Fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines The present invention relates to an injection pump for liquid fuel intended for internal combustion engines, with a rotatable cylindrical part which contains in radial bores at least one piston which cooperates with its outer end with a stationary cam surface, and with one of Distributor provided with openings and extending coaxially to one end face of this cylindrical part.
The purpose of the present invention is to facilitate the control of the flow rate of such a pump compared to previously known Ausfüh ments.
According to the invention, a fuel injection pump of the aforementioned type is characterized by an adjustable sleeve cooperating with the distributor for controlling at least one overflow opening of the distributor, and by a spring-loaded check valve which is arranged between the pump working chamber and the outlet opening of an Auslasskana.ls .
Some exemplary embodiments of the subject matter of the invention are shown in the accompanying drawings. It shows: FIG. 1 a vertical section through a first embodiment, FIG. 2 a section along the line 2-2 in FIG. 1, FIG. 3 another embodiment in a section corresponding to FIG. 1. FIG Partial section to show a variant.
Fig. 5 is a vertical section through a further embodiment, and Fig. 6 shows part of the embodiment shown in Fig. 5 is.
In Fig. 1 and 2, a denotes a hollow body in which a fuel inlet chamber b, a 'distributor c in one piece with a rotating cylindrical part and a chamber e containing said part d are arranged, the latter being such a ge has formed inner wall that it forms a cam surface according to FIG.
The part d is provided with a pair of radial and coaxial bores each containing a piston f, the outer end of at least one of these pistons cooperating with said cam surface and the inner end of these pistons f (together with the bores) doing the pumping work form space g. The coaxial distributor c 1 extends from the cylinder. in which an axial passage h is formed which connects the space between: the cylinder bores with radial inlet openings i, j opening into the fuel inlet chamber b.
The distributor has one or more outlets k (only one shown), which pass through said passage h. connect successively with a number of outlet channels m in the hollow body a. Each of these Ausla.ss- ka.näle m contains a spring loaded non-return valve, not shown. At the outlet openings at the end of these channels who are connected to the pressure lines that lead to injection devices. The part d is rotated by a shaft n connected to it, which extends through the relevant end of the pump body d.
At the end of the distributor c a control sleeve o is attached, which can be operated manually by a lever p or automatically by a controller. This sleeve has radial openings q which open into the fuel inlet chamber b and are intended to control one or more radial overflow openings r which lead from the axial passage h in the distributor to the openings q. The fuel is supplied to chamber b through inlet s.
By adjusting the sleeve, the amount of overflow occurring with each piston stroke can be regulated and adapted to the various working conditions.
In the embodiment according to FIG. 1, the control sleeve o is adjustable by the lever p, which is rotatable about an axis axial to the distributor ko, the lever being connected to a short connector t, which has projections lc at its inner end, which in engage corresponding slots at the end of the sleeve. According to a variant which can be seen in FIG. 3, the sleeve o could be provided with a toothed ring zc, in which a pinion v. Engages, which is actuated from the lever p.
According to a further embodiment shown in FIGS. 5 and 6, the sleeve o is slidably disposed on the manifold c. In this embodiment, the manifold c has on its outer surface an inclined .Schlitz x, which is connected via a passage 2 with the cylinder bores of the part d. The sleeve is provided with one or more overflow openings. The displacement of the sleeve with respect to the distributor is done by a lever p to change the opening moment of the slot x with respect to the openings g.
If necessary, a further adjustable sleeve 3 can be arranged on the distributor, as shown in the example according to FIG. This additional sleeve is provided with at least one (in the present example two of which are shown) opening 4 to allow the inflow of fuel from chamber b, through openings 4 and passage h ,, to the bores in part d to interrupt. The sleeve is.
in this example can be actuated by a lever 5 which acts on a shaft 6 on which a pinion 7 is seated, which engages in a ring gear of the sleeve.
In each outlet line of the hollow body, as in the Pig. 3, a check valve 8 loaded by a spring 9 may be provided, or, as in the example of FIG. 5, a single check valve 8 loaded by a spring 9 is arranged in the axial passage of the distributor c at the confluence of the channels in. be.
When operating a pump equipped with the features described above, the liquid fuel is admitted into the working chamber between the pistons as soon as the fuel inlet opening or openings are opened by the distributor. With each working stroke, the fuel is fed to the outlet passage, which at that moment is opposite the outlet opening in the distributor. The amount of excess fuel overflow is determined by adjusting the sleeve.
In order to ensure effective lubrication of the Noekenfläehe in the pump body around part d by lubricant located in the chamber e, the movements of the pistons can be limited radially outward so that they do not constantly move with the cylinder while the cylinder is rotating Noekenfläche are in contact. This can be achieved by arranging interlocking claws 10 at the inner end of the piston (FIG. 4).
In the case of a further embodiment, only one piston is involved. the Noekenfläehe together. The outer end of the other piston is with. a sliding shoe 11 (Fig. 5) which is pressed against a circular path on the inner surface of the pump body by the fluid pressure between the inner ends of the pistons. In this version, the other piston only acts as a compensating piston. This embodiment is preferably used when the cam surface has an odd number of effective surfaces.
If the pistons are designed according to those of FIGS. 1, 2, 3 or 5, a small torsion spring 13 according to FIG. 3 can be joined to press them against the cam surface.
