Shaped watch case and method for its manufacture The present invention relates to a shaped watch case and a method for its manufacture.
This case is characterized by the fact that it comprises a welded back, middle and casing ring. between them, a bezel engaging the caging ring and maintaining the movement.
The method of manufacturing this case is characterized by the fact that the aforementioned caseback, caseband, circle and bezel are shaped by stamping, the first three parts are welded together, then the casing circle is finished by turning.
The accompanying drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the present invention and a variant.
Fig. 1 shows a plan view of said embodiment.
Figs. 2 and 3 are sections along II-II respectively III-III of FIG. 1.
Fig. 4 shows a detail of said embodiment, and FIG. 5, a variant thereof.
The box shown comprises a bottom 1, a caseband 2, a casing ring 3, a bezel 4 carrying a crystal 5, and a cover 6 protecting this crystal. All these parts are shaped and obtained by stamping, the general shape of the box representing a snake's head. The bottom 1 is slightly curved to match the shape of the wrist and its edges 7 are raised 900 upwards. The caseband 2 also has edges 8, but folded down and adapting to the edges of the back, so as to form the edge of the case with them. The middle part has an opening in its central part, the edge 9 of which rests on a shoulder of the casing ring 3.
The common edges of the back and the middle are welded together and the casing circle is, on the one hand, to the back on which it rests and, on the other hand, to the middle part. The side faces of the box are formed (fig. 3) by the edges 7 of the bottom and by the underside of the bezel 4; the middle part 2 passes between said edges 7 and the casing circle 3. The circle has a notch 10 and the middle part a clearance 11 together forming a recess in which the bezel engages. The edge 12 of the latter keeps the movement in place by clamping it against a shoulder 13 of the casing circle.
The back and the middle extend, in plan, on two opposite sides, so as to give the case the elongated shape of a snake's head. The middle part present on the upper face of one of these. extensions a device for fixing a cover 6. This device comprises a hinge 14 and, parallel and in front of this hinge, two wheelwheels 16 crossed by an axis 17 around which a spring 18 acting on the cover is mounted. This arrangement is more resistant than that which is generally used and which consists in mounting the spring directly on the hinge 14, thus reducing its useful length.
For its attachment to the box in the closed position, the cover has a nose 19 engaging in a keeper of the middle part.
In the fi-. 1, a spiral bracelet 20 is mounted on the edge of the case at the end of one of said extensions. The dots in fig. 2 my-

Trent, as a variant, a bracelet 21 consisting of a strap engaged in loops 22 fixed on the underside of the bottom.
In the variant shown in FIG. 5, the bezel 4 has an outer notch 23 intended to engage in a corresponding notch made on the middle part 3.
According to the manufacturing method forming the subject of the invention, the back, the caseband, the casing ring, the bezel and the cover are obtained by stamping. The back, the middle part and the circle are then welded together, and the latter is completed by turning, in particular the notch 10 and the shoulder 13, which are deformed by the welding. We can then introduce the movement, then engage the notch bezel on the hoop, and finally mount the cover.
