Beispiel 1

Process for the production of heavy metal-containing azo dyes The subject of the present patent is a process for the production of heavy metal-containing azo dyes, characterized in that a dicyclically coordinated metalized azo dye, which contains one atom of a coordinatively hexavalent heavy metal bonded to one dye molecule, is in weakly acidic,
A dicyclically coordinated, metallizable azo dye attaches to a neutral or alkaline agent and selects these azo dyes so that the reaction product contains one mono- and one disazo dye complexed on the heavy metal atom.
Under dicyclically coordinated metallized azo dyes one understands metallized azo dyes, which occupy three coordination points on the complex-forming heavy metal atom with the formation of two chelate rings.
If the production of water-soluble textile dyes is intended, the azo dyes are advantageously chosen so that at least one or both each contain at least one sulfonyl substituent which increases the water solubility, and also so that the end product preferably contains no more than one sulfonic acid group .
Azo dyes which can be metallized in a dicyclic coordination are primarily the o, o'-dihydroxy azo dyes, and also the o-carboxy-o'-hydroxy azo dyes. In the preparation of the metal-containing dyes which are used according to the invention and contain a coordinatively hexavalent metal atom for each dye molecule, however, o-hydroxy-azo dyes can also be used,
which in the o'-position contain a substituent which can be exchanged for the hydroxyl group or a substituent which can be converted into the hydroxyl group, for example o-hydroxy-o'-halogen-azo dyes or o-hydroxy-o'-alkoxy-azo dyes. The trivalent chromium comes primarily into consideration as a coordinatively hexavalent heavy metal, but optionally cobalt or nickel as well.
The metal complexes which are used according to the invention and contain one heavy metal atom per dye molecule in a complex bond are obtained by methods known per se, for example by the action of excess chromium salts in aqueous or organic solution at elevated temperature, optionally under pressure and preferably in an acidic medium .
Sulphated, metallisable azo dyes are preferably metallised in aqueous solution, unsulphated metallisable dyes in higher-boiling alcohols, such as ethylene glycol and its monoalkyl esters, at temperatures of 90 to 150.degree.
The sulfonic acid groups can also be split off in sulfated metal complex dyes during or after the complex formation, for example in the chromium complexes of 2- (o'-hydroxy-arylazo) -1-hydroxynaphthalene-4-sulfonic acids. The so-called 1 used for the attachment of the metal-free azo dye, containing one heavy metal per dye molecule:
1-complex of a metallizable azo dye can also contain other ligands on the heavy metal atom, depending on the production method and reaction medium. It can be, for example, aquo, acidic or hydroxy complexes of the metal-containing dye.
The 1: 1 complex can even contain chelated ligands, which can be displaced by the dicyclically chelating second azo dye, as is the case, for example, in the salicylato or tartrato compounds of metal-containing monoazo dyes containing one chromium per dye molecule.
The heavy metal-containing dye used gelan ing is preferably a monoazo dye; however, the use of disazo dyes containing heavy metals is not excluded. The preference of the metal-containing monoazo dyes is solely due to the easier accessibility of their 1: 1 metal complexes.
Monoazo dyes which can be used in the present process are, for example, the coupling products of diazotized o-aminophenols and o-aminonaphthols with acyl acetic acid arylamides, 5-pyrazolones, 2,4-dioxyquinolines, in the o-position to a hydroxyl group coupling benzene and naphthalene compounds,
the coupling products of diazotized o-aminoaryl-carboxylic acids with 5-pyrazolones or benzene and naphthalene compounds coupling in the o-position to a hydroxyl group who use the.
Examples of disazo dyes are those made from diazotized 4- or 5-arylazo-2-amino-1-hydroxylben7ol compounds and 5-pyrazolones and naphtholes or phenols which couple in the o-position to form a hydroxyl group, and the one metallizable azo group having primary disazo dyes with m-dihydroxy
or m-diamino-benzenes or with aminohydroxynaphthalene compounds as coupling components, and also the disazo dyes obtainable from diazo-tated 4-arylazo-2-alkoxy-1-amino-naphthalene compounds and azo components coupling a hydroxyl group. However, the possibilities for variation are only hinted at, and these examples are not of any limiting importance.
In the mono- and disazo dyes mentioned, the aromatic rings can contain the substituents customary in azo dyes, for example halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, nitro, acylamino, carboxyl, sulfonic acid, sulfonic acid amide, alkylsulfonyl, Aiylsul- fonyl-,
Acyl substituents. For water-soluble textile dyes, the presence of a water-solubility-increasing sulfonyl substituent in at least one of the two azo dyes coordinated to the heavy metal is particularly advantageous.
Such sulfonyl substituents which increase the water solubility are, for example, the lower alkylsulfonyl groups and in particular the methylsulfonyl group, the sulfamide groups derived from ammonia or lower aliphatic primary or secondary amines, the sulfonic acid phenylamide groups, the lower alkyl sulfonic acid amide groups and finally even the sulfonic acid groups.
While the first-mentioned, non-acidic dissociating sulfonyl substituents can occur in the two dyes coordinated to the metal, and possibly more than once, it is advantageous if the present invention is prepared from the coordinated monoazo dye, the coordinated disazo dye and the heavy metal There is only one sulfonic acid group present in the dye molecule. This can, for example, be in the mono or disazo dye.
If appropriate, carboxyl groups which are not involved in the complex formation can also be present in the mono- or disazo dye as substituents which increase the solubility in water.
The addition of the metal-free to the metal-containing azo dye is done with only partially water-soluble components, preferably in aqueous solution at medium temperatures of for example 40 to 95 C in the presence of mineral acid dulling or alkaline agents, for example in the presence of sodium acetate, sodium trium carbonate, sodium hydroxide or
in the presence of appropriate lithium, potassium or ammonium compounds. You can also work in aqueous or anhydrous, lower alcohols, such as ethyl alcohol, ethylene glycol, ethylene glycol monomethyl, mono-ethyl or monobutyl ether. The installation of the metal-free azo dye occurs relatively quickly and completely under favorable conditions.
The so-called mixed metallization, i.e. the metallization of a mixture consisting of a metallizable mono- and a metallizable disazo dye with heavy metal-releasing agents, because in all probability a so-called 1: 1 metal complex is formed first, which for example also includes colorless ligands, such as salicylic acid, which combines with other metal-free dye to form the 2: 1 complex, also leads to good metal-containing dyes.
The new metal-containing dyes can be obtained from aqueous solution by salting out and from alcoholic solution by precipitation with water or by distilling off the organic solvents. The fiction, contemporary process allows the production of deep brown to black metal-containing dyes; such shades have hitherto been difficult to obtain on the basis of monoazo dyes.
It is of particular advantage that sulfonated heavy metal-containing textile dyes can also be produced, which are characterized by good neutral drawability on wool, very good wet fastness of the wool dyeings, interesting deep shades and relatively very good light fastness.
The new water-soluble dyes, which contain the water solubility-promoting sulfonyl substituents of the type described above, are not only suitable for dyeing wool from weakly alkaline, neutral to weakly acidic bath in deep shades, but also for dyeing leather, for dyeing Furs, for dyeing casein, super polyamide and super polyurethane fibers or for dyeing paper. They can also be used for dyeing paints and cellulose pulps; The new unsulfated, metal-containing dyes are particularly favorable in this use.
In the following examples, unless expressly stated otherwise, the parts are parts by weight, and the temperatures are given in degrees Celsius. Parts by weight relate to parts by volume as the kilogram is to the liter. Example 1

10 parts of 2N sodium hydroxide solution and 4.83 parts of the disazo dye from dianotized 3-amino-4-hydroxy-azobenzene-4'-sulfonic acid dimethylamide and 2-hydroxy-naphthalene are added to 150 parts of water. The complex chromium compound of type 1 Cr is also given:
1 dye to which 0.52 parts of chromium and 4.39 parts of the dye from nitrated 1-diazo-2-hydroxy-naphthalene-4-sulfonic acid - # - corresponds to 2-hydroxy-naphthalene.
It is heated to the boil for 21/2 hours and evaporated to dryness. The dye is a black powder; it dyes wool in black tones with good light and wet fastness. Example 2
EMI0003.0017
10 parts of 2N sodium hydroxide solution and 4.26 parts of the disazo dye from dianotated 2-methyl-4-amino-5-hydroxy-azobenzene-3'-carboxylic acid and 2-hydroxy-naphthalene are added to 100 parts of methyl cellosolve. The complex chromium compound of type 1 Cr is passed on:
1 dye, which corresponds to 0.52 parts of chromium and 3.72 parts of the dye from dianotized 2-amino-1-hydroxy-benzene-4-methylsulfone-> 1-phenyl-3-methyl-5-pyrazolone. It is heated until the starting substances have disappeared. It is then diluted with water, the dye is separated off by adding hydrochloric acid, filtered off and dried. The dye is a brown-black powder. It dyes wool in brown tones.
Example 3
EMI0004.0001
In 200 parts of water, 3.68 parts of the dianotized 3-amino-4-hydroxy- l, V-azobenzene and 2-hydroxy-naphthalene and the complex chromium compound of the monoazo dye from dianotated 6-nitro-l-amino- 2-hydroxy-naphthalin-4-sulfonic acid and 2-hydroxy-naphthalene, which contains 1 chromium atom per dye molecule and corresponds to 0.52 parts of Cr, slurried,
with 20 volume parts 2-n. Added sodium hydroxide solution and heated to 90-95 for 2 hours. Then the resulting reaction product is precipitated by adding sodium chloride, filtered and dried. The result is a dark, water-soluble powder which dyes wool, synthetic polyamide fibers and silk from neutral or weakly acidic bath in black shades of good lightfastness. The dye is also suitable for dyeing leather.
Example 4 4.9 parts of the disazo dye, obtained by coupling dianotated 3-hydroxy-4-amino-6-methyl-4'-chloro-1,1'-azobenzene-3'- sulfonic acid with 2-hydroxy-naphthalene, with 2.87 parts of the monoazo dye, obtained by coupling dianotized 4-nitro-2-amino-1-hydroxybenzene, with 3,4-dimethyl-1- hydroxy-benzene, suspended in 250 parts of water,
heated to 80 and treated with 30 parts of a solution of sodium salicylatochromate which contains 26 g of Cr per liter. Then it is heated to boiling for about 50 hours, poured to 500 parts by volume of a 20 per cent. Saline solution, filtered off the precipitated dye at 60 and washed with 5 percent. Saline solution. After drying, the dye presents a black powder that dyes wool from a weakly acidic bath in black, lightfast shades.

EMI0004.0042
47.6 parts of the disazo dye 1-amino-benzene-3-sulfonic acid 2-methoxy-5-methyl-1-amino-benzene -> 2-hydroxy-naphthalene are used in 200 Parts by volume of formamide and 42 parts by volume of glycol monomethyl ether are stirred, mixed with 4 parts of glacial acetic acid and 36 parts of chromium acetate (corresponding to 7.8 parts of Cr)
and heated to 130-135 for 41/2 hours. The result is a deep green-blue solution, which at 50-60 is reduced to a mixture of 850 parts by volume 20%. Saline solution and 85 parts by volume 10-n. Pour hydrochloric acid. The chromium-containing dye precipitates in the process. He is filtered off and with about 800 parts by volume 20 per cent. Washed out saline solution.
The moist, chromium-containing color paste is then slurried in 3600 parts of water with 29.6 parts of the monoazo dye from dianotized 4-nitro-2-amino-1-hydroxy-benzene and 2-hydroxy-naphthalene, with 30 parts by volume of 10- n. Sodium hydroxide ver sets and heated to boiling for 6 hours. Since after hot, sodium chloride is added and the dye is filtered off. After drying, he presents a gray-black powder that dyes wool from an acetic acid bath in greenish black tones.
The dyes listed in the table below can be represented in an analogous manner. Column I therein contains the azo dye, which is used in the form of its complex chromium compound of type 1 chromium atom per dye molecule, while column II contains the chromium-free azo dye used for addition.
