Electrically heated water heater The invention relates to a device for heating liquids by electric current with a regulating device for the flow of the liquid, e.g. B. to an electric water heater for water, and the aim is to simplify the construction of this type of device, to make it more compact, to make cheaper and to make their operation easier, simpler and more convenient.
Electrically heated instantaneous water heaters with a manually operated inlet valve usually have a channel body made of insulating material with a throughflow channel, in the middle, widened section of which a heating coil that can be switched on and off by a switch is arranged.
With such instantaneous water heaters, the device has a very simple, space-saving construction if, according to the invention, the throughflow channel is arranged around the inlet valve in the form of circular, interconnected channel sections and the inner channel section is connected to the inlet and the outer channel section is connected to the outlet of the device . It is possible in this way to accommodate as long a flow channel as possible in a device with small external dimensions without requiring additional space for the nozzle and the switch. Rather, the switch and nozzle can be arranged in the space enclosed by the flow channel.
The inlet valve is expediently connected to the switch in such a way that after opening and before closing the inlet valve, the switch is actuated with the handle of the inlet valve to switch it on and off.
Such a connection of inlet valve and switch is known per se, but can be used with particular advantage in the circular arrangement of the flow channel because the switching elements and the inlet valve are close to one another in the space enclosed by the flow channel.
The manufacture of circular channel sections does not present any difficulties if the channel sections formed as recesses in the channel body are covered by a base plate made of insulating material.
An exemplary embodiment of the invention is shown schematically in FIGS. 1 and 2.
A channel body 2, also made of insulating material, is attached to a base plate 1 made of plastic, in which annular recesses 3, 4, 5 connected to one another are made.
The recesses 3, 4, 5 are covered by the base plate 1 and form a flow channel. A membrane housing 7, which is provided with a connection piece 6 and is closed by a membrane 8, is attached to the rear of the base plate 1. By means of a valve closure body 10 attached to a valve spindle 9, the membrane 8 is pressed in a sealing manner against an inlet valve seat 11 attached in the membrane housing 7. The interior of the membrane housing 7 is connected to the inner part 3 of the flow channel via a channel 12 passing through the base plate 1 and a radial recess 13.
The middle part 4 of the flow channel is widened at 4 ′ and receives a semicircular heating coil 14. The ends of the heating coil 14 are connected to contact springs 16, 16 'by connecting screws 15, 15'. The mating contacts 17, 17 'are connected to the mains voltage via a connection cable (not shown). The outer part 5 of the through-flow channel stands with a hole 18 in the channel body 2

a swivel spout 19 in connection.
A sleeve 21 provided with a conical body 20, which is mounted in a device cap 22 placed on the channel body 2, is guided on the valve spindle 9 in a non-rotatable but axially displaceable manner. The sleeve 21 is connected to a rotary knob 23. A locking pin 24 is provided on the sleeve 21, which works together with a cam 25 attached to the housing cap 22 in such a way that an axial displacement of the sleeve 21 is only possible when the valve spindle 9 is rotated, i.e. when the inlet valve 10/11 is open.
The rotary knob 23 first opens the inlet valve 10/11 by turning the valve spindle 9, so that the cold water flows through the channels 12, 13, 3, 4, 5, 18 to the outlet 19. In this open position of the inlet valve 10/11, the cam 25 and the locking pin 24 no longer prevent axial displacement of the sleeve 21, so that this (21) with the conical body 20 on the valve spindle 9 can be pushed inward by pressing the rotary knob 23. The contacts 16, 17 and 16 ', 17' are thereby closed by the conical body 20 and the heating coil 14 is switched on.
As a result, the water is heated in the middle part 4 'of the flow channel. The locking pin 24 and the cam 25 ensure that the inlet valve 10 / l1 cannot be closed when the rotary knob 23 is pressed in, ie when the heating coil 14 is switched on.
The circular arrangement of the flow channel 3, 4, 5 makes the device small and handy, and enables the inlet valve and the switch to be arranged within the space enclosed by the flow channel.
In the exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2, the current is switched on directly by axially pushing in the sleeve 21, a suitable locking device 24, 25 ensuring that the current cannot be switched on without the water valve 10, 11 being opened is.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 3, the current is only switched on indirectly via a membrane switch, so that the current is not switched on when the water valve is open but there is no water pressure in the line for any reason. On the other hand, when the water pressure is present, it is switched on automatically, without a special switch having to be actuated, as is the case with the first exemplary embodiment.
The switching elements are shown purely schematically in FIG.
Corresponding parts are denoted in FIGS. 1 and 2 and in FIG. 3 with the same reference numerals. The water flows in the direction of the arrow through the connection piece 6, via the valve 10, 11 actuated by a handle 26 into a channel 27, 28. A channel 29 branches off from the channel 27, 28 and opens into the pressure chamber 30 of a membrane switch 31. The membrane switch 31 switches the current through the heating coil 14 in two poles via contacts 32, 32 ′.
The heating coil 14 is arranged in an annular channel 4, similar to the exemplary embodiment according to FIGS. 1 and 2. The channel 4 is connected on the one hand to the radial channel 28 via an inner annular channel 3 which is concentric thereto and to the outlet 18 via an outer channel 5 which is also concentric to it.
When the valve 10, 11 is opened by means of the handle 26, the water flows through the device via the channels 27, 28, 3, 4 and 5. At the same time, the water pressure passes through the channel 29 under the membrane of the membrane switch 31, whereby the contacts 32, 32 'are closed and the current through the heating coil 14 is switched on and the water flowing through is heated. If no water flows in spite of the opening of the valve 10, 11, the membrane switch is also not actuated and the current is not switched on, so that no impermissible dry heating of the device can take place. A lamp 33 is connected in parallel to a part of the heating coil 14 and indicates that the device is working.
A regulating throttle 34, which can be fixedly adjusted according to the respective local conditions, can be provided in the channel 28.
