentrated hydrochloric acid.
By gradually adding about 20-30 parts of crystallized sodium acetate, the mineral acid reaction of the mixture is blunted to such an extent that Congo red paper is no longer blued. After coupling has ended, the dye is isolated, dissolved in 600 parts of technical pyridine and, as described in Example 1, stirred with an aqueous solution of 60 parts of crystallized copper sulfate at a temperature of 90-95 until the o-aminoazo dye is full constantly disappeared.
The reaction mixture is cooled, 120 parts of concentrated ammonia are added and the separation into two layers is then effected by adding sodium chloride to saturation. The pyridine layer is separated and the pyridine is driven off in the presence of 3-5 parts of sodium hydrosulfite by means of steam.
The crude triazole is purified by reprecipitation with dimethylformamide and recrystallized from boiling chlorobenzene. The 2- [2 "'- methoxy-2" - cyano-stilbyl-4 "] - (acenaphtho-5', 4 ': 4.5) -1,2,3-triazole is obtained as a yellow powder from F. 227-229 (uncorrected).

Compounds with similar properties who obtained if in the above example the 4-amino-2-cyano-2'-methoxy-stilbene either by 25.0 parts of 4-amino-2-cyano-4'-methoxy-stilbene or by 26.4 parts of 4-amino-2-cyano-3 ', 4'-dioxymethylene stilbene replaced, the diazo compounds of which, as described above, couples with 5-amino-acenaphthene and the dye obtained with cupric ions to give the triazole compounds oxidized.
The 2- [4 "'- methoxy-2" - cyano-stilbyl-4 "] - or 2- [3"', 4 "'- dioxymethylene-2" - cyano-stilbyl-4 "] - (acenaphtho- 5 ', 4': 4.5) -1,2,3-triazole is recrystallized from chlorobenzene as a yellow powder with a temperature of 258-260 or 259-26l (uncorrupted).
Fluorescent triazolylstilbenes prepared according to the above examples can be used as follows: a) 10 parts of pale yellowish Dacronstoff who in a dye bath of liquor ratio 1:40, the 0.002 parts of the 2- [2 "- cyanostilbyl described in Example 1 4 "] - (acenaphtho-5 ', 4': 4,5) -1,2,3-triazoles, colored for 30 minutes at an internal temperature of 98-100.
To prepare the dye liquor, the lightening agent is dissolved in 2 parts of dimethylformamide, this solution is mixed with that of 0.4 parts of dodecyl alcohol polyglycol ether in 10 parts of water with thorough stirring and brought to the liquor volume with warm water. When the dyeing is complete, it is rinsed with cold water and air-dried. The fabric treated in this way shows a whiter appearance in daylight than the untreated fabric.
b) 0.1 part of the 2- [2 "'- methoxy-2" -cyan-stilbyl-4 "] - (acenaphtho-5', 4 ': 4.5) - 1,2,3 obtained according to Example 2 -triazoles are stirred in 50 parts of dioctyl phthalate and then 100 parts of polyvinyl chloride powder and 2 parts of di-n-butyl-düauroyl-dioxystannate and 0.3 part of a product of the.
