La tête de meulage5 est ensuite abaissée par des moyens de commande non représentés (par exemple un cylindre hydraulique), agis sant sur le bras 4, jusqu'à ce qu'un disque de commande26 prévu dans la tête de meulage 5 touche le bord 24 du gabarit23 et empêche la tête5 de descendre davantage (fig. 3). Le disque de commande26 pivote librement, avec son arbre27, dans un corps de commande28, lequel està son tour pivoté par son arbre29 dans une bascule30 ;
On fait ensuite descendre la tête de meulage5 en tournant le bras 4 en sens inverse des aiguilles d'une montre (fig. 1), jusqu'à ce que le disque decommande26 touche le bord 24 du gaba rit23 de la maniùre montréeà la fig. 3. Le choc se produisant alors par suite du brusque ralentissement de la tête de meulage5 et du bras 4 est transmis par le disque de commande 26 au piston39, par l'intermédiaire de l'arbre 27, du corps decommande28, de l'arbre29, de la bascule30 et du goujon porteur 34;
9 permet d'atteindre ce but.
Method and mac] # Îne for round grinding the edge of plates, in particular of glass plates The present patent comprises a process for round grinding the edge of plates, in particular of glass plates, a process in which a grinding wheel is made to act. along at least part of the edge of the plate.
In known grinding processes of this type, the working surface of the grinding wheel has a round and concave profile, corresponding to the convex curvature that is to be given to the edge of the plate. . The grinding wheel and the plate to always remain in the same plane during the grinding process. It is easy to see that the raw plates have irregular and sharp corners and consequently cause irregular wear of the grinding wheels, so that after a relatively short time the concave profile of the grinding wheel no longer corresponds to the desired shape.
The wheel must therefore be resized or replaced at fairly short intervals, which not only increases operating costs, but also shortens the service life of the machine not economic.
The present method makes it possible to remedy to these disadvantages by the fact that the grinding wheel is animated by an oscillating movement during the grinding process, so that the angle of inclination between the plane of the grinding wheel and the plane of the plate is constantly changing, and in that the grinding wheel is constantly oriented during the grinding process, so that the point of machining is always located in the plane. in which the axis of the grinding wheel is displaced- during said oscillating movement.
On the one hand, this results in a more even wear of the working surface of the grinding wheel, and, on the other hand, possible differences in the profile of the grinding wheel compared to to The theoretically correct shape does not have their full effect on the profile of the roundness of the edge of the plate. It is therefore possible to keep the same wheel in service for much longer than was the case with grinding machines comprising a stationary wheel.

Fig. 8 is a section along the line VIII-VIII of fig. 3. Fig. 9 shows schematically the essential parts of the electrical equipment of the machine.
The grinding machine of which fig. 1 shows an overview of the ce presents in a machine frame 1 a machining trough 2 ; </ B> in the upper part of the latter there is a grinding head 5 carried by an arm 4 pivoting at 3, and in the. In the lower part of the trough 2 there is a fixing device for a plate to to be machined 6, for example a vehicle glass or the like.
The fixing device for the plate 6, shown in axial section to in fig. 2, has a support column 7 fixed in the machining trough 2, column on which is rotatably mounted a fixing table 8 with its drive shaft 9. The fixing table 8 has an adherent membrane 10 made of elastic material, for example rubber, and a ring support 11 in elastic material.
The clamping table 8 and its drive shaft 9 have an axial bore 12, connected to the driving end of the shaft 9, in a manner known per se and not shown, to a vacuum pump by means of which it is possible to obtain between the membrane 10 and the plate 6 placed on the table 8, a depression strongly pressing the plate 6 against the edges of the membrane < B> 10 and against the support ring 11 and thus maintaining it on the fixing table 8.
The fixing table 8 is surrounded by a template holder 13, mounted so to- can be bolted axially with respect to ' the table 8 and normally held in the upper position by several pressure springs 14, a position in which its upper shoulder 15 abuts against the shoulder < B> 16 of the fixing table 8. In this rest position of the template holder 13, it forms above the drill holes 17 in which the pressure springs 14 are arranged,
a cavity which is closed, so to speak, hermetically by annular seals 18 arranged between the template holder 13 and the fixing table 8. By the 17 boreholes and the 19 radial boreholes of the table 8 the aforementioned cavity is connected to the axial bore 12 of the fixing table 8 and of its shaft 9, so that when starting the pump to < / B> empty, there is also a vacuum in this cavity comprised between the template holder 13 and the fixing table 8, of pressure under the action from which the template holder 13 is biased downwards in the position shown,
against against the action of the springs 14. As the abrasive used is a corrosive liquid, the bearings 20 of the fixing table 8, respectively of its shaft 9, must be protected against the entry of this liquid by a to labyrinth seal 21 and an annular seal 22.
The 13 jig holder carries a 13 ' stud engaged in a 8' hole of the 8 table, of so that it is made integral in rotation with the table 8.
A gaba rit 23 is screwed onto the template holder 13 , the edge 24 of which has exactly the shape prescribed for the periphery of the plate to be machined 6. Along the edge of the template 23 are screwed corner angles 25 which, in the upper position of the template holder 13, i.e. in the rest position of the machine, grip the edge of the plate 6 and thus determine the correct position of this one. At the start of each work cycle, a plate 6 is placed on the fixing table 8, its position being determined by the reference angles 25,
then we create in channel 12 a depression which applies in the way already described- described the plate 6 on the table 8 and lower the jig holder 13 to the position shown, in which the reference angles 25 are away from the edge to be to be machined. the plate 6.
The grinding head 5 is then lowered by control means not shown (for example a hydraulic cylinder), acting on the arm 4, until a control disc 26 provided in the grinding head 5 touches the edge 24 of the jig 23 and prevents the head 5 from descending further (fig . 3). The control disc 26 rotates freely, with its shaft 27, in a control body 28, </ B> which is at its turn rotated by its shaft 29 in a rocker 30;
this half pivots in bearings 31 (fig. 4) around an axis perpendicular to the shaft 29. The rocker 30 is subjected to the action of a tension spring 32, so that its surface bears 33 </ B > is constantly kept in contact with the upper end of a supporting pin 34.
A strong pressure spring 36, resting against a collar 35 of the stud 34, pushes back the rocker 30 during the stop between two machining operations , that is to say when the control disk 26 is not loaded, and removes this rocker 30 from the conical head 302 </ B > an adjustable stop rod 301 , held in the rear wall of the grinding head 5. The lower end of the supporting pin 34 has a conical seat < B> 37 which passes through a conical borehole 38 of a piston 39 disposed in a cylinder 40 filled with liquid.
The piston 39 is pushed upwards by a pressure spring 41, so that in the rest position its conical bore 38 is pressed against the conical seat 37. A compensating channel 42 is drilled in the stud 34 which connects the spaces of the cylinder 40 located above and below the piston 39. together.
The cylindrical part 5 ' of the grinding head 5 which surrounds the bearing pin 34 is mounted rotatably, by means of bearings to balls 43 and 43 ', in a housing 44 integral with the free end of the arm 4. On the part 5' of the grinding head- 5 is fixed a crank plate 45 (fig. 3, 4 and 8) on which a connecting rod 46 pivots at 47, the other end of which is articulated to the piston rod 48 of a hydraulic control cylinder 49 arranged in the arm 4. By allowing a control liquid to penetrate from one side or the other of the piston of the control cylinder 49, the grinding head can therefore be tilted < B> 5 around its Y part in one direction or the other.
The control cylinder 49 is controlled in a manner known per se with the aid of a control valve 50 of known construction, shown in axial section to fig. 4, and the assembly and operation of which need not be explained in detail. The 50 sou pape presents a 51 probe which is in contact with a control 52 nose that presents the body 28 control valve such that the control valve 50 allows control liquid to enter from either side or.
on the other of the control cylinder piston 49 depending on whether the control body 28, respectively the nose 52, * moves to one side or the other to from a median position (position shown) along the direction of the probe axis 51. A rod 54 subjected to the the action of a spring 53 exerts, from the side opposite to that of the probe 51, such pressure on the control nose 52, that the pressure acting on the nose 52 by the spring of the control valve 50 is compensated.
The grinding wheel 55 of the grinding machine is fixed to the shaft 56 of a starter motor and is mounted with this last on a slide 57 which can be moved in a housing 58 in the axial direction of an adjusting screw 59 (fig. 3). The adjustment screw 59 is taken in a thread 60 integral with the slide 57, and rotating the adjustment knob 61 of the screw 59, the slide 57 can be moved with the grinding wheel motor and, the grinding wheel.
The casing 58 of the grinding wheel motor has two lateral conducting arcs 62 (fig. 3, 4, 5 </ B> and 6), which can roll between guide rollers 63, 64 and 65 mounted on the side wall of the grinding head 5. On one of the conducting arcs 62 is articulated a connecting rod 66 by means of a bearing to </ B > balls 67; the other end of this connecting rod is pivoted by . by means of a ball bearing 68 </ B > in a crank plate 69, the latter being driven at a constant speed during the operation of the machine.
Thus, the housing 58, driven by the arcs 62 at the same time as the grinding wheel motor and the grinding wheel 55, is animated by 'an oscillating movement whose axis of rotation is at the center of curvature of the concave profile of the working surface 70 of the grinding wheel 55, it is- that is, outside the grindstone. By means of the adjustment screw 59, you can adjust the grinding wheel 55 at any time so as to satisfy the condition that comes from be mentioned.
The machine described above operates in the following way: Once, in the manner already described, a plate 6 has been fixed on the table 8, the drive motors of the machine are started, so that the grinding wheel 55 and the plate with crank 45 are driven, for example at by means of three-phase motors at practically constant speed, while the fixing table 8 is driven slowly in rotation, preferably by means of an adjustable motor, for example a direct current motor.
The grinding head 5 is then lowered by turning the arm 4 anti-clockwise (fig. 1), until the disc of command 26 touches the edge 24 of the gaba rit 23 in the manner shown in in fig. 3. The shock then produced by the sudden slowing down of the grinding head 5 and the arm 4 is transmitted by the control disc 26 </ B > to the piston 39, via the shaft 27, of the control body 28, of the shaft 29, of the rocker 30 and of the support pin 34 ;
the piston 39, under the action of the shock, descends slowly, and a current of liquid passes through the narrow compensation channel 42, current which limits the speed of displacement of the piston 39 and absorbs the energy - of the shock. The grinding head 5 thus slowly approaches a position in which the bearing surface of the rocker 30 meets the abutment surface of the conical head 302 of the stopper rod 301, so that the rocker 30 stops.
During the downward movement of the piston 39, the wheel 55 slowly approached the plate 6 and applied smoothly against her. The housing 58 guided by the arcs 62 then performs an oscillating movement such that the angle of inclination between the plane of the grinding wheel 55 and the plane of the plate 6 varies constantly . The machining depth can be adjusted at as you wish by axially moving the stopper rod 301.
Due to the rotation of the clamping table 8, the edge of the plate to be machined 6 moves slowly with respect to the grinding wheel 55. At the same time, the edge 24 of the template 23, whose shape corresponds to the shape it must give to the plate 6, moves relative to the control disk 26. Like the shaft 27 of the control disc 26 can swing freely, together with the control body 28, around the shaft 29, the control disc 26 </ B> will always tilt in such a way, under the action of the control pressure of the edge 24 of the jig 23,
that the plane determined by the axes of the shafts 29 and 27 is perpendicular to the tangent led to the edge 24 of the template 23 by the point of contact between this edge 24 and the control disk 26. If therefore the curve formed by the edge Z4 of the template 23 presents any change of direction, the control disc 26 immediately swings around the shaft 29, which causes a lateral displacement of the nose control 52 of the control body 28. This in turn produces , in the manner described above, a displacement of the piston of the cylinder < B> of control 49 in such a direction that the grinding head 5 turns, together with the grinding wheel motor and the grinding wheel 55,
until it occupies a position tangent to the edge of the plate 6 to be machined, respectively a position parallel to the control body 28. The grinding wheel < B> 55 is therefore constantly oriented during the machining process in such a way that the working pressure of the grinding wheel is perpendicular to the tangent to the edge of the plate, driven by the machining point. It is thus possible to prevent the machining from being too deep or too shallow in places, which makes it possible to obtain a very good surface quality of the ground edge of the plate 6, all around the perimeter of it.
When the plate 6 is machined all around its periphery and has received the size and shape determined by the template 23, the grinding head is lifted 5 by moving arm 4 clockwise (fig. 1) and stop the drive motors of the machine at grind.
The supporting pin 34, which is now released, rises rapidly under the action of the spring 36, so that its taper seat 37 lifts up and leaves the taper bore 38 of the piston 39. The axial bore 12 of the fixing table 8 and of its shaft 9 is then put into communication with Patmosphùre, so that the machined plate 6 is released and can be removed, while the template holder 13 with its template 23 </ B> rises under the action of the springs 14 and facilitates, in the manner described above, the installation of an unmachined 6 plate. A new work cycle, as described above, can begin.
As already mentioned, it is particularly advantageous to drive the clamping table 8 at a variable speed in order to be able to adjust the speed of movement of the machining point of such that the machining power absorbed by the grinding wheel motor is kept at least approximately constant. The adjustment circuit shown to in fig. 9 achieves this goal.
We start by measuring the power absorbed by the grinding wheel motor, then produce an adjustment voltage for each deviation of this power from to a nominal power, so that the motor d The drive accelerates or slows down depending on whether the measured power is below or above the nominal power.
The motor 71 of the grinding wheel 55 is supplied to from a three-phase network with the neutral conductor 0 and the phase conductors R, S and T. Between phases R and S </ I> is connected a voltage transformer 72, while the current of phase T is conducted to through one of the primary windings, 73, < / B> of a measuring transformer 74. A phase T is additionally connected to a voltage winding 75 of the measuring transformer 74,
the other terminal of the winding 75 being connected to the neutral conductor 0 by means of a constant resistance 76 and a variable resistor 77. The secondary winding 78 of measuring transformer 74 is loaded by a constant resistance 79 and by a variable resistor 80. The secondary voltage of the voltage transformer 72 is conducted to the voltage winding 83 of a mechanical regulator 84 with fast action, of usual construction, by means of a capacitor 81 connected in parallel with a variable resistor 82, and the secondary voltage of the measuring transformer 74 is led, in step by a capacitor 85, to the current winding 86 of the regulator 84:
The regulating part 87 of the regulator 84 supplies, in conjunction with the adjusting resistor 88 ', a potential which is conducted in a known manner, not shown, to the control gates of thyratrons plugged into the circuit Mnduit of a DC drag motor for the fixing table 8. The field of the driving motor of the fixing table < B> 8 is excited with constant voltage. The voltage applied to the adjusting resistor 88 of regulator 84 can be finely adjusted by means of a variable resistor 89.
The two primary windings 73 and 75 of the measuring transformer 74 are dimensioned and connected in such a way with respect to each other to that for the nominal power of the grinding wheel motor 71 , no flux is produced in the core of transformer 74 and therefore no voltage appears in the secondary winding of this transformer 74. The current winding 86 of regulator 84 therefore does not receive any current, so that no West torque is exerted on the regulating part 87 and the latter remains in a position median for which the thyratrons receive a control potential causing the fixing table drive motor to rotate 8 at an average speed.
If now the power of the grinding wheel motor 71 decreases, the current in phase T also decreases, so that the effect of the voltage winding 75 takes precedence over that of the current winding 73 of transformer 74, and a secondary voltage is produced in the winding 78. </ B > A current therefore flows through the current winding 86 of regulator 84,
the direction of this current being chosen such that the regulating part 87 of the regulator 84 rotates in a direction such that the thyratron circuit receives a potential which increases the current flow in said circuit and causes it to rotate faster the motor driving the clamping table 8. Thus the speed of movement of the #machining point of the plate 6 and the power of the grinding wheel motor are increased, c That is, this power is always kept close to the nominal power of the grinding wheel motor.
The size of the deviations in the power absorbed by the grinding wheel motor depends on the sensitivity of the regulator circuit, this sensitivity can be adjusted by modifying the load resistance 80 </ B > of transformer 74. If the power absorbed by the grinding wheel motor increases and exceeds the rated power, the effect of the current winding 73 of the transformer 74 outweighs that of the voltage winding 75 and there appears in the secondary winding 78 a voltage which is opposite to the voltage appearing when the power of the motor of the grinding wheel is than the nominal power, and consequently there appears in the regulator 84 a torque acting in the opposite direction,
so that the speed of the motor entering the clamping table 8 is lowered.
The rated power, which can be determined by adjusting the variable resistor 77, does not necessarily need to be at the technical nominal power, respectively to the load capacity of the motor 71 of the grinding wheel and may, depending on the case, be chosen for example lower or higher than this ; it is only necessary to ensure that the permanent load, respectively the heating of the grinding wheel motor, does not exceed the permissible limits.
The described regulator circuit has the great advantage that the power of the machine can always be fully utilized. In many cases, for example when it comes to grinding vehicle windows, the plates do not need to be ground all around. The jig 23 is then shaped so that the grinding wheel is moved away from the part of the edge of the plate which is not to be machined. The power absorbed by the grinding wheel motor naturally drops almost to zero, which results in maximum acceleration of the motor driving the clamping table 8, so that the part of the edge of the plate which must not be machined is quickly traversed.
