Electromagnetic device for driving the train of a timepiece whose oscillating movement of the regulating member is electrically maintained The present invention relates to an electromagnetic device for driving the train of a timepiece whose movement oscillating regulator is electrically maintained.
The cog of a timepiece, especially a watch, in which the oscillating movement of the regulating organ, in particular of the spring balance, is electrically maintained, can be driven in two ways - by using the energy of the movement oscillating of the balance, or - by means of an electromagnetic device controlled by electrical pulses used for driving the balance.
We know the advantages and disadvantages of these two drive systems. Thus, the first, while being of simpler construction and making it possible to obtain greater efficiency, has the drawback of requiring a mechanical connection between the gear train drive device and the balance, which generally gives rise to disturbances. of the oscillating movement of the latter.
As for electromagnetic devices, they have the advantage of not having any mechanical connection with the balance. However, the known devices of this type have the drawback of being of complicated construction, as well as of significantly increasing the consumption of electrical energy. This arises from the need to provide a system for locking the cog when it is not driven.
The object of the invention is to remedy the aforementioned drawbacks by producing a. Electromagnetic device of simple construction requiring no special locking device, hence the reduction in the consumption of electrical energy.
This device differs from known devices by the fact that it comprises an oscillating member capable of oscillating between a rest position, where it is held by the action, of an elastic force, and a second extreme position where it is brought by the action of an electromagnetic force controlled by said regulating member, this oscillating member cooperating with a cam provided with two driving fingers arranged on either side of its axis of rotation and intended to drive a toothed wheel constituting the first movable of said gear train, the whole in such a way that an oscillation of the oscillating member causes a half-rotation of said cam and, by means of the fingers,
coaches, the rotation of said one tooth wheel.
The appended drawing represents, schematically and by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a plan view, some parts removed for. increase visibility.
Fig. 2 is a section along II-II of FIG. 1. FIG. 3, similar to FIG. 1, shows various organs in another operating position.
As can be seen in the drawing, the device comprises a lever 1 integral with an axis 2 pivoting in a plate 3 (FIG. 2). A spiral spring 4 attached, on the one hand, to the axis 2 and, on the other hand, to a stud 5 integral with the plate 3, tends to maintain the lever 1 in one of its two extreme positions, in particular.
<Desc / Clms Page number 2>
ment in the position shown in FIG. 1 and determined by the support of a finger 6, carried by the lever at its angled end 1a, on the middle part 7c (fig. 3) which brings together two identical parts 7a and 7b of a double cam 7.
This cam 7 is integral with an axis 8 rotating in a bearing 9 fixed to the plate 3, and carries two driving fingers 10 and 11 arranged on either side of its axis of rotation and intended to cooperate with the teeth of a wheel 12, integral with an axis 18, which constitutes the first mobile of the gear train, not shown, of a watch. At the end of each of the two parts 7a and 7b of the cam 7, there is provided a guide 13a, 13b respectively, intended to cooperate with the finger 6 in the manner which will be explained later.
On the other side of its pivot point 2, the lever 1 widens forming a triangle lb inside which is fixed a wafer winding 14, the two ends 14a and 14b of which are connected to a source of pulses. electric not shown. The lever 1b and the coil 14 are placed in an air gap 15 formed by two permanent magnets 16 and 17 arranged one above the other so that the air gap 15 is crossed by a magnetic flux having a determined direction .
The device described above operates as follows. When the winding 14 is not traversed by the electric current, the lever 1 is in the position shown in FIG. 1 where it is held by the action of the spiral spring 4. As can be seen, the finger 6 rests against the middle part 7c of the cam 7, the two fingers 10 and 11 of which are partially engaged in the teeth of the wheel 12 on either side of tooth 12a. Thus the wheel 12 is properly locked without the need for special means and additional energy.
Sending an impulse. electrical in the winding 14 causes, under the effect of the force created by the interaction of a magnetic field and a conductor through which an electric current flows, a pivoting of the lever 1, senestrorsum with respect to FIG. 1, up to its position shown in FIG. 3.
When the lever 1 is pivoted from one of its two extreme positions to the other, the finger 6 moving along the right side of the part 7a of the cam 7 has come to engage in the guide 13a and, thanks to to the shape thereof, caused a small angular displacement of the cam, so that it is now facing the end of the left side of the cam.
Thus, when the electrical impulse has ceased, the return of lever 1, under; the action of the spring 4, will cause a push of the finger 6 on the left side of the part 7a of the cam and, consequently, the senestrorsum rotation of the latter by half a turn, namely until the finger 6 abuts against the middle part 7d. The rotation of the cam results in the deeper engagement of the driving finger 10 in the teeth of the wheel 12 and the disengagement of the finger 11. The finger 10, describing a semicircle, causes, by pushing on the tooth 12a, the dextrorsal rotation of the wheel 12 of a tooth.
During this time, the finger 11, also describing a semicircle, has partially engaged in the toothing between the teeth 12b and 12c. The parts 7a and 7b of the cam, as well as the driving fingers 10 and 11 have therefore exchanged their places with respect to FIG. 1. Wheel 12 is locked again. Fig. 3 shows in dotted lines an operating position of the various members of the device during drive of the cam 7 and, consequently, of the wheel 12.
During the next pulse, the described cycle is repeated and the wheel 12 will again be rotated by one tooth, and so on, during each subsequent pulse.
It is obvious that the device described and represented could be provided in such a way that the driving of the cam 7, and consequently of the wheel 12, takes place by the action of the electromagnetic force and not by the action of the spring 4. It would suffice for this to provide the latter so that its action tends to maintain the lever in the position shown in FIG. 3, and to connect the coil 14 to the pulse source so that the electromagnetic force causes the movement of the lever in the position shown in FIG. 1.
On the other hand, the oscillating member of the device, which in this case is constituted by the lever 1, could be constituted by a member having another shape extending on either side of its pivot point.
