Machine for the manufacture of packaging simultaneously with their filling, from extrudable materials
The subject of the invention is a machine for the manufacture of packaging simultaneously with their filling, from extrudable materials.
The machine according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises at least one means for extruding the material constituting the packaging through an annular die, means for admitting a fluid into the extruded section during the extrusion operation. , a means for supporting and refrigerating the lower part of the extruded section during its extrusion, a means for introducing the product to be packaged in the bottom of the extruded section, a means for ensuring during said loading operation, the evacuation of the fluid contained in said extruded section and a means for sealing, respectively cutting, the package thus loaded.
In a particular embodiment of the machine, at the center of an extrusion head serving as a reservoir for the extrudable material, are arranged two concentric vertical tubes, opening into the section being formed, the fixed outer tube being in relationship with a source of fluid, while the central tube, in communication with the source of the material to be packaged, is capable of moving axially according to an amplitude determined by the length of the packaging to be produced, so that this tube central plunges into the finished extruded section up to near its bottom and pours therein by raising the material to be packaged, which expels the fluid previously admitted for the formation of said section.
In addition, at an adjustable level predetermined by the lower edge of the extruded element can be arranged on the one hand a photoelectric cell controlling a control relay of the extrusion head in relation to an electromagnetic valve controlling the admission. of the product to be packaged, and on the other hand an exciting lamp.
Finally, each extruded section can be, from the start of its formation, supported in a constant-level bath, in which it is also cooled and hardened, then after sealing and cutting, immersed in the refrigeration bath to be removed by a device. transport starting from the bottom of said bath.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the machine which is the subject of the invention.
Figs. 1 to 4 summarize schematically four characteristic phases of the operation of a machine according to the invention.
Fig. 5 shows schematically in vertical section the essential elements of said embodiment of the machine.
Fig. 6 shows schematically the different parts of an installation ensuring the automatic operation of the machine shown in FIG. 5 from extrusion to storage of loaded packages.
In the diagrams of fig. 1 to 4, illustrating the operation of a machine according to the invention, there is briefly shown an extrusion head 1 in the axis of which are disposed two concentric tubes 2-3; the first is fixed and the second can be driven by a reciprocating axial translational movement.
Between the bottom 4 of the extrusion head 1 and the lower end of the tube 2 is delimited an annular die 5. The tube 2 is either in permanent relation with atmospheric air, or in communication with a source of a fluid under pressure. The central tube 3 is in communication with the source or store of the material to be packaged (not shown); it is capable of moving axially, alternately from top to bottom and from bottom to top, according to a duly predetermined amplitude. Under the bottom 4 and at a suitable distance from it is placed a sealing and cutting device represented by the jaws 6-7. Finally, under said sealing jaws, also at a suitable distance, is placed a receptacle 8 containing a refrigeration and support liquid for the packaging in manufacture.
In its essential phases, the operation can therefore, with the aid of these diagrams, be understood as follows: the material constituting the packaging is extruded through the die 5 to form a tubular section 9, the shape and dimensions of which of the straight section are essentially variable. This section is extended over a height H duly determined in proportion to the length of the packaging to be produced and the relative position between the bottom 4 of the extrusion head, the jaws 6-7 and the level of the refrigeration fluid and support in the tank 8.
During this first extrusion phase, a fluid, generally air, is admitted, generally at atmospheric pressure, by suction through the annular space delimited by the two concentric tubes 2-3. During this extrusion operation, the axial tube 3 is in its highest position or else follows, progressively, the downward movement of the bottom of the extruded section 9. The lower part of the section 9 is duly lifted and cooled in the tank 8 by any suitable means, for example by dipping, sprinkling, blowing, spraying, suction or the like, respectively hardened, while the area, in line with the sealing jaws 6-7, still remains relatively hot. The stage shown schematically in FIG. 1.
The axial duct 3 is brought, during the extrusion, gradually, into its lowest position, so that its lower end is immobilized near the bottom of the extruded section 9 (FIG. 2). The material to be packaged is thus brought into said section 9 and loading takes place from the bottom up, said axial tube 3 rising progressively.
As more specifically shown schematically in FIG. 2, during this progressive loading, the fluid, respectively the air contained in the section 9, is discharged through the same annular space delimited by the concentric tubes 2-3.
As shown schematically in fig. 3, which represents the successive phase of operation, the loading is stopped at a level lower than that of the sealing jaws 6-7 and the axial tube 3 is empty of the material it contained, either because the packaged product has been initially metered, or because in said axial tube 3 a suction effect duly adjusted to obtain total emptying without influence on the product contained in the extruded section 9 has been produced.
As shown schematically in fig. 4, it is then sufficient to bring the sealing jaws 6-7 together in order to produce on the corresponding part of the extruded section 9 a cutting effect such that, not only the duly filled packaging 10 thus conditioned is completely closed, but is also separated. of the extruded section 9.
The different phases can thus be repeated continuously and at relatively high speed, obviously in proportion to the applications to be carried out.
In fig. 5, there is partially shown, in vertical section, an embodiment of the machine, object of the invention. There are all the elements mentioned in the description of the operation of the machine and in particular the extrusion head 1, the concentric tubes 2-3, the bottom 4 of the extrusion head, the annular die 5 for the passage of the extruded material, the sealing jaws, respectively cutting, 6-7, and the refrigeration receptacle.
Furthermore, the machine which has just been described can be brought into fully automatic installations, the constituent parts of which must be adapted to each particular application.
In fig. 6, the essential parts of an automatic industrial installation capable of producing, in considerable quantities, and at high speed, a production of packaging capable of containing any product which is obviously neutral with respect to the extrusion material, has been shown diagrammatically. In this installation, we find the embodiment of the machine shown in FIG. 5.
The extrusion head 1 is placed in connection with an extrusion press 11 and the tube 2 is, by a bypass 12, kept in permanent contact with the atmospheric air so as to ensure the entry, respectively the exit. One could, of course, in certain cases, envisage a pressure or a mechanical depression of the air in proportion to the operational phases. The vertically displaceable axial tube 3 with a reciprocating movement is, by a suitable conduit 13, connected to the reservoir, respectively the source, of the product to be packaged, via an electromagnetic valve 14, controlling the admission of the product to be packaged . This valve is controlled by a control relay 15 and a photoelectric cell 16 of adjustable height.
This is arranged opposite an opening 17 made in the refrigerant fluid reservoir 8 at a level which corresponds to that cut by the lower edge of the packaging during the sealing phase, respectively cutting, of the packaging completed, respectively loaded. Said orifice 17 is disposed opposite a second orifice 18 made in the opposite face of said reservoir 8. The orifices 17-18 are covered with a transparent wall, respectively 19-20 and, facing the orifice 18, c 'That is to say in the axis of the photoelectric cell 16, is placed an exciter lamp 21, the height of which will preferably be adjustable at the same time as the height of said photoelectric cell 17.
Into the reservoir 8 opens a conduit 22 capable of placing said reservoir 8 in permanent connection with a means capable of producing, in said reservoir, a circulation of water with a view to maintaining the temperature thereof within predetermined limits. Said reservoir 8 extends into the casing 23 of a scraper conveyor 24. The latter is provided with an outlet duct 25 making it possible to close the aforesaid refrigeration circuit. The conveyor 24 opens upstream of a second conveyor 26, the upper strand of which moves opposite a drying ramp 27, for example an alignment of infrared lamps. The conveyor 26 itself opens upstream of another conveyor 28, the upper strand of which moves opposite a printing machine 29.
Finally, said conveyor 28 is, in turn, arranged upstream of a store 30 or else in the presence of crates, boxes or other suitable packaging of the loaded packaging produced by the installation.
Throughout this, the refrigeration water is kept at the constant level A-A by any means known per se. Automaticity is ensured in a systematic manner, since, when the lower edge of the extruded section reaches the level of the excitation lamp 21, respectively of the photoelectric cell 16, the relay 5 and the electromagnetic valve 14 control the admission of the product to be packaged at the same time as the upward movement of the axial tube 3. Automatically, the extruded section cools, respectively freezes, by immersion in the refrigeration liquid.
The operation develops as explained previously. The loaded package, detached from the extruded section, falls in a dampened fall in the refrigeration liquid, reaches the conveyor 24, is brought into the drying phase during its movement by the conveyor 26, receives an impression during its passage over the conveyor 28 and, thus, it ends the storage, respectively to the packaging.
