Apparatus for automatically adjusting a machine part This invention relates to an apparatus for automatically adjusting a machine part, e.g. B. for machine tools, measuring equipment or the like.
The purpose of the invention is to enable a machine part to be moved from one position to another automatically with great precision. It often happens that, for example, the support or table of a machine tool must be set very precisely, and it is advantageous if this can be done automatically.
The inventive device for automatically adjusting a machine part has a counter to count the movement units of this part in conjunction with means for moving a machine part, and a movement-limiting device, which can be set beforehand so that it is in action at a certain count occurs and the movement of the machine part is limited. It should be noted that the term automatic adjustment is used here in a general sense, so that it includes both the case where the power for movement is obtained from a mechanical drive machine and the other case where this Force is exerted by hand, with the limitation of movement being effected automatically.
The term machine part is also used here in a comprehensive sense and is intended to include instrument parts such as microscopes and measuring instruments, as well as tools and other devices.
Advantageously, the counter is an electronic counter, the movement of the machine parts causing the output of pulses to be counted.
The means for emitting electrical pulses can be of various types. A lead screw can be used, for example, to cause movements of the machine part, and when this lead screw is rotated, contacts can be closed repeatedly or mirrors can be operated, which again illuminate a light-sensitive cell. A linear scale can also be provided which is divided into units which can be electronically scanned. However, for small dimensions of the order of magnitude of 0.0025 mm, this arrangement encounters difficulties.
A magnetically recorded tape or wire having control signals is advantageously used. If a magnetic tape or a tape that has been coated or impregnated with magnetic material is used and moved at a suitable constant speed through a signal recording device, then a series of successive magnetic modulations can be impressed on this tape, the distances from one another corresponding to an effective unit of length .
If, for example, a magnetic sound recording device is used, which makes a sound of a special frequency that is not necessarily within the audible range, and the tape is run through this device at the appropriate speed, then this tape can be used with a series of modulations Gaps of 0.0025 mm to be embossed.
This tape can then be attached either to the stationary or to the movable part of the machine table, with a suitable electromagnetic pickup is arranged on the other part of the table, so that when this table is moved relative to the stationary slide th the magnetic tape and the electromagnetic pickup move relative to each other. A number of pulses are generated in the pickup, which are transmitted to the counting device at a speed of one pulse per 0.0025 mm of movement length.
Preferably, the magnetic tape is initially made a small fraction shorter than the required length and is then stretched to normal length on the machine by being held between adjustable tensioning members.
In the accompanying drawing an example embodiment of the subject invention is shown. It shows: Fig. 1 a circuit diagram, which is used to understand the operation of the device for automatically adjusting a machine part, Fig. 2. A front view of a Lehrenbohrma machine, in which is shown, which is provided with the example, and Fig. 3 a circuit diagram of the signal pick-up which is arranged on the machine shown in FIG. Referring to Fig. 1, a magnetic tape 11 between an anchor point 12, which is on the machine tool, namely a Lehrenbohrma machine, and a clamping part 13 is stretched parallel to the support 14 of the machine.
A sequence of magnetic modulations as described above are recorded on the magnetic tape 11, namely approximately 400 or preferably more modulations per centimeter of tape length. The support 14 of the machine tool forming the machine part to be set is actuated by a lead screw 15, which in turn, as shown schematically in FIG. 1, is driven by an electric motor 16 via a reduction gear 22.
On the support 14, a magnetic Signalab subscriber 17 is arranged, which is connected to an electronic counter 19 by an electrical line 18 via a control unit 23, which is provided with a push button 24, and when the support 14 is moved, the modulations of the Ban of the 11 corresponding pulses and passed as electrical pulses to the counter 19, which counts them electronically and indicates the distance covered from a zero point, which corresponds to one end of the scale.
The electronic counter may be the same as the pre-dial counter described in Electronic Engineering magazine, October 1953, page 424, which utilizes a number of tubes 20, commonly known as decatron tubes, each of which tubes have ten cathodes circular arranged on and has associated means to operate the cathodes stepwise in cyclic order. The tubes 20 are juxtaposed and provided with means whereby one-digit pulses are counted through one tube, tens-digit pulses through another tube, hundreds-digit pulses through another tube, and so on.
A corresponding number of selector switches 21 are arranged in the counter 19, one in the vicinity of each tube 20, furthermore, the selector switches can be set in advance to a specific number expressed in hundreds, tens, ones, etc. As described in the magazine mentioned, after the tubes have counted the previously set dimension, a thyratron tube is actuated, which brings the drive 22 to a standstill by means of a relay. Therefore, if the device is operated from zero by pressing the push button 24, the support 14 moves to the point that corresponds to the previously set setting, and then stops.
In view of the fact that it is intended to adjust the support 14 to a degree of accuracy of 0.025 mm or finer, the reduction gear box 22 includes a clutch which is connected by a line 25 via a relay 27 to the counter 19 while the engine is running 16 is also connected to the counter 19 by a conductor 26 via a relay 28. Shortly before the beginning of the process, the counter emits an introductory pulse through line 26. When the counter reaches the number which was previously set to 0.25 mm, for example, then a signal from the counter to the reduction gear and clutch box 22 is sent through the line 25 and the relay amplifier 27, which a change in the gear reduction and a slowing down of the Movement acts at a predetermined speed be.
A second signal emitted by the counter 19 is received by both lines 25 and 26, the first signal interrupting the power supply to the motor 16, while the second signal decoupling and braking the reduction gear 22.
In Fig. 2, the jig drilling machine is shown, which has a foot part 30 with a column 31, a drilling spindle 32 and a table 33, all of which have a normal design. Under one end of the table, a drive unit is net angeord, which consists of a motor 16 together with a reduction gear and coupling box 22 and corresponds to the parts described in connection with Fig. 1, this unit being driven by a suitable drive 34 with the guide pin - del 15 of the machine table is connected.
As already described with reference to FIG. 1, a magnetic tape 11 is arranged stretched out below the table 33 between a fixed anchor point 12 and an adjustable tensioning part 13. The table 33 carries a number of signal pickups 17, 27, 37, 47, 57 and the latter are as indicated by the dotted Lei device 18, connected to the control box 23 and are connected to the counter 19 via the latter. This counter is through the lines 25, 26 and through the control box 23 with the motor and the reduction gear and coupling box, as already described, the verbun. The control box 23 and the counter 19 can be arranged at any convenient location for the operator.
To automatically operate the cross slide, a second magnetic tape can be seen at right angles to the tape 11 together with other signal pickups below the support 33 in order to work with him, and a second counter similar to the device 19 can be arranged to control a separate Queran drive For the sake of simplicity, however, these parts are not shown in the drawing.
The purpose of the various signal pickups 17 to 57 will now be described with reference to FIG. It is impractical to record more than about 800 periods per centimeter on the magnetic tape 11, on the other hand, however, it is desirable to be able to set the support 33 forming the machine part to be adjusted to 0.0025 mm. The signal pickups 17 to 57 consist of ring-shaped magnetic cores with narrow slots 35 which reach close to the belt 11. If a magnetic modulation recorded on the tape comes to lie opposite one of the slots 35 in the signal pick-ups 17 to 27, it creates a magnetic effect in the core 36 of the signal pick-up and this work is wrapped in a coil 38 connected to the control box 23 is connected, in which the pulse is electrically amplified and then transmitted to the counter 19.
A single signal pickup can therefore enable the support 33 to move to a previously set position with a degree of accuracy of 0.0125 mm. The signal pick-up 17 is arranged at a precise distance of, for example, 50 mm plus or minus 0.0025 mm from the pick-up 27. The signal pick-up 37 is arranged in the same way with a space between the pick-up 27, and so are the pick-ups 47 and 57.
This means that the signal pickups 27, 37, 47 and 57 work one after the other during a fifth of the magnetization period recorded on the tape, which means that these pickups work with support movements that correspond to a mutual distance of 0.0025 mm, and therefore the period is repeated every 0.0025 mm and pulses are given to the counter after every movement of 0.0025 mm, so that the support 33 can be precisely adjusted to this accuracy, provided that the gear 22 slows the movement before reaching the stopping point in sufficient measure to give the clutch and brake time to act during a movement of the support that is less than 0.0025 mm be.
For this reason, the final speed, i.e. the reduced speed of the support, should not exceed approximately 0.051 mm per second. To ensure that the signals and pickups 17 to 57 function properly at such a speed, the signal pickups and their amplification means should be as described in Electronic magazine, September 1954, page 156, where the Magnetic tape pickup and the circuits associated with them are dependent on the direction of movement of the tape 2u the heads.
Another advantage of this arrangement is that every movement of the support in one direction produces a positive reaction, while in the opposite direction it produces a negative reaction, which means that the pulse head is directionally sensitive and the counter is directionally sensitive when the support is reversed registered backwards to zero. A reversal of the support can be effected on the control box 23 by means of an additional push button 44 and an emergency shut-off button 54 can also be provided there.
If, as described above, a second movement of the support into a different position is required, the operator must set the counter 19 accordingly, but it is clear that the previously set switches 21 are also arranged for automatic actuation by a camshaft who could, thereby moving the support to a number of different positions in turn. If the cross slide is controlled in a similar manner, the work piece can practically be automatically set in any desired sequence of positions over its entire surface.
Even in cases where such automatic movement control is not used, it is easy for an operator to set the switch 21 again for the next operation after executing a certain movement and after stopping the drive 22, as long as the machine is, for example, one Performs drilling operation in an already set position, and since the worker also has enough time to set and test, time is saved and precision is improved. It should also be noted that the setting accuracy is completely independent of any defects in the lead screw, since it depends only on the accuracy of the magnetic tape 11.
It is also important that the device described can also be applied to a rotating body, such as a circular support or a partial head.
