Demountable craft It has already been proposed to produce removable craft, fitted with rigid pneumatic floats, or flexible inflatable pneumatic floats trapped in a sort of rigid cage which can be opened to release the float. The volume occupied by these boats once dismantled is such that they cannot be conveniently transported on the luggage carrier of a motor vehicle, for example.
Inflatable pneumatic boats are also known, capable of forming a hull at least partially surrounding a cabin on which passengers can stand, used in particular as life-saving devices. These boats can receive propellants, such as an outboard type motor, or a car. But the actual sailing is impossible because of the lack of rigidity of the assembly and the weakness of the mast attachments, which means that in practice one can only progress with a tail wind.
Finally, we know that, in order to allow the sailing of light skiffs such as canoes, kayaks or perishables, it is necessary to use generally removable drifts arranged symmetrically on either side of the axial vertical plane of the boat.
The object of the present invention is to create a dismountable craft which is capable of being able to see, when it is dismantled, be accommodated in a reduced space and transported on the luggage rack of a passenger motor car, for example, and which is however capable, once mounted, of being able to allow navigation on the high seas, with sail as with motor, as well as in river, in full safety even in heavy weather, this boat having moreover, compared to the boats with pneumatic floats of the known type, the advantage of allowing navigation as close as possible, by pulling broadsides.
The dismountable boat with inflatable pneumatic floats according to the invention, comprising at least two longitudinal floats arranged symmetrically with respect to its axial vertical plane, a rigid structure bracing said floats and supporting a passenger compartment, propulsion and steering means, and at least one keel, is characterized in that it comprises under each of said floats a drift and grounding keel removably fixed by means of securing the fixing of said structure on said pneumatic floats .
Two embodiments of the craft forming the subject of the invention are shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawing in which FIG. 1 is a side elevational view of a first embodiment.
Fig. 2 is a plan view, sectioned through 11-I1, of FIG. 1.
Fig. 5 is a sectional view through III-III of FIG. 1, a means of fixing the structure and the keel on a float.
Fig. 4 is a partial sectional view through IV-IV of FIG. 1.
Fig. 5 is a schematic view in elevation and partial section of a second embodiment of the boat, end seen from the rear. Fig. 6 is a view in partial longitudinal section shortened along VI-VI of FIG. 5.
Fig. 6a is a detail view in section through VIa-VIa of FIG. 6, showing a flat tubular element for protecting the lower envelopes, and FIG. 7 is a schematic elevational view of one embodiment of the assembly of the boat on land carrying means fixed to the keel.
Referring to the drawing, Figs. 1 to 4 illustrate an embodiment of a demon table boat with inflatable pneumatic floats comprising, on either side of the axial plane A -A of the vessel, a longitudinal float arranged symmetrically cally relative to each other, the two floats being braced by a rigid structure supporting a passenger compartment and means of propulsion and steering.
The floats each consist of two envelopes 1 lower and 2 upper, made of an airtight material, intended to be able to be inflated and deflated for the assembly and dismantling of the boat. Each envelope is provided with annular projections 3 delimiting the housings of the tines to laterally imprison collars 4 constituting the removable fixing means of the structure and of the daggerboard and stranding keel 5.
The anterior ends 6a, 6b and posterior 7a, 7b of each envelope are solid and pierced with openings 8 intended to allow the passage of assembly ganes 9, formed by bolts allowing the fixing protective metal bows lOa-10b. These bows lOa-10b are formed by a part 11a-11b in the form of a shoe comprising a housing intended to receive the solid ends 6a-6b and 7a-7b of the envelopes which are held there bare by a clamping plate 12a-12b.
The shoes also include a housing 13 in the form of a socket intended to receive an inter-rod 14, the ends of which include a means for fixing to the socket 13, and whose role is to keep the end parts of the envelopes 1 and 2 substantially parallel. A socket 15 is also provided on the front shoes 10a with a view to receiving a spacer 16 intended to fix the position of the bow relative to the structure of the passenger compartment, with a view to transferring the shocks due to the contact onto the latter. with floaters.
Between the collars 4 are arranged transverse 17 and oblique 18 spacers ensuring the rigidity of the structure.
Each float has at least two collars 4 so as to allow suitable triangulation of the structure by means of the spacers.
Between the collars 4 are also arranged longitudinal struts 19 (fig. 1) intended to keep the collars of the same float in parallel planes, while the stranding and centreboard keels 5 also serve as spacers for the float. obtaining this result. Fig. 3 shows, in section, the constitution of a collar comprising two openings 20, intended to receive the casing 1, and 21 intended to receive the casing 2, which, when inflated, come into close contact with the body 22 of the collar .
Each collar further comprises, at its upper part, a tubular housing 23 intended to receive the end of the upper transverse spacer 17a, and substantially at its middle part a tubular housing 24 intended to receive the end of the 'lower cross spacer 17b. Above the housing 23 and orthogonally with respect to the axis of the latter, is provided an outlet housing 25 intended to receive the longitudinal spacer 19. Finally, at the lower part of the collar are provided projections 26 forming a yoke intended. to receive the upper end of the grounding and centreboard keel 5.
All these housings are provided with at least one transverse cutout 27, intended to allow the fixing of the spacers or of the keel by a removable fastening means 28 consisting either of a bolt and a nut, or of a pin, key or similar.
The collar also comprises (see fig. 2) tubular housings 29, the axis of which is inclined on the mean plane of the body 22 of the collar, intended to receive the ends of the diagonal spacers 18, placed in a Saint-André cross, of in such a way that they define a substantially flat surface on which the platform 34 can rest. The diagonal spacers 18 are in two parts and joined by a median sleeve 30 in the form of a quadruple sleeve pierced with cutouts 31 in the which can be inserted fixing means of the spacers 18.
Longitudinal fittings 32, in the form of a U, are fixed by their ends to the body 22 of the collars 4 furthest from the same float, by means of fixing means such as bolts 33. These fittings 32 are intended for serve as longitudinal slides at the ends of wooden slats 34 constituting the floor of the platform used as a passenger compartment. Finally, the collar 4 comprises side sheet metal plates 36 constituting a housing forming a slide in which can be introduced a table board (not shown) of the tine to be arranged vertically and transversely, in order to serve as a slat guard. for the interior.
Fig. 4 shows a partial current section of the boat to the right of IV-IV of fig. 1: the floor 34 is suspended above the water surface materialized by the dashed line BB, the passenger compartment being bordered by the upper casings 2 and by the longitudinal spacer 19 which serves as a support bar .
The use of a plurality of envelopes to constitute a float is preferable because of the increased safety which results therefrom, which makes it possible to ensure the stability of the boat even if one of the envelopes shows failures, and also from the fact that a single envelope used for the actual flotation, the envelope or the emergency envelopes constitute a light and efficient plating.
In fig. 2 shows the transverse spacers 17 provided with means allowing the attachment of propulsion or rudder means. The front transverse struts 17 comprise a part 37 in the form of a collar intended to allow the fixing of a mast to which a wing can be attached. One of these spacers 17 also comprises a housing 38 with a double sleeve 15a intended to receive the end of the spacers 16 for bracing the bow. The posterior transverse struts 17 similarly comprise tie collars 49 for fixing the stock of a rudder 40.
Finally, an attachment means 41 consisting of rings and provided on the spacers 14 allows the attachment of guy lines or drains when using a mast fixed in the collars 37.
The boat described thus has considerable stability due in particular to the presence of the drifting and grounding keels in the axial plane of the floats. It allows sailing not only downwind but also close-hauled, in rivers and at sea, unlike the inflatable boats known to date.
However, navigation in heavy weather, with strong winds and strong swells, may require modifying the ballast of the boat.
In fig. 5 and 6 is shown another embodiment making it possible in particular to use the em barcation for making long journeys at sea or in river, even in heavy weather.
In fig. 5, the boat shown comprises two longitudinal envelopes 51a, 51b intended to ensure the flotation along a line illustrated in phantom 52, for example, and two envelopes 53a-53b for planking, intended to cooperate, with transom boards 54 inserted between the rear transverse braces 55 upper and 56 lower, at the edge of the passenger compartment above the floor supported by the floor support spacer 57.
The fixing means consist of a tube 58, provided at its upper part with two yokes 59 intended to receive the end 60 of a bipod mast, which is secured thereto by means of a removable pin 61. Below this part forming an articulation is disposed an air exhaust valve 62, for the purposes explained below.
The lower part 63 of the tube is constricted and pierced with openings 64 capable of allowing air to pass. The lower end of the part 63 is female threaded in order to form a nut for a locking screw 65 acting on a sealing washer 65a. On the tube 58 are threaded sleeves 66-67 intended for fixing the longitudinal and transverse spacers as well as a keel 68 and cradles 69 and 70. The keel and the cradles extend at least between the two tubular rods 58 of the same float and participate effectively in the stiffening of the boat.
The lower floats 51 are surrounded peripherally, on the one hand, at their base by the upper part of the keel and, on the other hand, at their top by the cradle 69 which distributes the weight of the boat and the load on the envelope. The cradle 70 receives the casing 53 and ensures the protection of the passenger compartment against spurts of water.
The tubular rod 58 is arranged so that, on assembly, the screw 65 comes to compress a tight seal 71 interposed between the keel and the frame so that the air contained in the enclosure 72 of the hollow keel provided with water inlets 73 can only escape through valve 62.
So that, when we want to ballast the boat, in particular when sailing and that the hollow of the blades is important, it suffices to open the valve 62 so that the water penetrates through the passages. 73 inside the enclosure 72 of the hollow keel 68, and expels therefrom the air which flows back into the hollow rod through the tube 74 running in the vicinity of the upper part of the enclosure. The air opens towards the openings 64 of the tubular rod 58 below the seal 71.
In fig. 5 is also shown a device for adjusting the position of the thruster (not illustrated) which comprises two rods 75 articulated at one end relative to the tables 54 by a pin 76, and assembled at the other end by a pin 77. This axis 77 is integral with a plate 78 intended to receive the thruster, extended by two levers 79 provided with means for controlling and stopping the position of the axis 77, for example racks. In fig. 5 is also shown a screw 80 rotatably mounted relative to the plate 77, which it controls the approach or removal with respect to the pivoting bearing 81 integral with the upper spacer 55.
In fig. 5 there is also shown a bipod mast 82, comprising tubular elements extending from each other, assembled by sleeve, arranged so as to tension a median cable 83 intended to receive the sail in a known manner. The cable can serve at the same time as a median hau ban making it possible to immobilize the mast, when said cable is tensioned by a counter-shroud which can be constituted by a jib draille, for example.
At the upper part of the bipod mast 62 is shown a spacer 84 intended to prevent the mast from buckling and possibly to receive a jib drain. For a fairly long mast, several suitable spacers 84 will be used.
In fig. 5 is also shown in phantom lines the use of a yard 91 provided with two collars 92a-92b intended to ensure the sliding thereof on the cable 83, in order to constitute a telescopic element allowing, for a bipod mast height 82 given, the realization of a composite mast of significantly greater length, and ensuring a larger sail area.
In fig. 6 is shown a longitudinal section through VI-VI of FIG. 5 on which are shown, in addition to the various elements such as cradles 69 and 70, and keel 68 mentioned above, flattened tubular elements 85 intended to protect the lower envelopes 51 over the entire part of their apparent contour in the vertical plane s' extending between the floor support bar 57 and the keel 68. The flattened tubular elements are fixed to each other and at their end by pins or other removable attachment means 86.
The arrangement of a rudder 87 is also shown schematically in FIG. 6. The rudder wick 87a may also be placed inside the tubular rod 58.
Fig. 7 schematically shows the keel 86 comprising pins 89 intended to allow the adaptation of pads 90 on the underside of the boat, in order to allow the latter to slide on the ground. Wheels could as well be fixed to the axles 89, so that the craft can roll on the ground.
