Le cas échéant l'écartement des branches 66a, 66b de la fourche de serrage 66 aura préalablement été ajusté pour éviter que ces branches viennent en contact avec la levée 14. On peut alors déplacer la levée 14 relativement à l'ancre 4 d'une valeur déterminée pour obtenir la valeur de pénétration P souhaitée, la valeur de déplacement étant directement lue sur le cadran du comparateur 38. Une fois le réglage effectué, les opérations de solidarisation de l'ancre 4 décrites ci-dessus sont effectuées en sens inverse.
