Ball joint, in particular for steering and control linkages of motor vehicles The invention relates to a ball. -lenk, especially for steering and control rods of motor vehicles, in which the ball head of a pin rests in a hollow spherical surface of the joint housing,
which on the side facing away from the step of the ball stud has a locking cover in which a cube-shaped spring is intended to push the ball head from the locking side into the seat formed by the hollow spherical surface, with the transmission of the Spring force on the ball head via a to adapt to the liugelli:
opf curved plate with R.and- flanseh for the attack of the spring takes place.
The invention primarily aims to create a ball joint of reduced height, with a wear and friction-reducing design of the ball joint mö (Ylieh is. And any necessary elasticity in the joint, for example to catch vertical shocks, can be maintained.
In the known embodiments of ball joints of the aforementioned type, a reduction in the overall height is not possible, provided that a simple form of the Ge joint is to be preserved. The known joints also lack a maintenance-free embodiment combined with wear resistance and great sliding ability. Likewise, the ball head does not rest in its seat in such a way that its bearing surfaces remain in contact with the ball head in the direction of the axis of the ball stud in case of loading, in both directions of this axis.
According to the invention, the spring, which has the shape of a truncated cone, extends over the curvature of the plate. Kende height and the housing cover engages the spring with a curved part, but is otherwise flat, the curved cover part from the plate a distance corresponding to the thickness of the spring wire and the edge flange has a width corresponding to the thickness of the spring wire.
In this way, a joint is created in which the joint housing does not need to have a greater height than it corresponds to the size of the ball head, and can even have a lower height if the plate and the closure cover are otherwise necessary to take on the spring Replace the housing part partially lying in the housing. A reduced cost of materials for the joint housing results. also a cheaper joint.
On the inner edge of the closure side, the housing can be provided with a recessed inclined recess for the attachment of the Uiu catching edge of the cover. In this case, the protrusion of the housing wall can be folded over the offset for fixing the cover on its outside.
A rubber-elastic means is advantageously provided between the plate and the ball head. The rubber-elastic agent can have properties which increase the lubricity and reduce wear. It absorbs shocks and vibrations in the axial direction of the pivot pin having the ball head.
A plate covering can serve as a means arranged between the ball head and the plate.
At least one of the contact surfaces of the joint parts moving against one another is expediently made of a plastic with high wear resistance and good sliding properties.
As a means arranged between the ball head and the Tel ler preferably body made of plastic come into question, the ver wear-reducing and the slip increasing additives contain increasing. These are, for example, plastics based on polycondensation or polyaddition products such as polyamides and superpolyamides.
Polycondensation products of adipic acid and hexamethylene diamine, polyurethane and glycol polyesters reacted with diisocyanates, primarily naphthylene diisocyanates.
Such plastics can also be used for other parts of the ball joint, in particular those that move against one another.
In the case of the joint, the use of plastics of different types or properties in cooperation with one another can also come into question. For example, a surface through a body made of highly elastic plastic can interact with a surface of a body made of less or inelastic plastic. It is also possible to combine the plastics with one another, for example by bringing a plastic layer together with another plastic layer. It is to see inö-f-ylich, z.
B. the insert body for the formation of the ball seat from an inelastic plastic, while the running surface of this body through a layer. is made of elastic plastic. Such combinations are also with. Insert bodies made of fabric possible, whereby the fabric can have a plastic penetration. An adhesive can be used as a means for assembling different layers. When the plastic is inserted into a steel part of the joint or when a support is formed by the plastic, a union with the steel part or non-ferrous metal can be effected by gluing.
Depressions or bores into which the plastic penetrates can also serve to hold the plastic in place, it being possible for glue to be made in addition.
Compared to polyamides, polyurethanes have the advantage of less water swelling, while the plastic based on glycol polyester reacted with diisocyanates, which is preferred in most cases, has the advantage of great elasticity and, in particular, the advantage that is so important for ball joints owns there
ss he swallows dust and fine sand to a certain extent, so that such impurities that penetrate the joint in small quantities in spite of the provided seals cannot lead to grinding out or the formation of grooves or ridges. The water swellability of these plastics is to be regarded as zero in practice and is also due to the good elastic properties. of the plastic balanced. Such compensatory properties can also be used when combining different types of plastic with one another or with. Tissue bodies be of importance.
The plastic based on glycol polyester reacted with diisocyanates also has the advantage that it can have a pore or foam structure, whereby the lubricant problem can be solved particularly favorably, since this plastic can be impregnated with a lubricant.
In the case of plastics processed into joint parts using the injection molding process, these parts advantageously have the same thickness at every point, as this results in a uniform structure.
The drawing illustrates various exemplary embodiments of the invention in section.
The housing of the ball joint is denoted by 1, while the ball head of the ball pin 2 has the reference number 3.
According to Fig. 1, the seat of the ball head in the housing is formed on the side facing the outlet opening 4 of the ball stud from the housing directly through the housing. The ball head is under the We effect of a coil spring 5, which the shape. has a truncated cone and is curved in. Its surface line of the curvature of the spherical head. Between the spring 5 and the ball head, a plate 6 is provided which has a curvature adapted to the rounding of the ball head and an edge flange 7 for the spring to rest on. exhibits him. The width of the edge flange 7 corresponds approximately to the thickness of the selected spring wire.
With. the edge flange leads see the plate in a zy lindrisehen part 8 of the joint housing. A locking lid 9 is provided as the housing closure, the edge zone 10 of which is curved corresponding to the curvature of the plate 6 or the curvature of the spherical head. The middle part of the lid is flat. In the housing opening, a sloping setting 11 is recessed for placing the peripheral edge of the closure cover in front of. The protrusion 1.2 of the housing wall over the sloping shoulder is folded over onto the outside of the sheet metal closure cover.
A rubber-elastic sleeve 13, which is made of rubber or a plastic and rests against the outer surface of the housing on the one hand and on the ball pin on the other, serves as a seal for the outlet opening of the ball stud 2 from the housing. According to FIG. 2, the ball seat is formed on the side facing the outlet opening 4 of the joint housing by a shell-shaped insert body 14. This insert body is fixed in the housing by protruding lugs 15, which are evenly distributed over the circumference inside the housing. The insert body can consist of steel or a plastic, plastics with elastic properties and so-called sucking ability being advantageous.
It is also possible to form the insert body from a fabric which is interspersed with plastic: the plastic can contain additives to increase the sliding properties and reduce wear.
The embodiment according to FIG. 3 shows the equipment of the plate 6 with a covering 16 made of a plastic, a plastic with highly elastic properties likewise being advantageous. It is a plastic based on this. glycol-polyester reacted with diisocyanates.
In the right half of FIG. 3, the diameter of the ball head is somewhat offset on the side facing the housing closure. In this case, the surface has a somewhat greater thickness. 3 also shows the formation of the lower ball seat by an insert body 17 made of a plastic with elastic properties. The insert body 17 has an approach in the form of the outlet opening 4 of the ball stud 2 from the housing durchgrei fenden grommet, which see against the neck of the ball stud. The grommet 18 can have a greater elasticity than the part of the insert body 17 carrying the ball head.
The embodiment of FIG. 4 essentially corresponds to the Ausführungsbei game of FIG. 3. Only the insert body 17 with the spout 18 in the left half of FIG. 4 has a slightly different shape than in FIG. In the right half of FIG. 4, the insert body 1.9 does not have a spout-like attachment. It can consist of a plastic. Its formation from tissue is also possible with the aforementioned enforcement.
The insert body is fixed according to Fig. -1 both in the right and in the left half by lugs 15 according to Fig. ″.
Fig. 5 shows an exemplary embodiment in which the ball head 3 is provided with a casing 20 made of plastic. The plastic used for this exemplary embodiment is preferably an elastic plastic, such as a plastic based on glycol polyester reacted with diisocyanates. The envelope is extended to form a spout 21 which rests on the neck 22 of the ball stud 2. A second spout 23 is. with a rounded edge 24 inserted into the outlet opening 4 of the housing. and lies against the spout 21. The free edge 25 of the spout 21 is rounded outward. folded over and takes up the free edge of the spout 23. The free edge of the grommet 23 is expediently reinforced.
From Fig. 6 a ball joint is recognizable, in which the ball head 3 is on the side facing the housing closure in its height to a spherical section is abge. Between the spherical section and the plate 6 a Zwisehenstüek 27 made of a plastic is provided, the inter mediate piece 27 is useful gaimmielastiseh. The Zwischenstfick has on its side facing the spherical section a standing middle part 28 which engages in a corresponding recess on the settling surface 29. The settling surface of the ball head has a slightly conical shape.
In the intermediate piece, a central recess 30 is provided on the side facing the plate 6. Further recesses 31 are IN ANY on the contact surfaces of the intermediate piece. The ball seat 32 is made of plastic, which can have elastic properties. It is also possible to form the ball seat 32 from steel. If the ball seat is not made of elastic plastic, the part lying above the plane through the center point of the ball head transversely to the axis of the ball stud is reduced to a smaller diameter. The ball seat can have a cylindrical shape on the outside.
The elastic grommet 18 forms in the exemplary embodiment from. 6 shows an additional part, the edge 33 of which is located in the C-housing opening and lies in a flange-like manner between the insert body forming the spherical seat and the housing shoulder serving as Aufset.zfläelie for the insert body.
The Ausführungsbei shown in Fig. 7 game. corresponds to your embodiment iiaeli Fig. 6. me in the left half of the ball seat is formed directly by the housing 1 and in this half a Diehtungs- inanschette .1 is provided, while in the right half of the ball seat is formed by a shell-like insert body 31 and a Grommet 1.8 is provided.,
which is fixed by the insert body 31 in the housing opening.
According to Fig. 8 is. while maintaining the embodiment; -emäss Fig. 7 left half in the right half of the ball head still provided with a sheath 35 made of a synthetic material, which advantageously has elastic properties. After the left half of Fig. 8 is. A set body made of plastic is provided as a Kulelsitz.
As can be seen in FIG. 9, the ball seat consists of a rubber-elastic insert body -10, which is divided into an upper and lower part by a horizontal racing foot and can consist of a plastic. The insert body reads both above half of the plane placed transversely to the axis of the ball stud through the center of the ball head and below this level on the ball head. Between the contact surfaces and the.
