sablez. -
Apparatus for sandblasting The present invention relates to an apparatus for sandblasting comprising a projection nozzle, for sand and compressed air, surrounded by a casing which,
has an opening allowing the sand to reach the surface to be sanded and into which a duct opens for the evacuation of the sand and the air after their use. This device is characterized in that it comprises a positive blower device intended to produce a vacuum in said envelope so as to prevent
sand leaks between it and the surface to be sanded.
The single figure of the appended drawing represents, by way of example, an axial section of an embodiment of the apparatus forming the subject of the invention.
The apparatus shown comprises a conduit 1 for supplying a mixture of pressurized air and sand; this duct ends with a projection nozzle 2 provided with a canopy 3. This nozzle and this canopy are surrounded by a tubular casing 4 having an orifice 5 allowing the passage of sand towards the surface to be sanded 6.
A seal 7 is interposed between the casing 4 and the surface 6 and tends to prevent the sand from escaping laterally.
This packing is made of a flexible and compressible material, of rubber or a suitable synthetic material. In the example shown, the gasket 7 has the form of a tubular sleeve. It could be shorter, in the shape of a bogüë,
and be mounted so as to be able to slide axially on the casing 4; in this case, a return spring would tend to apply it against the surface 6.
The envelope 4 is extended by a duct 8 serving to evacuate the sand and the air. tablet after their use; this pipe is intended to be connected to a container, not shown, intended to recover the sand after use. Thanks to the seal obtained by the gasket 7, and to the general arrangement of the various elements of the apparatus, the sand and the air rush into the pipe 8, by simple discharge.
However, in order to prevent sand leaks from occurring between the sleeve 7 and the surface to be sanded 6, in particular when the latter is not smooth, the apparatus comprises a blower device intended to produce a vacuum. inside the envelope 4.
By virtue of this depression, when the gasket 7 is not applied tightly to the surface 6, the ambient air enters through the interstices, so that no leakage of sand occurs.
The blower device consists of a fan 9 driven by a compressed air turbine 10.
The latter has an intake manifold 11 intended to be connected to a source of compressed air and an exhaust manifold 12. This turbine 10 could be replaced by an electric motor. The fan could be of any type, axially acting, tangentially acting, etc.
In addition, it can be protected from the action of the sand by a suitable device.
Instead of a fan, the blower device could be constituted, in the case where there is a large source of compressed air, by a pipe,
connected to this source of compressed air and cooperating with the discharge duct 8 so as to form with it a Venturi tube producing the desired depression inside the casing 4.
Finally, the apparatus described could be combined with the apparatus forming the subject of patent No. 324004 in which the sealant is subjected to the action of a mechanism which gives it an oscillating rotary movement. intended to facilitate movement on the surface to
sand. -
