Device for fixing the outer end of a hairspring to the cock of a timepiece The present invention relates to a device for fixing the outer end of a hairspring to the cock of a timepiece; its purpose is to make it possible to independently adjust the active length of the hairspring and its setting in the mark.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, two embodiments of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a plan view of the first embodiment.
Fig. 2 is a sectional view of FIG. 1 according to the AOB axes.
Fig. 3 is a partial section of FIG. 1 along the CD axis.
Fig. 4 is a plan view of the second embodiment.
Fig. 5 is a sectional view of FIG. 4 according to the AOB axes.
In the first embodiment represented by FIGS. 1, 2 and 3, we notice the cock 1 on which is driven cock 2 carrying the upper bearing of the regulating balance.
The racket 3 elastically adjusted to the cockerel carries the first member, which must limit the active length of the hairspring, and consists of all the following parts: a barrel 4 driven out on the racket inside which a needle 5 passes freely. , pressed axially by a spring 6 which can be displaced angularly parallel to the plane of the racket around the rivet 7.
The pressure of the spring acting on the needle is transformed by the conical end of the latter pressing against the hairspring 8 and by the inclined plane 4A of the barrel supporting the hairspring, into a force holding the hairspring fixedly, pressed according to its height, against the barrel surface 4B.
To release the hairspring, all you have to do is move the spring so that it no longer rests on the needle. The latter is then free in the barrel and no longer presses the hairspring which can then be moved freely along its length. The conical end of the needle ends with a very fine pivot intended to prevent lateral displacement of the hairspring when the needle is slightly raised.
The second spring retaining member is formed by an extension of the machined cock board so as to form two jaws 1A and 1B elastically moving apart at rest and being able, under the action of the screw 9, to be brought together to clamp. the hairspring.
The slot between the two jaws is obtained by milling, the width of the milling being greater than the thickness of the hairspring.
While the first member constitutes the main fixing of the hairspring which has to keep it flat and of a strictly defined length, the second member is auxiliary and functional mainly when the hairspring is released from the first member.
In the practical order of mounting the sprung balance assembly on the cock, the balance is prepared with its hairspring having the outer coil slightly apart and centered on the axis, the counting point being arranged within a few degrees depending ankle of the platform. The balance being mounted between the plate and the cock, we then introduce the outer coil in the two fasteners and control

the first organ in order to pinch the balance spring on the counting point. The watch is observed on a recording device to control the rate and the racket is moved so as to obtain a rigorous setting.
This being done, the second member is controlled by tightening the screw so as to pinch the hairspring and make it integral with the cock in a well-defined position corresponding to an exact setting.
During the first check, there is also an indication on the precision of the adjustment and on the length of which it is necessary to lengthen or shorten the hairspring to adjust the rate. The first member is then controlled to release the hairspring and the racket is moved so as to pinch the hairspring at a new counting point ensuring an exact rate. It is in your interest to do this while keeping the part on the device to control the rate.
The racket comprises two diametrically opposed notches 3A and 3B and allowing, when the hairspring is moved for a correction of rate, to introduce a key with two tenons making it possible to carry out corrections of the setting in reference. When the spring is in place, another key is used having three tenons, two of which clamp the racket around its circumference on either side of the tail and the third in the notch 3B.
In the second embodiment shown in FIGS. 4 and 5, we mainly notice the racket 3 elastically adjusted on the cockle 2 and carrying the first member for maintaining the balance spring constituted by a tenon 4 riveted to the racket and a spring 5. This spring is elastically pressed between a bearing surface of the tenon and racket.
It is guided by the tenon and by a pin 5A coming into an entry of the racket and making it possible to control the movement of the spring so as to move the part 5B of the spring away from the tenon or to bring it closer until the hairspring is clamped. . The second member is integral with a cockerel plate 6 riveted to the cockerel and positioned relative to the cockerel by a foot 9, the cockerel itself being fitted in a cock hole and held by a key not shown in the drawing. The folded part 6A of the cockle plate constitutes a jaw facing a tenon 7 also riveted to the cockle plate.
The jaw 6A being at the end of an elastic arm, tends to move away from the tenon; it can be brought together by a lever 10 freely pivoting around the tenon 7 and gradually acting on the jaw until it clamps the balance spring. The inclined surface of the lever acting on the jaw is dimensioned so that the latter remains stable and cannot slide relative to the jaw which it maintains.
The operation of this second embodiment is similar to that of the first embodiment.
Depending on the characteristics of the calibers and particularly the space available, and especially in height, several ways of mounting the two components can be designed. The first member will in principle always be elastically adjusted relative to the cock so as to move coaxially with the balance. The second organ will sometimes be carried directly by the board of the rooster or fixed above or below the latter, possibly by means of another part. For the proper functioning of this second member, it is not necessary for its position to be rigorous with respect to the cock, however it must not be possible for it to be accidentally modified after setting the reference point.
In order to draw attention to the parts, springs, levers or screws allowing the hairspring to be released, they can be colored so that they are noticed particularly well.
