Lesdites parties saillantes coupantes enlèvent de la pièce 4 un copeau 5 minuscule, à la manière d'un outil de coupe rotatif ordinaire. Les grains. abrasifs, tels que 6, présentent à la pièce 4 une surface, respec- tivement des arêtes arrondies ;
Comme critère d'appréciation, on peut rappro cher les chiffres ci-après se rapportant à l'exécution d'une vis sans fin hors barre des chiffres que donne rait une même exécution par les moyens tradition nels de coupe, soit à la fraise, soit au tour, soit à la meule, soit par quelque autre moyen industriel de coupe que ce soit Diamètre: 52 mm; longueur filetée: 400 mm ; dureté du métal: 100kg; poids die métal à enlever: 2,500kg; temps de meulage: 4 minutes 30 secondes. ;
Grinding device The object of the invention is a grinding device comprising a grinding unit which, during grinding, oscillates in a direction at least approximately normal to the working surface of the rotating grinding wheel.
According to the invention, this device is characterized in that the abrasive grains of the grinding wheel are crimped in a hard bond, and that the grinding equipment is arranged such that it grinds the grinding wheel during grinding by oscillating. at a high frequency and with each percussion fine particles are separated from the abrasive grains by shattering.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, some embodiments of the device which is the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 shows schematically, as briefly as possible, the adjacent parts of an ordinary grinding wheel and of a workpiece.
Fig. 2 shows schematically, as summarily as possible, the adjacent parts of a grinding wheel with apparent abrasive grains, respectively protruding and exploded.
Fig. 3 is a diagram of the tools. impact, respectively burst, in the presence of abrasive grains protruding from a grinding wheel.
Fig. 4 shows the essentials. a mobile crew for percussion tools, respectively bursting.
Figs. 5 and 6 show, in front view and in plan, the essential elements of a variant of the mobile equipment for percussion tools, respectively exploding. In fig. 1, a traditional grinding wheel 1 formed of abrasive elements 2 crimped in a binder 3 forming a support, for example a resmoid, has been partially and as briefly as possible shown. According to traditional standards.,
the harder the material of the workpiece 4, the softer the grinding wheel 1 and more especially the agglomerate 3. The grinding wheel 1, rotating in the same direction as the part 4, comes into contact with the latter by the protruding parts of the abrasive grains 2.
Said cutting protrusions remove a tiny chip 5 from the workpiece 4, in the manner of an ordinary rotary cutting tool. The grains. abrasives, such as 6, present to the part 4 a surface, respectively rounded edges;
as a result, they stress said part by a pressure force which can often be considerable and, by the same token, produce an intense calorific energy which is frequently revealed by imprints, colored in the surface of said part 4.
In addition, each time this pressure force reaches a certain value, the abrasive grain such as 7 is torn from the bonding support 3 and is pulled out, in a way, from the mold.
This separation of the grains poorly conditioned for cutting or blunt allows the underlying abrasive grain (s) to be uncovered in the hope that these have one or more correctly oriented cutting surfaces.
It will therefore be noted that the efficiency of the grinding wheel will depend mainly on the number and the quality of the cutting edges presented by the peripheral abrasive grains.
It is thus possible, over an arc length such as a upstream of the contact surface between the workpiece and the grinding wheel, to determine the cutting power potential of the grinding wheel by counting the aforesaid sail lies and cutting edges. In an ordinary grinding wheel, it will be seen that this cutting power potential is relatively low and that it is only maintained by the sole fact of the removal of inefficient grains with, as an essential consequence, at the same time a bad yield,
a considerable consumption of grinding wheels.
In fig. 2, there has been partially and as briefly as possible, a grinding wheel 1 comprising grains, abrasives 2 crimped in a binder 3, for example a resinoid.
Regardless of the hardness of the workpiece 4, said binder 3 can be as hard as possible. The grinding wheel 1, rotating in the same direction as the part 4, comes into contact with the latter in the known manner through the protruding parts of the abrasive grains 2.
Nevertheless, practically all of the apparent grains, respectively protruding, have at least one cutting line or surface, since these are intentionally produced, preferably, throughout the duration of the machining operation. As a result, practically all the abrasive grains stress the part 4 by a cutting force and detach the chips such as 5 therefrom.
If we consider the same linear length of the active peripheral surface of the grinding wheel, for example subtended by the same angle a, we notice that the number of lines, respectively of cutting surfaces, is greater than in the previous case which is the traditional case. As a result, therefore also, the cutting power potential of the grinding wheel is not only high, but almost constantly kept high.
The abrasive grains, unlike the traditional grinding technique, must be kept as long as possible firmly crimped in the bond and the consumption of grinding wheels, respectively abrasive grains, is practically only influenced by the percussion operation. if we,
respectively of bursting of the abrasive grains, which operation generally covers, at the same time, only a relatively small depth of the projecting parts of the abrasive grains, resulting in an extremely reduced consumption of grinding wheels.
The conditions and effects of grinding therefore deviate substantially from the conditions and effects of traditional grinding.
In fig. 3, there is very briefly and partially shown a grinding wheel 1, the apparent abrasive grains 2 of which are stressed by percussion tools, respectively bursting 8, attached to a support 9 correctly immobilized or set in motion in the presence of the grinding wheel 1 in rotation.
The movements of the percussion tools 8 can be of any kind, respectively developed in all directions, as far as they are. have a high frequency, preferably an ultra-sonic frequency and produce the bursting of protruding parts of abrasive grains with the result of the certain production therein of lines, respectively of cutting surfaces, oriented towards the workpiece. The movements of said percussion tools 8 can be caused by variable means.
In fig. 4, there is shown as briefly as possible a grinding wheel 1 and a percussion tool, respectively bursting 8, fixed in a removable manner at the end of a shaft 10 carrying a piston 11. The latter is guided in a cylinder 12 which it divides into two compartments; each of these leaves a conduit 13, respectively 14.
The cylinder 12 is mounted on a double carriage 15, 16, such that, independently of its own movement, the tool 8 is capable of being moved axially and / or transversely. The proper movements of the tool 8 are produced by the admission, respectively the discharge, of a pressurized fluid, alternately at high frequency in one or the other compartment of the cylinder 12, that is to say i.e. on one side or the other side of the piston 11.
The proper movements of the tool will be adjusted in power, frequency and amplitude, by varying, respectively controlling, the characteristics of the working fluid passing through the conduits 13 and 14. It is thus possible to determine the optimum conditions for producing, in the parts. protruding abrasive grains and in the best conditions, the maximum number of lines, respectively cutting surfaces.
In fig. 5 and 6, there is shown an adequate setting in motion of the percussion tool, respectively of bursting, by electromechanical means. In this embodiment, in the presence of the grinding wheel 1, is disposed a percussion tool, respectively bursting tool 8, in the form of a profiled wheel. This is mounted loose on an axis 17, which is supported, by its two ends, on the uprights of a balance 18 whose hub 19 is mounted loose on a fixed axis 20.
The lower branch 21 of the balance is placed between the adjacent ends. cores 22, 23, of two electromagnets 24, respectively 25. These can be mounted in a common support 26 forming the base of the device.
The balance 18 carries, on either side, a wing 27, respectively 28, each carrying one of the elements 29, respectively 30, of a contactor cooperating with a pair of terminals 31, 32, respectively 33 , 34. The left pair of terminals 31, 32, with the corresponding element 29, controls the circuit of the electromagnet 25, while the pair of terminals. of the right 33, 34, and the corresponding element 30, control the electrical circuit of the electromagnet 24.
Alternatively, depending on the left or right position of the balance 18, respectively of the percussion tool 8, the circuit of the electromagnets 25, 24 will be closed and opened, successively, which will cause the attraction of the lower branch. of the balance, alternately, by the electromagnets 23, 25 and 22, 24,
thus moving the percussion tool 8 with a rapid oscillating movement. The bursting of the protruding part of the abrasive grains will be by impact. The same tool 8, due to the symmetry of the percussion tool, may periodically come into contact with a grinding wheel 35.
Any other simple means could obviously be imagined for giving the percussion tool, respectively the bursting tool, the high frequency movements, preferably at ultrasonic frequency, necessary for the adequate impact force on the abrasive grains.
We can also use any means to project, to the right of the request. of the workpiece by the grinding wheel and of the grinding wheel by the percussion tool, respectively bursting, a jet of a lubricant.
As an assessment criterion, the following figures relating to the execution of an endless screw off the bar can be compared to the figures that the same execution would give by traditional cutting means, either with a milling cutter, either by turning, or by grinding, or by any other industrial cutting means whatsoever Diameter: 52 mm; thread length: 400 mm; metal hardness: 100 kg; weight of the metal to be removed: 2,500 kg; grinding time: 4 minutes 30 seconds. ;
wear of the grinding wheel on the radius: 9 / ioo of a millimeter. It can commonly be assumed, as an average yield, that using the grinding device described, it is possible to cut on a steel cylinder previously treated at 60 or 65 Rockwell C, 1 kg of chips per minute with a grinding wheel. 'a diameter of 600 mm and a thickness of 50 mm.
Another result achieved by the device described is that the examination, both of the chips and of the surface part of the workpiece, unlike what can be observed daily in traditional grinding, reveals chips of regular texture, any absence of trace of hammering or crushing generally due to tearing off by pressure under the effect of non-cutting grains.
