Process and device for the operation of dry powder fire extinguishing systems: Dry powder fire extinguishing systems usually consist of a pressure-resistant container filled with the extinguishing powder, from which the powder is expelled into the extinguishing line by means of a pressurized gas. The pressurized gas is the carrier for the powder, which makes it easy to flow. However, in order to achieve a good extinguishing effect, the powder must be conveyed in a constant stream with regard to the ratio of compressed gas / powder, the best effect being achieved when only small amounts of compressed gas get into the fire with the powder.
The invention deals with the problem of loosening the extinguishing powder in dry powder extinguishing systems before the start of the extinguishing process, and it solves the problem in that in dry powder fire extinguishing systems in which the extinguishing powder is conveyed by a compressed gas from a storage container into an extinguishing line, the The container is first placed from below under the delivery pressure and then connected to the delivery pressure gas source with the closure of the pressurized gas source acting on it here, opening the delivery line.
This measure ensures that the pressurized gas initially entering the container near the container bottom, for example near the connection of the conveying line, penetrates the powder it has received, loosens it and puts it in a flowable state, so that it then differs from the actual powder Conveying pressure gas can be easily pushed out.
The new method is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing, which shows, for example, some devices for its implementation in a schematic representation. 1 shows a basic configuration of a system for carrying out the new method, FIG. 2 shows a switchover device for the optional connection of the loosening nozzles or the delivery pressure gas line to the pressurized gas source, FIGS. 3 and 4 two possibilities for an automatic switchover.
The dry powder fire extinguishing system according to .der Fig. 1 consists in the usual way of a pressure-tight storage container 1 for the dry powder 2, which is connected to the bottom with the interposition of a valve 9 to a conveyor line 5 and in the lid of a pressure gas line 4 opens into a valve 8 is switched on. The cover also carries a pressure indicator 6. Near the bottom of the container 1 there is a ring line 10 with upwardly directed nozzle holes 11, which is connected to a supply line 3 with a shut-off valve 7.
Such container designs for dry powder fire extinguishing systems are basically known. According to the invention, however, the system is operated in such a way that, when the valves 8 and 9 are closed, only valve 7 is initially opened for commissioning. The line 3 is connected to a source of pressurized gas, and when the valve 7 opens, pressurized gas flows out of the nozzle holes 11 and penetrates the powder 2, which is thus loosened and whirled up. As soon as the pressure in the container 1 has approximately reached the operating pressure that can be read on the display device 6, the valves 8, 9 are opened, closing the valve 7.
The container 1 and the powder 2 that has been taken up and loosened up by it, that is to say put into the flowable state, are then under operating pressure, and the pressurized gas entering pushes the extinguishing powder 2 into the conveying line 5.
The two valves 7, 8 according to FIG. 1 are according to FIG. 2 by a two-way valve 8a, which enables the optional connection of a compressed gas source to the line 3 or the line 4. The two-way valve 8a can be connected from a shut-off position for both lines 3, 4 either with the line 3 or the line 4 to the line 4a leading to the compressed gas source.
For automatic switching of the compressed gas source from the line 3 to the line 4, a device according to FIG. 3 can be provided. A cylinder 12 is inserted here in a hole in the lid 1 a of the container 1, in which a piston 13 is displaceably guided. The opening of the cylinder 12 on the outside of the lid 1 a is expediently covered by a sieve 14. The piston 13 is coupled by a cable 15 to a radial arm 16 of the plug 8a, which still carries a second radial arm 17 on which a train spring 18 engages.
The plug 8a is influenced by the spring 18 in the counterclockwise direction of rotation, the arm 17 resting against a stop 19, in which position the plug 8a connects the bores 4a and 3 with one another. Due to the pressurized gas flowing into the container 1 in this position of the plug 8a, a pressure is built up while swirling up the powder in the container 1, which loads the piston 13 on the side where the cable pull 15 engages and the piston 13 in the cylinder 12 in the direction moves against the container lid la.
As a result, the plug 8a is rotated clockwise in the direction of rotation until the radial arm 17 comes to rest against a fixed stop 20. In this position, the supply line 4a is connected to the device 4 Lei. The position of the stop 20 is such that when the radial arm 17 rests on it, the spring 18 adopts approximately a dead center position and when the compressed gas supply is shut off and the pressure is then reduced in the container 1, the plug 8a returns to the basic position, in which the line 3 is connected to the line 4a.
The cylinder 12 can also be arranged on the outside of the cover la.
In the modification according to Fig. 4, the compressed gas source is closed by a ver provided with a valve line 4c on a valve block 21 and with a bypass line 22 to a second control block 23, but the two control blocks 21 and 23 also a construction Can form a unit. The control block 23 is connected to the loosening line 3.
The connection between the lines 22 and 3 in the control block 23 is controlled by a membrane 24, which is held by an annular nut 25 and is acted upon on the underside by the pressure in the container 1, since the control block 23 is in a through hole in the lid of the container 1 is screwed in. The control block 21 is also seated in a through-hole in the lid of the container 1. As soon as pressure equalization between the lines 4c, 22 and the container 1 is created by the supply of pressurized gas into the container 1 through the line 3, the membrane 24 blocks the further passage passage of pressurized gas from line 22 to line 3.
The pressure in the line 27 then rises, so that a membrane 28 terminating it is raised. The membrane 28 is loaded via a piston 29 by a spring 31, the tension of which can be adjusted by a screw plug 32. The membrane 28 is held by an annular nut 33 on the control block 21, the screw plug 32 from the annular nut 33 is received. In the area of the surface of the block 21 covered by the membrane 28, a bore 30 which is connected to the delivery pressure gas line 4 goes off.
With the build-up of the pressure in the container 1 via the lines 4c, 22 and 3 leading to the loosening nozzles, the connection between the lines 22 and 3 is interrupted by the pressure in the container 1 through the membrane 24 and simultaneously from the Membrane 28, the connection of the line 4c, 27 to the line 30 which is connected to the line 4 is released.
With this device, the access of pressurized gas to the loosening nozzles is blocked as soon as the pressure in the container has reached a predeterminable value, and only then is the influx of pressurized gas released for delivery.
