Description
Chuck for thin-walled rings Until now, the clamping of thin-walled rings required for machining was difficult and time-consuming, as the rings were easily crushed and out of round or did not come to rest in the correct plane for machining.
The invention aims to create a chuck with which thin-walled rings can be properly clamped in a short time. It fulfills the task by means of an expanding mandrel and a collet, which are functionally connected to each other in such a way that they can be tightened or loosened by actuating a common clamping element, and also by means of a normal plane to the chuck axis determining stop means for an end face of the ring to be clamped .
The invention will be explained in more detail using the exemplary embodiment shown in the drawing.
Fig. 1 shows a longitudinal section through the chuck and Fig. 2 shows a cross section along the line A-A in FIG.
The chuck housing 1, which encloses all parts of the chuck, is screwed onto a hollow spindle 2. An expanding mandrel 3 and a collet 4 sit concentrically in the chuck housing 1, where at the expanding mandrel 3 on the collar 5 of the collet 4 rests and this is guided with a centering shoulder 6 in the hollow spindle. In the central bore of the expanding mandrel 3, the clamping screw 7 is axially displaceable, which engages in a nut thread at the opposite end of the hollow spindle. Between the collet 4 and expanding mandrel 3 there is an annular stop 8, on the shoulder 10 of which six bolts 9 which can be pushed radially to the axis of the chuck are supported.
A threaded ring 11 can be adjusted on a thread on the chuck housing 1 and determines the radial position of the bolt 9 with a conical recess.
Collet 4, expanding mandrel 3 and ring stop 8 are each dimensioned for a diameter range of the rings and can be changed out easily and quickly.
The mode of operation of the chuck is as follows: For clamping, the ring 12 is first inserted between the collet 4 and expanding mandrel 3 so that one end face rests completely on the ring stop 8. Then the clamping screw 7 is tightened. The conical head of the same expands the expanding mandrel 3 and at the same time pulls the collet 4 into the cone of the housing 1 via the collar 5. This closes the collet 4 and the ring 12 between it and the expanding mandrel 3 abuts the Ring stop 8 held firmly.
By means of the threaded ring 11, the bolts 9 are shifted inward in the radial direction, so that the ring stop 8 is tightened in its central position which is correct for the machining.
