Description
So far, ball joints, especially for steering linkages of motor vehicles, often made in such a way that the ball stud head is either in two ball sockets laterally or was stored in a ball socket each at the top and bottom. In part it was for reasons of economy an upper guide of the ball pin head is dispensed with at all. These constructions require a large number of individual parts and the most precise machining with high expenditures Processing costs if these important steering parts function properly should be achieved. The invention relates to a ball joint, which only consists of three Turned parts and a spring consists, is very easy to assemble and in its Accuracy with regard to the bearing of the ball stud head from the most careful precision work cannot be surpassed. In addition, the ball stud head is not only on the side or above and below, but almost completely and mainly in the middle with stored on its largest wing, whereby a very considerable increase in the Durability is achieved. The new joint consists of the housing with connecting pins (Fig. I), the ball pin (Fig. 2), the locking cap (Fig. 3) and a compression spring (Fig. 4) of the drawing.
The housing (Fig. I) has a spherical recess in its inner bore, whose radius corresponds to the diameter of the ball stud head (Fig. 2) and twice the wall thickness corresponds to the cap (Fig. 3). The cap (Fig. 3) has on her cylindrical end any number of slots. When assembling the joint, the Ball pin (Fig.2) inserted into the housing bore and held so tight that the Space between the spherical recess in the housing and the surface of the spherical pin is the same size everywhere. Then the cap is inserted into the cylindrical bore of the housing and pressed in until the end with the other side of the housing. Pressing in deforms the closure cap and lies on the outside in the spherical recess, while the inside the ball stud head encloses and brings about a very precise storage. This also opens the cap absolutely secured against shifting to both sides. The slots in the cap expand accordingly due to the deformation and form fat chambers while they close again at the end and no lubricant can run out. So that any wear that may occur after prolonged use can be compensated for, is in the cap over the ball pin head in a known manner Pressure spring stored. The closure cap is used with a press fit and can be attached to can be provided with a knurl at their upper end to prevent them from twisting. Although the closure cap material changes significantly as a result of the deformation when it is pressed in Compressed and more wear-resistant can increase the service life of such Joints the inside of the cap, as known per se, with a special wear-resistant material are lined.
