B. in der deutschen Patentschrift 725 872 be schrieben.
Die belich teten Materialien werden sodann in der übli chen Weise unter Anwendung eines Farbent- wicklers zu zweifarbigen Bildern ent.wiekelt. Bei der Entwicklung muss sorgfältig darauf geachtet werden, dass die Gammawerte der Teil farbenbilder der Kopien, möglichst die gleichen sind wie die Gammawerte der entsprechenden Teilfarbenbilder des als Vorlage dienenden Mehrfarbenbildes. Auf diese Weise erhält. man bei Verwendung eines C;

Process for the production of copies of partial color images of a subtractive three-color image It is known that falsifications occur in the production of partial color separations from photographic multicolor images, since the image dyes of these multicolor images have undesired secondary absorptions. This error is particularly noticeable in the production of partial color separations from such multicolor images,
which will be kept using multilayer materials using the color development process. Attempts have already been made to eliminate this error by using slides. These are color or black and white images that have negative gradation with respect to the color images to be corrected, the color and the; <<Radation of these mask images is chosen so that they compensate for the undesired secondary absorption of the partial image dyes.
So far, however, it has not been possible to completely eliminate the error described by using this method.
It has now been found that correct color partial color extracts of satisfactory quality from multicolor images are obtained if, when copying one of the partial color images of the multicolor image, at least one of the remaining partial color images is switched off from the copying process with the aid of partial color images of the same color but opposite gradation.
The present invention relates to a method for producing copies of partial color images of a subtractive three-color image, which is characterized in that a color mask is generated by copying two partial color images of the three-color image onto light-sensitive materials, from these materials two partial color images he testifies that at least approximate have the same color and oppositely the same gradation as the aforementioned two partial color images of the multicolor image,
and the color mask thus generated is used in the production of a copy of the third partial color image from the three-color image to compensate for the two previously copied partial color images.
The subtractive three-color image to be used to produce the partial color separations can, for B. can be generated with the help of a multilayer film according to the process of colored Ent development. Such multilayer films have three emulsion layers which are sensitive to the red, green and blue parts of the spectrum and which contain the couplers for the production of a cyan, a purple and a yellow partial color image by the color development process. Suitable couplers are e.g. B. in German Patent 725 872 be written.
The three-color image used can be positive or negative. For example, from a three-color image of this type, initially three different copies containing two partial color images are produced on multilayer materials that contain color couplers which are converted into dyes after the color development process.
which have the same or approximately the same absorptions as the corresponding partial images of said multilayer image. These copies are negatives of the multi-layer image and are developed to the same or approximately the same gamma value as the corresponding partial color images of the multi-layer image. These two-color copies are then brought to coincide one after the other with the multi-layer image and partial color separations are exposed to suitable extract materials through these combined images.
The multilayer materials for generating the two-color copies can be the same as: they were used for generating the multicolor image serving as a template. However, special materials can also be used for this, which contain only two image layers for the generation of a partial color image each. Instead of multi-layer materials, oil grain materials can of course also be used.
Furthermore, those materials can also be used which do not contain any color couplers, but in which the partial color images are generated according to known other methods. The films for the production of the two-tone copies also do not need to be sensitized for different parts of the spectrum, but it is also possible to install color filters in them, which allow separate exposure of the individual partial image layers or partial image grains.
If the same multilayer materials are used to produce the two-color copies that were also used to create the multicolor image, then three successive exposures of three copies of these multilayer materials are first made through the multicolor image with color filters in between in the subtractive primary colors performed.
The filters used for this purpose are colored yellow, purple and blue-green. These color filters are selected so that they absorb either the blue, green or red light of the spectrum as completely as possible, i. That is, the wavelengths of the spectrum to which the individuals in the multilayer material are sensitive.
The exposed materials are then developed into two-color images in the usual way using a color developer. During development, care must be taken to ensure that the gamma values of the partial color images of the copies are, if possible, the same as the gamma values of the corresponding partial color images of the multicolor image used as a template. That way it gets. when using a C;
elbfilters a two-color copy, which contains a purple and a blue-green, but no yellow partial color image. If such a copy is made to coincide with the original, it can be established that the blue-green and purple partial color images of the latter are completely compensated. From these partial color images, a uniformly violet colored area has emerged. The yellow partial color image of the original therefore stands out clearly from the other partial images.
A partial color separation that is produced from this combined original and the two-color copy no longer shows any obvious color falsification. Copies are made in the same way. from the template using blue, green and purple color filters. The copy created behind the purple filter compensates for the yellow and blue-green partial color image of the original, so that only the purple partial color image of the original is copied when the partial color separation is exposed by the original that is in alignment with this copy.
The copy obtained with the interposition of the blue-green filter compensates for the yellow and purple partial color image of the original. To copy the partial color separations from the combined multicolor image and the two-color copies, the usual color filters such as. B. use the Agfa filters no.54, 45, 592 or combined yellow and purple filters or yellow and blue-green or blue-green and purple filters. However, the use of such filters is not absolutely necessary.
The method according to the present invention can also be used for the production of screened negatives from a multicolor image using a reproduction camera. To do this, mcerden first. The three different two-tone copies just described are made by exposing the copy materials in the camera. The copy materials are kept close to the setting level of the camera. The materials exposed in this way are then developed in the operational manner.
The copies made in this way are then brought into the same plane of the reproduction camera in which they were exposed. The multi-color image serving as a template is then exposed through the grid and through the two-color copies onto an extract material that is in Contact screens can also be used to produce screened partial color separations using the method according to the invention.
It is also possible to combine the two-color copies that are needed to compensate for two of the partial images of the multicolor image from monochrome copies. For this purpose, three light-sensitive analog silver emulsion layers can be used with the usual color filters such as B. the Agfa filter No. 45, 54 and 592 through a photographic, three partial color images containing multicolor image.
By color development, these halosilver layers are unconverted into color images, each of which corresponds to one of the three partial color images of the multicolor image, but has a reverse gradation. Two of these color images are placed one on top of the other, brought exactly into congruence, and then used in the manner described to produce color separations.
To produce the two-tone copies, appropriately sensitized multilayer films can also be used without the use of special extraction filters. In the above embodiment of the method, the usual measures for achieving the required coverage of the copy with the multicolor images are also applied. .
The method just described can be used not only for the production of partial color extracts for printing purposes, but also for the production of color photographic multicolor copies on transparent or opaque carriers. So z.
For example, using this method, three different two-color copies are produced from a three-color negative in the manner described, whereupon the three-color negative is copied onto a multilayer material in three copying stages by. During each copying stage one of the two color copies mentioned is brought into line with the negative. By varying the exposure conditions accordingly, the gamma values of the partial images of the final copies can be changed in any desired direction.
An example embodiment of the method according to the invention is explained in more detail by the accompanying drawing.
Fig.1A to 1K the same illustrates an embodiment of the process according to the invention for producing color benauszügen.
FIGS. 2 to 4 illustrate special embodiments of multilayer materials for carrying out the method according to the invention.
According to Fig.l_-2, a negative subtractive teaching color image, which has a transparent carrier 10 and blue-green, pure purple and yellow partial color images 11, 12, 13, is used to produce positive partial color separations. For this purpose, multi-layer color photographic materials are exposed through the multi-color image A. through the interposition of a yellow (B), purple (C) or blue-green (D) color filter.
These multi-layer materials have the same structure as the material used to produce the multi-color image A. These multilayer materials are produced by applying a halogen silver emulsion sensitized for the red part of the spectrum, which contains a diffusion-resistant color coupler for the generation of a blue-green partial color image, to a transparent base.
An emulsion layer which is sensitive to the green part of the spectrum and contains a magenta coupler is applied to this emulsion layer, over it a yellow filter layer and to the latter a halogen silver emulsion layer which is sensitive to the blue part of the spectrum and contains a yellow coupler. The multi-layer materials exposed in this way are converted into two-color images E, F and G by the color development process.
The two-color image E consists of a transparent carrier 15, a positive purple and a positive blue-green partial color image 16 and 17, a colorless filter layer 18 and a fixed exnulsion layer 19 which does not contain a partial color image.
The two-color image F is structured accordingly, but instead of a purple and a blue-green partial color image it has a positive yellow? 4 and a positive cyan partial color image 21, while the two-color image G has a positive purple 27 and a positive yellow 29 partial color image. The transparent underlayers of these images are labeled 20 and 25, the bleached filter layers are labeled 23 and 28 and the layers free of color images are labeled 22 and 26.
The partial images of these two-color images E, F and G are developed to the same or approximately the same Cxamma value as possible as the partial color images of the multicolor image 4.
The multi-color image t1 is then successively covered with the two-color images E, F and G and copied through these two-color images onto appropriately sensitized halide silver emulsion layers to generate blue, green and red partial color separations and use blue light or white light. The partial color separations themselves can be developed in black and white or in color.
Instead of the illustrated in FIG. 1 -., # Lehrschiclitstoffe E, F and G can also be used to produce the two-color copies, the multi-layer materials shown in FIGS. 2 to 4.
The multi-layer material according to FIG. 2 consists of a transparent base 36 on which the following layers are arranged: a halogen silver sensitized for the red part of the spectrum, containing a blue-green coupler, 37, and one for the green part. of the spectrum sen sensitized, magenta coupler-containing halogen silver emulsion layer 38 and the yellow filter layer 39.
The in Fig. 3 Darge presented multilayer material consists of a transparent carrier 40 on which a sensitized for the red part of the spectrum sen, a cyan coupler containing halide silver emulsion look 41 is arranged. On the latter, the yellow filter is schielit 4- '? and above that the halogen silver emulsion element 43 which is sensitive to the blue part of the spectrum and which contains a yellow coupler.
The structure of the multilayer material according to FIG. 1 corresponds to that of FIG. 3 with the difference, however, that the silver halide emulsion layer 45 arranged on the transparent base 44 is sensitive to the green part of the spectrum is. and contains a magenta coupler.
The yellow filter is marked with 46 and the blue-sensitive emulsion layer containing a yellow coupler with 47.
The multi-layer materials shown in FIGS. 2, 3 and 1 have the advantage over the multi-layer materials that are used to produce the two-color copies according to FIG. 1 that the exposure of these materials through the multi-color image 1 .A can be made without interposition of the filters 1B, 1C and 1D.
It is possible to largely vary the described embodiments of the method for producing color value-correct partial color separations. It can e.g. B. to generate the multi-color image or the two-color copies, multi-layer materials are used whose partial image layers have any structure with regard to the assignment of the sensitization to partial color images. So z.
B. the blue-green coupler or Pur purkuppler in the top blue-sensitive chen layer. Furthermore, the layers can also be interchanged with one another. So it is e.g. B. possible, the sensitized in the blue-green part of the spectrum halosilver emulsion layer, which contains the pure coupler, pour directly onto the substrate. In these cases, careful attention must be paid to the correct choice of color filter when making the two-color copies. Furthermore, the two-color separations can be developed after their exposure while they are in contact with the multicolor image.
Instead of a negative multi-color image, a positive color image can of course also be used as a template. The partial color separations themselves are generally converted by direct development into images which are negative with respect to the original. It is also possible, however, to convert these partial color separations into images that are positive with respect to the original, using inverse development.
Any other color photographic processes such as color photography can also be used to create the two-color copies. B. the silver dye bleaching process can be used.
