Description
Ball joint, in particular for steering and control linkages of motor vehicles The invention relates to a ball joint, in particular for steering and control linkages of motor vehicles, in which the ball head of a pin rests in a hollow spherical surface in the joint housing, which is formed by shell-shaped bodies inserted into the joint housing is, of which one is seen on the side of the exit of the ball stud from the housing and the other on the side facing away from this, closed housing side.
A certain elasticity is often desirable in these ball joints. The pursuit of an elasticity can relate to both the axial direction of the pivot pin and the transverse direction.
By the invention, such a ball joint is to be created ity with easily effected Elastizi.
For this purpose, according to the invention, the insert bodies are made of elastic plastic, and the elasticity of at least one of the insert bodies is increased by a surface design deviating from the smooth shape for the purpose of creating flow space for the rubber elastic plastic.
The design deviating from the smooth surface shape can consist in that the surface of the insert body lying against the housing cover is undulating.
Another possibility, which can also be used in addition, is that the surfaces of the insert bodies which bear against the housing wall inside the housing are provided with the flowability of the latter and thus their elastic properties.
It is possible that at least one of the insert bodies is recessed on its outer circumference, a helical spring being accommodated in the recess.
In the inventive design of the ball and socket joint, it is possible to dispense with the tension spring otherwise required under the housing cover when the cover acts directly on an insert body on the ball head side facing it.
The drawing illustrates various exemplary embodiments of the invention.
Fig. 1 reveals a ball joint in section, in which the peripheral surfaces of the shell-shaped insert body are provided with recesses and the surface of the insert body located on this side facing the cover of the joint housing is corrugated.
2 shows the insert body lying on the closure side of the joint housing, drawn out in side view.
FIG. 3 is a plan view of the insert body according to FIG.
4 illustrates an embodiment in which the circumferential recesses of the Einsatzkör are formed by incisions.
Fig. 5 shows a section of a ball and socket joint, in which a helical spring is seen in front of the insert body lying on the locking side of the joint housing on the left in the circumferential recess.
The ball joint consists of the joint housing 1 and the joint pin 2, the ball head 3 of which is mounted in the hollow spherical surface of the cup-shaped body 42. The insert bodies are made of elastic plastic.
Such plastics, which can also contain additives that reduce wear and increase lubricity, are, for example, plastics based on polycondensation or polyaddition products, such as polyamides and superpolyamides, polycondensation products of adipic acid and hexamethylenediamine, polyurethane or with diisocyanates, primarily naphthylene diisocyanates,
converted glycol polyester. Of course, other rubber-elastic materials can also be used. To increase the elasticity given by the insert body 42, recesses are provided in the outer surfaces of the insert bodies in all exemplary embodiments, with which they lean against the inner wall of the joint housing.
In the embodiment of FIG. 1, the recesses are in the form of circumferential grooves 45, while in the embodiment of FIG. 4, notches 46 are provided as recesses.
In addition, in the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 1, the surface of the insert body 42 on the closure side which lies against the housing cover 43 is corrugated. The corrugation is denoted by 44 in FIGS. 1 to 3.
In the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 5, the insert body 42 facing the housing cover is provided with an outer circumferential recess 47. In the left half of Fig. 5 it is illustrated how the recess 47 is used to receive a coil spring 48. The insert body on the side of the exit of the ball stud from the joint housing is provided with recesses in the form of grooves 45 in order.
According to FIG. 4, this insert body can also be provided with a closing lip 49, or a special ring 50 can be provided for the same purpose.
