Control member The object of the present invention is a control member for a mechanism housed in a housing, this control member comprising a body intended to be fixed to said housing, in an opening thereof, and a pusher axially movable in this body, between a resting position and an active position.
Controllers of this type are used, inter alia, in watches, to control the functions of special mechanisms or devices, such as chronograph, alarm or calendar mechanisms or lighting devices with an electric lamp. In most cases, the push button of these control members is intended to operate a mechanical release, which takes place at the same time when the push button arrives in the active position. It is therefore irrelevant whether the pusher remains in its active position for a certain time or immediately returns to its rest position.
There are however cases where the function controlled by such a member requires a continuous action of the pusher on the mechanism located inside the case. Such an example is given by the luminous watch described in Swiss patent Na 331586, where the push button of the control member is intended to open or close the circuit of an electric bulb depending on whether it is at rest or in the active position. . However, in all these known cases, it is necessary to keep a finger on the push-button for as long as one wishes to maintain the desired function.
The object of the present invention is to create a control member whose pusher can be locked in the active position so as to remain there as long as desired, without it being necessary to keep a finger on it, this locking being able to be insured or canceled, following very simple ordering operations.
An embodiment of the control member according to the present invention is shown, by way of example, in the accompanying drawing, in which FIG. 1 is a diametral section thereof; the trust. 2 is an elevational view thereof with part cut away, and FIG. 3 is a plan view.
The control member shown in the drawing comprises a body formed of a sleeve 1 intended to be fixed to a housing (not shown), in an opening which passes through the wall thereof, as well as a pusher formed of a rod 2 and a control button 6. The rod 2, coaxial with the sleeve 1, is movable relative to the latter. This rod 2 passes through an opening 3. made in the bottom 4 of the sleeve 1. The opening 3 and the rod 2 are circular so that this rod can rotate relative to the sleeve 1. The movements of the pusher towards the 'outside the housing, that is to say upwards in the drawing, are limited by a head' 5, manufactured with the rod 2, which abuts under the bottom 4 of the socket 1. The button 6, outside the housing, is attached to the rod 2.
It is hollowed out so as to present an outer wall 7 which surrounds the part of the sleeve 1 which comes out of the housing. This button 6 carries a pin 8, which extends radially relative to the axis of the rod 2 and which is planted in the wall 7 of the button 6. This pin 8 protrudes inside the wall 7, and it is engaged in an L-shaped cutout 9, made in the upper, open part of the sleeve 1.

The pusher of the described control member is normally maintained in the position shown in FIG. 1 by a return spring 10, which is supported in the bottom of the hollowed part of the button 6 and which simultaneously compresses a seal 11, on which it acts at its other end, by means of a washer 12.
As seen in fi-. 2. the pin 8 and the cutout 9 constitute the elements of a bayonet coupling device. When the button 6 is actuated downwards, in order to operate a control inside said housing, the pin 8 moves to the bottom of the vertical branch of the cutout 9, thus limiting the axial movement of the button 6. The pusher is then in the active position. To lock it in this position, against the action of the spring 10, and to avoid having to keep a finger on the button 6, it suffices to turn the latter in the socket 1, so as to engage the pin 8 in the branch horizontal cutout 9.
To release the pusher from its active position (shown in phantom in fig. 2) and let it return to the rest position, all you have to do is turn button 6 in the opposite direction, which releases pin 8 from the horizontal branch. of the cutout 9, after which the spring 10 brings the pusher back to the rest position without further action.
To facilitate the rotational movements of the pusher, the upper face of the button 6 has radial projections 13 formed by depressions 14 deep enough for this button to turn in one direction or the other, when actuated from the end of 'a finger.
Instead of ensuring the locking of the pusher using the elements 8 and 9 shown in the drawing, it could also be ensured by making, for example, a thread and a corresponding tapping on the fixed and mobile parts of the member. control, this thread and this internal thread being remote from one another when the pusher is in the rest position, and coming into engagement with one another when the pusher is brought into the active position.
One could also ensure the locking of the pusher in the active position as follows. The body of the control member could have an internal rim with a shaped opening for the passage of the pusher, the latter having a shaped part corresponding to that of said opening, this shaped part being engaged in said opening when the pusher is at rest, and being located under said rim when the pusher is in the active position. If the opening of said flange and if said part of the rod are square, a quarter-turn rotation of the pusher in the active position brings the corners of the square of the rod under the sides of the square of the opening, which ensures locking.
The latter would be obtained in the same way with an elongated opening and a flat part of the rod, which would be wider than its adjacent parts. Instead of using a pusher which first moves axially from its rest position to its active position, then angularly to be locked in this last position, one could obviously also use a pusher carrying threads engaged in a tapping or a corresponding thread of the body of the control member, the passage from the rest position to the active position being effected by simple rotation of the movable part of the control member, which would then move automatically in the axial direction.
An additional sealing gasket, made of a very compressible material, could be placed in the bottom of the pushbutton, so as to establish a tight seal with the upper edge of the sleeve forming the body of the control member, as well when the pusher is at rest only in the active position. Such a lining is very particularly effective in the case where the pusher carries threads engaged in corresponding threads of the body of the control member, since the difference between these axial positions at rest and in action of the pusher can be made very small. , which avoids large deformations of said additional lining, which can then be made of small dimensions, so as not to cause an excessive increase in those of the entire control member.
